RUMOR: Mailn Akerman In The Running For Lois Lane?
ComicBookMovie has posted a rumor that Mailn Akerman could be up for the role of Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's Superman. It seems possible as they've got their Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill) that they would move on to casting the rest of the film.
If true Akerman has a good shot as she's worked with both the studio and Synder on Watchmen previously. HeatVision recently confirmed rumors that Mailn's Watchmen co-star Matthew Goode had been a top choice to play Superman. It's very likely that Snyder could round out the cast with actors he's worked with before.

Javier Bardem Offered Villain Role In Bond 23?
Deadline reports that Spanish Oscar winning actor Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men) has been offered a role in Sam Mendes' untitled Bond 23. Bardem has also been linked for Ron Howard's Dark Tower. While the role is unknown it's expected he could play the villain as it's the best secondary part in Bond films.
Henry Cavill Officially Cast As Superman!
So it looks like Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder have hired their new Superman. It's British actor Henry Cavill (Immortals, Tudors) who was originally up for the role back when he tested for Superman Returns. Cavill has famously also been in the running for Batman and Bond. So I'm sure he was on producer Christopher Nolan's radar. It's an excellent choice since Henry is a brilliant actor and will bring more to the two dimensional superhero. I wouldn't be surprised this being a first step to bring in a new franchise for the studio considering Batman is on it's way out.
HeatVision reports that Cavill had been in the running since day one. The actor beat out some high profile and lesser known candidates such as Matthew Goode (Watchmen), Armie Hammer (Social Network), Joe Manganiello (True Blood, Spider-Man), Matthew Bomer (White Collar) and Colin O’Donaghue (The Rite).

RUMOR: Robin Williams Playing Hugo Strange In Dark Knight Rises?
The Dark Knight Rises rumor of the day comes from both Batman-News and Batman-On-Film who believe Robin Williams could be playing Hugo Strange. Robin Williams has stated before he'd love to be in one of the new Nolan films. He previously had been pursed for the role of the Joker in Tim Burton's Batman and Riddler for Batman Forever. Williams has worked with Christopher Nolan before as the villain in Insomnia.
It had been long rumored that Tom Hardy was going to play Hugo but was officially cast as Bane. Hardy seemed way too young to play older villain. Robin on the other hand seems like the perfect actor to take on the role. He's had a steady stream of badass roles in films like Good Will Hunting, One Hour Photo and Insomnia. Nolan has previously used more than one villain in the previous films so it does seem likely. Of course like with any rumor until it's confirmed by the studio it's just wishful thinking.
Would You Like To See Robin Williams Play Hugo Strange? Does The Film Need Another Villain? Leave Your Comments!

Leaked Thor Script Confirms Hawkeye & Reveals Easter Eggs
ComicBookMovie received a possible leaked copy of Marvel Studios' script for Thor. It's very likely it's a real copy as Paramount had the site remove the script and it's details. We seen numerous "leaked" copies of the Dark Knight Rises script and Warner Bros. has never paid attention to them.
I haven't read it myself because I would like to keep most of the film a surprise. I do however like to know the Easter eggs before hand so I can look out for them. CinemaBlend has posted a few of these Easter eggs from the script. These aren't earth shattering spoilers so it shouldn't ruin your enjoyment of the film. One involves Dr. Pym (Ant-Man) being mentioned along with "a pioneer in gamma radiation" which would be referring to Bruce Banner. Hawkeye's cameo is also confirmed as being written in the screenplay. Rumored for months that Jeremy Renner would show up in Thor as Clint Barton (Hawkeye) to introduce audiences to the heroic archer. Thor will be released on May 6th 2011.

