Variety has a casting update for Disney's Pirates of The Caribeean: Dead Men Tell No Tales which sees actors Adam Brown, Delroy Atkinson and Danny Kirrane joining the cast.

Brown, being the most noteworthy actor of the bunch playing the dwarf Ori in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy. Not to mention working with Orlando Bloom in two of those films. Bloom is expected to reprise the role of Will Turner in the film.

The other new cast members include Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, and Brenton Thwaites.

Kaya Scodelario Frontrunner For PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES

Deadline has word that British actress Kaya Scodelario in early talks for the female lead in Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Kaya is known for roles in Maze Runner, the UK series Skins and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.

The film will be directed by the duo of Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, who recently directed the first two episodes of Netflix's Marco Polo.

Johnny Depp will be returning, the rest of the cast includes Javier Bardem (Skyfall, No Country For Old Men), Geoffrey Rush and possibly Orlando Bloom. There are rumblings Bloom could be returning and might end-up taking over the franchise.

Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent, Son of A Gun, Gods of Egypt) is also a new addition to the franchise.

I don't think I've been this excited for a Pirates film since Dead Man's Chest.

Kaya Scodelario, Alexandra Dowling And Gabriella Wilde Testing For PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES

Variety is reporting now the Disney has found it's young male lead for Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales with Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent). They are now trying to fill a key female role. that will likely be opposite to Brenton. The actresses involved have will be testing with the young actor and I assume role could be similar to Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swan.

The ladies include Lucy Boynton, Gabriella Wilde (Three Musketeers), Jenna Thiam, Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner) and Alexandra Dowling (Game of Thrones, Three Musketeers). Brenton's role in The Giver might suggest Disney could be looking for fellow actor connected to a YA series, like Maze Runner's Kaya Scodelario. I wouldn't rule out like Alexandra Dowling also landing the role.

Javier Bardem is set to play the film's villain with Johnny Depp of course returning to the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. A deal that is rumored to be costing Disney around $100 million.

I don't know about you, but I've been watching Netflix's Marco Polo over the last couple of evenings and it's a great series. Funny to find out that the directors of Dead Men Tell No Tales actually shot the first two wonderful episodes. It should give us some hope that the movie could finally scale back the quality we all enjoyed with The Cruse of The Black Pearl.

Javier Bardem Might Haunt Captain Jack In PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES

Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has been in development for a very long time, take from that what you will. It's been a while since we heard any sort of casting news concerning the project, even though it's expected to begin shooting soon in Australia. The film has a release date of July 7th, 2017 with Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg directing.

TheWrap reports that Spanish actor Javier Bardem (Skyfall, No Country For Old Men) has been offered the villain role. He would play ghost pirate Captain Brand, who seeks revenge on Jack Sparrow. Christoph Waltz was the last actor in the mix for the part, but was never given an offer. Waltz is the villain of Warner Bros' Tarzan, so it's unlikely they'll want him here as well. You might remember that Deadline reported on Bardem's desire to play Black Beard in Joe Wright's Pan, the role would eventually go to Hugh Jackman.

Geoffrey Rush is set to return, while it's unknown if we'll see actors like Stephen Graham and Ian McShane return once more. There was also a bit of a teaser at the end of On Stranger Tides that Penelope Cruz would be returning too. I'm sure Disney would love to see the couple in the same film.

Clifton Collins Jr. Joins Michael Douglas And Paul Rudd In Edgar Wright's ANT-MAN

THR broke news yesterday that Marvel was possibly considering both Clifton Collins Jr. and Javier Bardem for roles in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. It had been assumed that they weren't locks, as it was seemingly for the role Michael Pena had been reportedly offered. Pena actually taking the role hasn't been confirmed, but another one of the actors just might have been.

LatinoReview is adding that Clifton Collins Jr. has been confirmed for the film, in an unnamed role. Stating, he's the only lead actor cast in the film besides Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd. We had hoped that Collins' previous working relationship with Wright would help his chances, and it possibly could have here. No word if he is playing a villain or hero in the picture. His credits include Star Trek, Crank High Voltage, Boondock Saints 2, Traffic, Pacific Rim and Scott Pilgrim.

