Julianne Moore In Talks To Join 'CARRIE' Remake

BloodyDisgusting reports that Sony is now talking with Juilanne Moore (Hannibal, Big Lebowski) to take the role of Carrie's abusive/religious mother. It had been previously reported that Moore and Jodie Foster had been pursued for the part. Chloë Moretz (Dark Shadows, Let Me In, Kick-Ass) will be playing the title role in the horror remake.

Chloë Moretz Offered Lead In Carrie Remake

It looks like Chloë Moretz (Hugo, Kick-Ass) is cementing her status as our modern day scream queen as THR reports she has been offered the lead in the Carrie remake. Moretz has been slowly been raking up horror roles with Let Me In, Dark Shadows and now Carrie making her the modern day Jamie Lee Curtis.   Julianne Moore is in the mix for the role of her nutty/religious mother which I hope happens.

Carrie Remake Narrowing Down Actresses

Vulture reports that the Carrie remake is looking to cast the title role and her abusive/religious mother. The young ladies in the running for Carrie include Chloë Moretz (Kick-Ass, Let Me In, Hugo), Haley Bennett, Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows, Cogan's Trade), Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) and Dakota Fanning. The role of Carrie's mother seems to be down to Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights, Children of Men) and Jodie Foster.

Javier Bardem Offered Lead In Dark Tower, Christian Bale Also In The Mix?

Deadline reports that Spainish actor Javier Bardem has been offered the lead in Ron Howard's Dark Tower. It's an odd casting choice as the character in the novels doesn't have an accent.

NYPost also says that Christian Bale is in the running for the lead. Bale seems likely since it's possible the Batman franchise is coming to an end for the actor. They mention Jennifer Carenter (Dexter) and Ghite Tazi testing for the role of Susannah. Take this one with a grain of salt as it comes from Page Six.