Dark Horse Comic's Mike Richardson Hints B.P.R.D. Film
President of Dark Horse Comics Mike Richardson spoke to MTV about future films based on their comics. He revealed that since Guillermo del Toro is busy with other projects we could see a B.P.R.D. film before Hellboy 3. Guillermo del Toro previously told MTV that he'd give his blessing for another director to make a B.P.R.D. spin-off while he was busy with other things.
"There are some other projects Guillermo is working on right now, but you might be more likely to see a 'B.P.R.D.' movie before another 'Hellboy' movie,"
Doug Jones who plays Abe Sapien spoke to FearNet on the possibility of a B.P.R.D. film.
"That's another comic book series that Mike Mignola wrote in that same Hellboy universe. Abe Sapien is the central character/creature in that. So that would be an answer too. And that would probably be a property that Guillermo del Toro wouldn't need to direct himself, and that Universal would be happy to do with another director. With Hellboy III I think they're really holding out for him, for Guillermo."
The last thing we saw in Hellboy 2 the group resigned from the agency and I'm sure would need replacements. The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense has plenty of agents in the comics. So it's possible unused characters could be showcased in the spin-off. Agents like Roger, Dr. Kate Corrigan, Ben Daimio, Panya and Professor Donnell likely would be involved in the spin-off. Introducing a new team could be a great setup for Hellboy 3. It could also be an excellent opportunity to tell the origin story of Lobster Johnson as well.

Saoirse Ronan Confirmed For The Hobbit?
ComingSoon picked up on casting director Ros Hubbard talking to IFTN about the talented Irish actors working on The Hobbit and slipped Saoirse Ronan's name into the bunch. While this doesn't confirm she is in fact in the film it does mean she could be in talks. The story doesn't name a role but it's assumed it could be that of female elf warrior Itaril. It's likely that more casting announcements will be made in the next couple of weeks.
“[W]orking with Peter Jackson is like working with a family. So they’ll have a great time. Saoirse’s family will go too. Everyone is very close and very loving on those sorts of jobs. It’s not like typical studio movies at all.”

RUMOR: Xenomorphs & Space Jockey Are In Prometheus
Recently 20th Century Fox announced that Ridley Scott's Prometheus was going to be set in the Alien universe but won't be the prequel they originally planned. We all assumed that the Xenomorphs (aliens) and the Space Jockey would be axed from the film. Now there is word from Sky (via HeyUGuys) that the sets being currently built at Pinewood Studios recreates the original Space Jockey set from Alien. They also allude to the quote from the press release that referred to "Alien DNA" being literal. The original thought the DNA talk meant it would use elements from the film but not the actual alien. Of course this could turn out to be false but it sounds promising if true.
“They’ve built the ‘space jockey’ cockpit at Pinewood as seen in the original Alien film, so it definitely takes place in the same world as Alien”
“Despite that press release that seemed to indicate there were no aliens in the movie, the familiar HR Giger-style aliens do appear. Big ones apparently.”
“Part of the film will be shot in Morocco. I’ve heard that some sort of archaeological dig where they discover alien DNA takes place there and that DNA gives them the coordinates for an alien world. I’ve also heard Morocco is being used for alien planet landscapes so I’m not sure if it’s an archaeological dig on another planet.”

Emily Browning In The Running For Snow White
HeatVision reports that Australian actress Emily Browning has tested for the role of Snow White last week. Unlike the rumor of Kristen Stewart, testing for the role means there is a possibility of landing the part in Snow White & The Huntsman. Browning is about to blowup with her film Sucker Punch looking to be a massive blockbuster for the young actress. Emily is perfect for this type of role as the fantasy action theme is very similar to Sucker Punch.

RUMOR: Kristen Stewart To Play Snow White?
Deadline is reporting on a rumor that could see Twilight's Kristen Stewart in the lead role of Snow White & The Huntsman. It would be a safe bet for Universal since Stewart has a young loyal following. The only thing is that I doubt she would be able to carry a film like this on her own. Even worse she'd be sharing scenes with heavy weights like Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron.
It was mentioned that Universal could also be looking at both big names and unknowns for the role. The list of lesser known actresses in the running include Felicity Jones (The Tempest, Cemetery Junction), Riley Keough, Bella Heathcoat (Cogan's Trade, Now) and Alicia Vikander. I'd personally rather see Felicity Jones in the role mainly because she would put more effort into the film and could build a name from it. For Kristen, it would be just a payday between the next emotionless performance.