It's also been pointed out by LR (but not reported), that Clifton could pass as a younger Michael Douglas (currently in his 70's). There had been rumors that the some of the film could take place in the 60's, involving a Cuban/Communist Missile Crisis as the centre of the story. Having Douglas play the present day Pym and Collins Jr. as the 60's version might be a good way to establish lineage with the character. Also, having Ant-Man set in both the present and the 60's could be very interesting.

Clifton Collins Jr. Looking To Reunite With Edgar Wright For ANT-MAN?

Today, we heard from TheWrap that actor Michael Pena is being eyed for a role in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. A few other names are also being linked for the role according to THR. The pair of actors are Javier Bardem (Skyfall, No County For Old Men) and Clifton Collins Jr (Traffic, Pacific Rim, Boondock Saints 2, Crank High Voltage). Of course, these names are only mentioned as being linked.

We had heard that Marvel was talking with Javier Bardem for a future role, it had been assumed that at the time it was for Doctor Strange. This was years ago, and likely had nothing to do Ant-Man as Wright was busy with other projects at the time. Having another high-profile actor like Bardem, would help get international attention.

Collins worked with Edgar on Scott Pilgrim, taking a cameo role as a one of the Vegan Police. He's also very recognizable as a very funny character actor, and seems more like an actor up to snuff to deliver action and humor we'd expect from Wright and Cornish. I'm rooting for Clifton because he was so awesome in Boondock Saints 2 and Crank High Voltage, but it likely comes down to if Pena turns down the role.

RUMOR: DOCTOR STRANGE Coming May 2016 And Villans Revealed?

It was recently announced Marvel/Disney secured two new release dates for untitled projects. The unknown films are slotted for May 6th 2016 and May 5th 2017. It looks we might be getting an official announcement at Comic-Con about these films. DailySuperHero is reporting on a rumor that Marvel could reveal their Doctor Strange film plans (along with casting?) at their pannel and which might fill that May 2016 slot. A while back it was reported by Twitch that the studio had been circulating a script from writers Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to potentinal directors. Kevin Feige all but confirmed to Collider that Strange would be among the new releases in Phase Three. Which would come after Edgar Wright's Ant-Man (the first film of Phase Three) in November 2015. A May 2016 release date sounds about right for the project. As Marvel is looking like they'll be shooting Ant-Man/Avengers 2 in 2014 after Guardians of The Galaxy wraps up leaving some room in 2015 for new a production.

ThePlaylist mentioned that there was talks the studio was looking at Joel Edgerton for the lead role of Dr. Stephen Strange. However, this was also around the same time that it was rumored the character would show up in Thor: The Dark World. Viggo Mortensen (History of Violence, Lord of The Rings, The Road, Eastern Promises) had been linked for the lead but Marvel came out to deny it. More recently Iron Man 2/Tropic Thunder writer and sometime actor Justin Theroux (Your Highness, American Psycho, Zoolander) had been linked for being in the mix as well. There had been previous rumblings that Javier Bardem (The Counselor, No Country For Old Men, Skyfall) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Hobbit, Sherlock, Atonement, Star Trek Into Darkness, War Horse) had been wanted for possible roles. Considering the pair are best known for playing solid villains it's possible they might end up being in the mix for Dormammu or Mordo.

LatinoReview, who is best known for outing villains for big blockbusters believes they know who the baddies will be. They state that the villains of Doctor Strange include Dormammu, Karl Mordo and The  Giant Mindless One. It's interesting mix of two staple villains from Strange's rouges gallery. I would have expected more of the horror/occult elements to come into play but it's only the first installment. Just remember this the same site that revealed villains General Zod (Man of Steel), Thanos (Avengers) and Khan (Star Trek Into Darkness.

A director hasn't been named but LatinoReview reported on talk that Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez and his writer Rodo Sayagues being linked for the project. Nothing besides rumors and meetings at this point but I'm sure something more solid will be announced at Comic-Con.

