One of the longest running comic series in history could be heading to theaters. It was announced that a movie could be optioned in the future. A comic aimed at kids and young adults that focused on Archie Andrews and his love triangle with Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge. I expect a large group of young Hollywood talent cast as the Riverdale gang. I'm not sure the ages of the cast or the setting, I would assume they would be high school seniors or in college.
My dream collaboration would be a script written by Diablo Cody and directed by Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim, Hot Fuzz). The pair would be perfect considering they are friends along with the fact Cody is amazing at writing for young characters.
Wright would also be a perfect considering an Archie movie would more than likely involve a lot of music. The Archies had characters join together to form a band. While I'm not expecting to be the main focus, like it was with Josie & The Pusscats. It would be apart of the regular story similar to what happens in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. I would expect the music to be more of what Karen O did with the Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack. Instead of the pop music it could be replaced with more of an indie touch.