Mark Heyman Set To Write Age of Rage & Machine Man
HeatVision reports that Black Swan screenwriter Mark Heyman has been set to write Age of Rage for director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer, Spider-Man). The project is getting comparisons to a mix between Lord of The Files meets Children of Men. It's set in a post-apocalyptic society where all the adults have died and a group of teens sets about trying to establish a new society.
Heyman is also working on adapting Max Berry's novel Machine Man for Darren Aronofsky. A gadget geek and engineer working at a forward-thinking tech firm decides to systematically replace his weaker fleshy parts with high-end titanium performance upgrades of his own design. But he isn’t the only one with plans for his superior parts. It's likely this will be next film for Aronofsky when completes production on The Wolverine.

Javier Bardem Offered Lead In Dark Tower, Christian Bale Also In The Mix?
Deadline reports that Spainish actor Javier Bardem has been offered the lead in Ron Howard's Dark Tower. It's an odd casting choice as the character in the novels doesn't have an accent.
NYPost also says that Christian Bale is in the running for the lead. Bale seems likely since it's possible the Batman franchise is coming to an end for the actor. They mention Jennifer Carenter (Dexter) and Ghite Tazi testing for the role of Susannah. Take this one with a grain of salt as it comes from Page Six.

Viggo Mortensen In Talks For Snow White & The Huntsman
Variety reports that Viggo Mortensen is in talks to star in Universal's Snow White & The Huntsman. The role of the Huntsman has seen some interest from the likes of Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender and Johnny Depp.
Charlize Theron is likely to take the role of the evil Queen but Snow White has yet to be cast. Previously a list of lesser known hopefuls was released which included names like Felicity Jones (The Tempest, Cemetery Junction), Riley Keough, Bella Heathcoat (Cogan's Trade, Now) and Alicia Vikander. This more than likely takes Viggo out of the running for the lead in Ron Howard's Dark Tower.

Michael Fassbender Joins Prometheus Coming June 8th 2012
HeatVision reports that Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, X-Men First Class) has been officially cast in Ridley Scott's Prometheus. This the second actor cast in the secret sci-fi film after Noomi Rapace. There is still talk that Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie are the two candidates for the role of Vickers. Fassbender is playing an android in the film which had been previously named David. It's unknown if the character has gone through changes since the Alien prequel was scrapped. The film's release date has moved from March 9th 2012 to June 8th 2012. Likely to avoid Disney's release of John Carter of Mars.

Naomi Watts Joins DiCaprio In Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar
Deadline reports that Naomi Watts (Eastern Promises) has joined Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar.Watts took over the role when Charlize Theron left the film to focus on other projects. The cast is lead by Leonardo DiCaprio with Armie Hammer, Josh Lucas, Ed Westwick and Judi Dench.
I've been hesitant to report on the film considering Eastwood's tepid outings with Changeling and Hereafter have burned me before. Let's just hope Eastwood can return to the greatness of Mystic River. It also feels like Clint has been trying too hard to make Oscar bait rather making a solid entertaining film.

Monsters' Scoot McNairy Lands Role In Big Superhero Film?
While Monsters director Gareth Edwards has gone on to helm Legendary Pictures' Godzilla reboot. There hasn't been much talk of big roles for the cast of the sci-fi indie. The film's male lead Scoot McNairy has mentioned to TotalFilm that he is indeed been cast in a large superhero film. He and his publicist don't mention the project but there are lots going into production soon. Let the speculation begin!
The three big ones include Joss Whedon's Avengers, Dark Knight Rises and Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel. The other large scale superhero productions that are starting up soon include Darren Aronofsky's The Wolverine, Edgar Wright's Ant-Man and Tony Scott's Nemesis. I think McNairy would make an excellent Jimmy Olsen in the new Superman.

Cameron Says Avatar 2 Coming Christmas 2014, Avatar 3 In 2015
James Cameron has revealed to EW a working release date for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3. He says they will be aiming for Christmas 2014 release for Avatar 2 and the third film the following year. He goes on to mention he is currently writing and again confirms the films will be shot back to back. I assume the three films could end up being seamlessly interweave together similar to what was done with Lord of The Rings. The films are expected to spend time exploring the rest of Pandora including it's oceans.
"I am in the process of writing the next two Avatar films now. We are planning to shoot them together and post them together, and we will probably release them not quite back to back, but about a year apart. Christmas ’14 and ’15 is the current plan."