Marvel Confirms DOCTOR STRANGE Is Apart Of Phase Three

Marvel's Kevin Feige has confirmed to MTV that previously announced Ant-Man and Doctor Strange will be among the post-Avengers 2 releases in Phase Three. It's the first time Marvel has been certain the Sorcerer Surpreme's solo film was ready to go. Last year the rumor of Doctor Strange showing up in Thor: The Dark World sparked some speculation if Dr. Stephen Strange had already been cast. A name that had been widely rumored was Viggo Mortensen but Marvel had to come out deny the rumor. Other actors that have been mentioned for the project include Benedict Cumberbatch and Javier Bardem. I'm still holding out hope that Oscar winner Jean Dujardin (The Artist, Wolf of Wall Street) will be considered.

“‘Ant-Man’ is definitely part of Phase Three. Like ‘Iron Man 3,’ it’s certainly set in the Marvel Universe, but it’s also through the lens of Edgar Wright — which is the only reason we’re making the movie…I’ve known Edgar since our first lunch together at Comic-Con in 2004. He asked me what Marvel was doing with ‘Ant-Man’ — we weren’t even a studio then; what a difference eight years makes! It’s very much an ‘Ant-Man’ origin movie from the perspective of Edgar Wright and his co-writer Joe Cornish. It will of course be firmly planted in the MCU, but a different corner than we’ve seen before.”

“Beyond that… ‘Ant-Man’ is the only one officially announced, but you probably don’t have to look too far to guess at the next list of characters we’re toying with and beginning to develop…’Doctor Strange,’ which I’ve been talking about for years, is definitely one of them. He’s a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he’s totally different from anything else we have, just like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ He’s totally different from anything we’ve done before, as is ‘Ant-Man,’ which keeps us excited.”

While a director hasn't been announced for Doctor Strange. There was talk of a script circling to unnamed candidates back in late 2011. It's possible around the release of Iron Man 3 in May the studio could name this director or save the news for Comic-Con in July. A release date hasn't been mentioned by Marvel but I could see it's occult/horror themes playing well in Fall 2015. Yet, with two releases already locked-in with Avengers 2 in May and Ant-Man in August it's likely Strange could be pushed to May 2016.

Cameron Diaz Joins Ridley Scott's 'THE COUNSELOR'

Twitch reports that Cameron Diaz has landed the female role in Ridley Scott's The Counselor which Angelina Jolie had been eyeing. While most know Diaz for her touch-and-go comedic career, she played a ruthless team owner in Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday. The film was a career highlight but Diaz decided not to pursue more dramatic roles. Hopefully Cameron brings a similar intensity to this film. Michael Fassbender leads the cast with Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt playing villains of the picture with Penelope Cruz still circling a role.

Brad Pitt And Javier Bardem Likely To Join Ridley Scott's 'THE COUNSELOR' Starring Michael Fassbender

Deadline reports that Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem (Skyfall, No Country For Old Men, Collateral) have signed on for roles in Ridley Scott's The Counselor which is based on spec-script by author Cormac McCarthy (The Road, No Country For Old Men). The film centers on a lawyer (Michael Fassbender) who tries his hand in the drug-trade only for it to go horribly wrong very quickly. The crime thriller is quickly coming together so it won't be long before we start hearing supporting roles being filled by other talented actors.

Angelina Jolie is said to be circling the female lead but with her commitments to Disney's Maleficent her involvement could be an issue. Jolie's recent string of roles have been terrible so at least with this film it could be somewhat redeeming. Jeremy Renner had also been in the running for a role but his name is nowhere to be seen on this new report. 20th Century Fox is looking to distribute which makes sense considering their longstanding relationship with Ridley.

'SKYFALL' Adds Another Bond Girl With Model Tonia Sotriopoulou

MI6 (via ThePlaylist) reports that Greek model Tonia Sotiropoulou has joined fellow Bond girls Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris for the 23rd film Skyfall. Tonia confirmed the news via her Facebook page mentioning she's headed to Turkey. It was said that the original location of India had been changed to Turkey over production issues with the local government. Of course there will be other locations with London being one of the major settings of the film. The rest of the cast includes Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whisaw with release date set for November 9th 2012.

