RUMOR: David S. Goyer Working On MAN OF STEEL 2 Script, Will Zack Snyder Direct?

ThinkMcFlyThink is reporting on a rumor that comic book screenwriting guru David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Blade) is already working on a script for Man of Steel 2. Nothing was confirmed but there was talk the studio was fast-tracking a sequel with the expectation Zack Snyder would return to direct. Considering Christopher Nolan is about to begin production on Interstellar it's unknown if he'll return to produce.

It was questioned recently if Snyder would be back for a sequel. As it was reported Zack met with LucasFilm to pitch a Star Wars standalone film inspired by the Japanese classic The Seven Samurai. Granted Snyder has been a loyal director for Warner Bros. taking on films such as 300 and The Watchmen. The only problem is there were rumors of conflict between the director and studio over Sucker Punch which led to a reluctant Snyder making Man of Steel. While it's unknown if he'll be back the recent screenings of the film have been extremely positive and should make a solid chunk of change in July. I'm sure during the press tour for Man of Steel more of this development could be revealed.

LatinoReview has heard positive word of mouth coming from recent screenings of Man of Steel. Warner Brothers' second reboot of the Superman franchise is expected to usher in an entire new cohesive DC film universe. Apparently a lot is riding on Man of Steel being a massive success, even more than just a sequel. As the studio is holding back production of Justice League until they see the box office numbers from Man of Steel. Justice League's script from Will Beall had recently been tossed out by WB and is expected to completely rewritten by a new writer.

JUSTICE LEAGUE Lineup Revealed?

LatinoReview has another scoop this time concerning Justice League. They say the official lineup for the film includes the main five heroes Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash. The site previously revealed that the villain of the film would be Darkseid. The cast hasn't been locked down but Henry Cavill and Joseph Gordon-Levitt could be the leads. There hasn't been word if the studio is looking to re-cast Green Lantern after the box office disaster. Switching out Hal Jordan for Jon Stewart could be how the studio fixes Green Lantern. A director for the large event film hasn't been hired but is expected to go into production this year with a Summer 2015 release date.

It's possible we could also be seeing cameos from Aquaman and Martian Munhunter.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Playing BATMAN In JUSTICE LEAGUE?

HitFix is reporting that Warner Bros. is looking to cast a member of the Justice League. While the the lineup is uncertain we know that Superman and Batman will be involved. Sources tell HitFix that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (John Blake) will be playing Batman in the film. At the end of Rises Blake was given the keys to the Batcave, allowing a transition for a new actor to take over the franchise. Zack Snyder recently hinted his film Man of Steel (produced by Nolan) could be setting up Justice League. Giving the impression that Henry Cavill could also be involved in the film aimed for a 2015 release date.

The Wachowskis Wanted For JUSTICE LEAGUE?

According to MovieHole Ben Affleck isn't the only high profiled director Warner Bros. is pursuing to direct Justice League. They name The Wachowskis (Matrix) as possible candidates to make DC's answer to The Avengers. Apparently, the studio loves their experimental film Cloud Atlas and believe the duo have what it takes to make a summer spectacle while developing the characters properly. The Wachowskis are an inspired choice considering The Matrix was a massive ode to anime and manga material. I can only imagine what they could do within the DC Universe and given the time/freedom to make their own vision. I assume that they would end up with creative control and a complete re-casting of the entire hero lineup will happen. Meaning, JL won't have any direct links to the Nolan Batman films, Man of Steel or even Green Lantern.

'JUSTICE LEAGUE' Get's A Writer

Warner Bros. is feeling the sting of a missed opportunity as Avengers is now the #3 domestic and worldwide box office record holder. ShowBlitz reports that the studio has now hired Will Beall (Gangster Squad) to pen a script for Justice League. While it's interesting they'll finally be moving forward, it doesn't seem as inspired as they haven't really introduced the rest of the main lineup yet. If DC Entertainment plans on competing with Avengers they'll have to hire a rather talented writer/director with a massive vision or it will bomb twice as much as Green Lantern did.

RUMOR: Bradley Cooper Playing Lex Luthor?

Bradley Cooper has been choosing a lot of odd projects lately which run the gauntlet of comedy, indie, action, blockbuster, genre and drama. Today's big rumor of the day brings Cooper back to the world of comic book roles. CosimicBookNews (via ComicBookMovie) "reports" that now that Paradise Lost's production is on hold Warner Bros. is looking for Cooper to make a cameo in Man of Steel as Lex Luthor.

At the moment this nothing but an interesting rumor but if the studio is really intent on making more Superman films Cooper isn't a bad casting choice for Lex. It had been mentioned a while back the studio might be already working on a sequel to Man of Steel. If true it could end up as brief as Russell Crowe's cameo as Jor-El, Superman's father.

Bradley had been previously rumored for Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. He also had some interest in Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) before being replaced by Ryan Reynolds and Eric Draven in the now dead Crow reboot.

Warner Bros. Looking For Writers To Script Man Of Steel Sequel?

ThinkMcFlyThink reports that Warner Bros. is moving forward with a sequel to Man of Steel the Superman reboot from director Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300). The studio is currently looking at writers to pen a script for the sequel.

The writers in question include Steve Kloves (Akira, Amazing Spider-Man, Harry Potter Series), Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim, Clash of The Titans) and Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of The Lost Ark, Paradise Lost).

While I don't know all the legality of the Superman rights dispute the studio could lose the film rights if they don't keep making films. I'm sure they are happy with what Snyder and the excellent cast are delivering but I feel this could be just a way for the studio to keep their lawyers happy. That's of course this is even true as this very well could be just a rumor.

ShowBlitz reports that Russell Crowe is in talks to play Jor-El, Superman's biological father. It had been rumored that Daniel Day-Lewis and Viggo Mortensen had been offered the part in Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel. GeekTyrant also says Crowe's Gladiator co-star Connie Nielsen has been offered the role of Lara, Superman's mother. It's yet another interesting group of casting for the film that already stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner.

RUMOR: Daniel Day-Lewis Being Looked At For Superman's Father Jor-El?

In the same article from LatinoReview they claim the rumored involvement of Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood) was not for a villainous role. Instead it was for the iconic role of Jor-El (Superman's father) famously played by Marlon Brando in the original films. They also say that Krypton will be shown along with Superman's biological mother and father. I expect if Jor-El makes the film it would be a cameo and I'd like to think they would quickly move through any origin scenes. As we've been subjected to enough of the origin of Superman and it's unnecessary to re-track the story.