Duncan Jones Dropped Out Of Superman & Judge Dredd Reboot
ComingSoon was able to speak with writer/director Duncan Jones (Moon) while doing some press for Source Code. He went on to say he dropped out of the running to direct Superman: Man of Steel because of the scale of the production. It makes sense considering his inexperience at that time. Along with his use of limited amount of actors and sets in both Source Code and Moon. Jones also while interested with Judge Dredd turned down directing the reboot Dredd. Let's hope we eventually see Duncan take on some comic book properties in the future. There had been a bit of an online campaign to see him direct Iron Man 3.
“I was thrilled to be on that short list. For me, that was enough. I don’t know if I would be ready for that leap yet. I did have a meeting with Chris and he’s a fantastic guy and seemed to have really enjoyed ‘Moon,’ so there was some legitimate interest in me. I think, maybe, I’m not quite ready for that scale of project and that scale of expectation from an audience that is already existing and is waiting to see the next generation of ‘Superman’ film. I don’t know. It’s a hard one. I’m a huge Superman fan and Bizarro Superman fan. And also a big ‘Judge Dredd’ fan, which was another one that came my way. Those are two very different scales of projects. Superman was so big that I think I was a little intimidated by it and sort of backed out. ‘Judge Dredd’ I really thought about and it ended up not being right for me because I had such strong feelings and opinions on what I wanted that film to be. Although I really like what they’re going to do with it, it’s not the film that I was going to make. So that one wasn’t going to work out.”
What's interesting is that Duncan could have revealed that Bizzaro Superman is involved with Snyder's film. Bizzaro along with Brainaic are excellent possible additions to the new Superman film universe. Of course he could just be referring to the character with affection

Goldman Says Kick-Ass 2 Not Next For Vaughn, Could It Be Turf?
It looks like the DailyMail was a little premature. Jane Goldman (X-Men First Class, Stardust) has spoken out the rumor that her next writing project is Kick-Ass 2 via Twitter.
"Saw a few erroneous reports today that I’m currently writing Kick Ass 2 script – sorry if anyone’s disappointed, but not true. Currently writing for 2 other projects, then on to lovely Matthew V’s next thing (right now, looks unlikely to be KA2) when X-Men post-prod’ ends."
While she doesn't mention the possible projects they very well could be comic book related. TheGuardian mentioned that Jonathan Ross was hopeful his prohibition era vampire gangster comic Turf could be made into a film by Vaughn. Ross is a famous comedian in the UK and it doesn't hurt that his wife is Goldman. The project seems different enough that it could be very appealing to both Goldman and Vaughn. I could see it ending up a mix between Boardwalk Empire meets the original Blade film.
LatinoReview reported a few months back that Bloodshot was a project that Matthew and Jane were working on together with intentions of making it into a film. It was later stated by Mark Millar that they had turned it down but it's unknown if Millar is reliable anymore. Speaking of Millar's reliability the comic book writer had stated that a big announcement concerning a live-action adaption of his comic Superior which was to be made this month. It would reveal the film's director and possible lead actor. Millar previously tweeted that he gave Vaughn a first pass at the film.
"I've promised Matthew Vaughn a first pass at Superior though. We're going to talk next week whether it's this, KA2 or something else next."

RUMOR: Keanu Confirms Two More Matrix Films & Will Smith In Hood?
AICN news is reporting from a source who heard Keanu Reeves speak on the current status of projects from the Wachowskis. He went on to confirm two more Matrix films have treatments written. The directing duo have locked in Will Smith for Hood. Their fututristic take on Robin Hood which Reeves says Warner Bros. bought for $5 Million. Curiously enough there is no mention of their gestating project CN-9. While I'm interested in anything involving the Wachowskis I'm not how of much this is true.
"Says he met the Wachowski's (no emphasis on the word brothers), for lunch over Christmas and stated that they had completed work on a two picture script treatment that would see him return to the world of the Matrix as Neo. Says the brothers have met with Jim Cameron to discuss the pro's and con's of 3D and are looking to deliver something which has never been seen again. Keanu stated that he still has an obligation to the fans to deliver a movie worthy of the title "The Matrix" and he swears this time that the treatment will truly revolutionise the action genre like the first movie. Wachowski's are working on a movie called Cloud Atlas at the moment, once that concludes they will talk again."
"Wachowski's had just sold the most expensive script in history to Warner Brothers. a modern futuristic take on the legend of Robin Hood. Says he understands WB paid $5 million for the rights and that from what the Wachowski's have told him, it will be an action movie that would have the same impact visually and technically that Terminator 2 had. Confirmed that Will Smith has agreed to headline the picture."
UPDATE: This story has been proven as being completely false.