Natalie Portman Wanted For The Counselor, Renner And Bardem Close In On Villain Role

Twitch is reporting that both Javier Bardem and Jeremy Renner are close to being cast as the villain in Ridley Scott's The Counselor. They also mention Oscar winner Natalie Portman (Black Swan, Thor 2) is in early talks for the female lead. The film that has Michael Fassbender  as a lawyer who tries to get into the drug trade with violent consequences.

Nothing is final on Portman joining the film as she is also in talks for the two Terrance Malick films which are currently in production. Natalie is also eyeing the lead in new Wachowskis project and has obligations to reprise her role of Jane Foster in the untitled sequel to Thor which shoots this Spring/Summer in London.

Javier Bardem Also Could Join The Counselor

It was reported earlier in the week that Ridley Scott's The Counselor landed Michael Fassbender as it's lead. An unnamed role alluded to as the villain had actors such as Brad Pitt, Jeremy Renner and Bradley Cooper were in the mix for the part. Now, Deadline reports that Spanish actor Javier Bardem (Skyfall) is now pursing the same role. Oddly enough in the new report Bradley Cooper is no longer mention as in the running. I assume he's either aiming for another role in the film or has moved on to other projects. Bardem seems like a given after his Oscar winning performance in No Country For Old Men.

Possible Synopsis For Doctor Strange?

JoBlo has posted a synopsis for Doctor Strange but it's unknown if this the film's official tagline. A script by has been handed into Marvel Studios by Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. There have been rumors that actors such as Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes, War Horse, Star Trek 2, Hobbit) and Javier Bardem (Skyfall, No Country For Oldmen) have been wanted for the film. Marvel's Kevin Feige has stated we would see the film "sooner rather than later". Take that statement as you will but Strange seems to be high priority to Marvel. If the studio does indeed shoot three productions in 2012 it wouldn't be hard to see Doctor Strange go into production in 2013. Leading the film to fill one of the 2014 release dates Marvel has set aside.

"Doctor Strange centres around a New York surgeon, who stops running his practice after suffering injuries in a car crash. He then becomes a drifter and heads to the Himalayas, where he meets a healer and discovers that he has a great psychic power to fight against evil. Doctor Strange boasts powers that includes telepathy, teleportation, energy and astral projection."

Io9 also had some Doctor Strange tidbits as well. They spoke to theoretical physicist Sean Carroll. A science expert that contributed to Thor and is now working with Marvel on Strange. Sean talks about limiting the heroes abilities and the setting real limits for this world.

"You need constraints to provide tension...A world where anything can happen makes for a very boring movie. It's when science imposes boundaries on what a superhero can do that the real drama begins."

Ben Whisaw Will Play Q In Skyfall

It was mentioned around the time that Quantum of Solace came out that Daniel Craig was interested in bringing back the character Q, who had been a staple of the franchise. Q was responsible for a majority of Bond's gadgets which would save his skin more than once. HollywoodReporter says that Ben Whisaw (Perfume, Layer Cake) who was confirmed for the new film will play Q in Skyfall. The Q scenes were mostly for comedic effect but considering the tone of the new Bond films it's unlikely there will be too many jokes cracked.

Skyfall Official Title Of Bond 23, Cast Confirmed

Bond 23's official title will be Skyfall. The title had been rumored for a couple of weeks but is now confirmed. The film will still have large action pieces and it was confirmed that it will be it's own story not being connected to the previous two installments. Skyfall will hit North American theaters on November 9th 2012.

"In SKYFALL, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."

Albert Finney Joins Bond 23

Legendary actor Albert Finney (Miller's Crossing) has joined Sam Mendes' (Road To Perdition) Bond 23 (Skyfall?) according to ThePlaylist . He joins newcomers Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Ben Whishaw (Layer Cake, Purfume), Naomie Harris (Miami Vice, Pirates 2-3), Helen McCrory (Deathly Hallows 1-2) and Berenice Marlohe. Returners include Daniel Craig and Judi Dench along with Rory Kinnear who played M's assistant in Quantum.

Finney's role is unknown but there has been talk of bringing back the iconic role of Q. Who is the supplier and inventor of Bond's useful gadgets. Since Naomie Harris is playing Miss Moneypenny it might not be out of the question. There has been talk of the action scenes being scaled down in favor for Oscar contentions and to make it more thrilling/grounded.