Cillian Murphy & David Warner To Be Villains In Tron 3?
AICN reports some details on the possible Tron 3 teaser trailer footage which includes three scenes. I don't consider these spoilers since it's only from a trailer and could end up being false. One of the scenes involve Qurra (Olivia Wilde) arriving at ENCOM to announce to the press she has spoken with Kevin Flynn. Another involves interaction between Alan (Bruce Boxleitner) and Ram (Dan Shor). The last could reveal the film's villains with Ed Dillinger (David Warner) plotting with son Ed Dillinger Jr. (Cillian Murphy).

Jane Goldman Currently Writing Kick-Ass 2?
TheDailyMail points out that screenwriter Jane Goldman (Stardust, Kick-Ass) is currently working on the script to Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall. I'm not sure how reliable the Mail is but Goldman is finished writing duties on both X-Men First Class and The Woman In Black. It's also the first source outside of Mark Millar stating there is development on the sequel.

JCVD Likely To Join Expendables 2 & Steven Segal Will Not?
MovieHole picked up some quotes from writer/director Sheldon Lettich (Double Impact) who is still friends with Jean-Claude Van Damme and is working on Double Impact 2 with him. He mentions the action star is leaning towards making Expendables 2. Jean-Claude famously turned down a role in the first film and has since regretted his decision. He also says that the involvement of Steven Segal could be an issue for Expendables producer Avi Lerner who has a bad history with Segal.
“JC seems to be leaning towards appearing in the sequel, as far as I know. If Steven Seagal is not in the sequel, from what I’ve heard it won’t be because of Sly but because of producer Avi Lerner, who had a few bad experiences with Steven.”
While Jean-Claude's last decent film that was playing in theaters was 1996's Maximum Risk. He's been able to make some decent films such as the dramatic turn in JCVD and solid return to action with Universal Solider: Regeneration. I believe like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Van Damme has a limited amount of action roles left in him and Expendables 2 could be a great end to his career in the genre.

James McAvoy Briefly Talks At The Mountains of Madness
It had been reported by Collider that James McAvoy had been Universal's choice the play the lead role in At The Mountains of Madness. While Guillermo del Toro had been campaigning to get Tom Cruise in the part. Tom and del Toro had been talking about making a new Van Helsing film before it got axed to make Mountains which was reported by Vulture. There is also word from Deadline that Cruise is aiming for supporting role in the musical Rock of Ages but is still attached to Mountains. Ron Perlman (Hellboy1-2, Blade 2) seems to be the only person currently cast in the film when Guillermo announced to MTV writing a role just for him.
Currently promoting a new film James McAvoy was asked by CinemaBlend about At The Mountains of Madness. He seems to playing it safe not coming out and confirming or denying his involvement.
"I don’t know anything about the story, but he’s an amazing director. I would be very lucky to be able to work with someone like that one day."
Based on the classic science fiction horror story by H.P. Lovecraft. A group of scientists and archaeologists travel to Antartica on an expedition in the early 1920's. There they stumble upon the ancient relics of an abandoned city hitherto completely unknown to mankind and uncover a prehistoric species that is awakened only to wreak havoc on their victims.
It's been a passion project for Guillermo del Toro and has even the caught the attention of long time friend James Cameron who is producing. Guillermo has written the film and will direct now that he's left The Hobbit. It's expected to be shot in 3D and it's effects are sure to be a blend of practical makeup, puppets and CGI. That along with his amazing touch of detail to his sets, characters and monsters it should be another quality horror film.

Saorise Ronan Says No Offer For Hobbit Has Been Made
Irish actress Saorise Ronan (Hanna, Atonement) has long been rumored for a role in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. Deadline previously named her as a possible participant in the two films. ThePlaylist has found Saorise speaking out on the rumor. While interested in the film she hasn't been offered anything. Ronan previously worked with Jackson on The Lovely Bones.
The role has been expected to be Itaril a new character not found in the books. A female woodland Elf, this character is one the Silvan Elves. Shorter than other elves, she is still quick and lithe and physically adept, being able to fight with both sword and bow.

Mike White Not Directing Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
Deadline reports that Mike White has dropped out as director for Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. This is the second director who left the production. This time it's a contract conflict as White is obligated to work for HBO during Lionsgate's production timetable for the film.
The casting could also be in jeopardy as Anne Hathaway had been in talks along with James McAvoy to star in the movie. Anne is now starring in The Dark Knight Rises and might not be able to commit. Previously David O'Russell (The Fighter, Three Kings) was expected to direct Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper in it before they all dropped out. Natalie Portman who was originally set to star is still producing.

More Join Foster & Harrelson In Rampart, Coming In 2011
Rampart is an adaptation of the novel by James Ellroy and is centered on the widespread corruption in the anti-gang unit of the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart Division in the late 1990s. It is a reunion for Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson with writer/director Oren Moverman who worked with the two on The Messenger.
I previously mentioned the inclusion of Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), Ice Cube and Sigourney Weaver. The film is now in post-production but I noticed the new additions of Robin Wright (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Brie Larson (United States of Tara, Scott Pilgrim), Joe Bernthal (The Walking Dead), Anne Heche and Cynthia Nixon in the casting. Rampart is expected to be released sometime in the new year.

Keira Knighley Replacing Marion Cotillard In Cronenberg's Cosmopolis?
ThePlaylist says that Keira Knightley could possibly be taking over the female lead in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis. Marion Cotillard originally was set to star but likely had to leave over her recent pregancy. It's not the first casting shake up on the film as Robert Pattinson took over for Colin Farrell who left to focus on Total Recall. Paul Giamatti has been in talks for a role in the film but nothing has been confirmed. The production starts shooting in May so an announcement should be made soon.
While I'm not a fan of Pattinson's work I'm curious to see anything made by Cronenberg. It would make sense to see Knighley join the production as the role would be the wife of Robert's character. The actors are similar in age and make more sense to be paired up. Keria recently worked with Cronenberg on the film A Dangerous Method and could have made an impression with the director. I'm curious if Knighley is still up for a role in The Dark Knight Rises.

The Man WIth The Iron Fist Nabs Russell Crowe & Lucy Liu
Things are looking good for The Man With The Iron Fist the debut film from Rza. The rapper/composer/actor turned director has started production on his kung-fu flick in China. He'll star in the lead role and direct the film with mentor Eli Roth producing on location. FilmBizAsia reports Rza has landed Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Daniel Wu and Byron Mann (The Corrupter, Street Fighter) in supporting roles. I wouldn't be shocked to see Eli Roth also take a role in the film. Crowe and Rza worked together on American Gangster and Next Three Days I assume they developed a good relationship on the set. Rza will most likely also work on the film's score which should be stellar. Considering he did some impressive music for Kill Bill Vol.1 and Ghost Dog.

Don Cheadle Confirms Marvel Studios Is Making A War Machine Spin-Off
Don Cheadle while speaking with MTV confirmed Marvel Studios has hired a writer for War Machine and the spin-off is currently in development. Of course this doesn't mean a lot since Marvel has also been developing Nick Fury, Black Widow and Hawkeye solo films. It's expected that War Machine could take over the Iron Man franchise since it's possible that Robert Downey Jr. could walk away after Iron Man 3. Perhaps focusing on Avengers sequels instead. He also puts down previous rumors that he will appear in Avengers.
"They're developing it now, they're working on that. I think they've hired a writer, so we'll see how it goes. It would be a lot of fun.I don't think he shows up in (Avengers). I think he's kind of a lone wolf,"
