The Man With The Iron Fist

The Man With The Iron Fist (TBA)

Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel) is teaming up with Wu-Tang's Rza who helped score Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol.1 & 2. Their film will most likely be a Kung Fu movie, honoring the Shaw Brothers classics.Rza is a massive fan of the genre and has incorporated this love in his music. I'm hoping it will end up a lot like the cut scene from Kill Bill Vol.2 with David Carradine in the Chinese market. Tarantino according to Rza has given his blessing to the project and more than likely will produce. Hopefully Roth nabs the fight choreographer from the Kill Bill movies and the legend Gordon Liu. Of course it goes without saying Rza would end up taking over scoring duties.

Robert Rodriguez Presents Red Sonja

Red Sonja (2009)

According to an article from USAToday Robert Rodriguez is looking to produce a remake of the 1985 film which featured Bridgitte Nielsen and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Rodriguez's finance and muse Rose McGowan showed him the script which he was impressed with and offered her the leading role. I'm on the fence about this as I loved the idea of an updated Conan movie. Yet I think Rodriguez is taking on too many projects that ones that have sparked more interest are getting ignored such as Barbarella, The Jetsons and new Sin City films. Now with Red Sonja it looks like we'll be seeing an updated view of Conan author Robert E. Howard's world of fantasy, which would be great. I know a lot of people are angry about how Rose is starring in all of Robert's films, but if he puts more of his thoughts and touches to it because of that I'm all for it. McGowan is a talented actress and could pull off the roles if given the chance. I think it's smart for her to take on these roles considering in like 6 years she'll never get these type of roles ever again.

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange (TBA)

Director Guillermo Del Toro is rumored to be attached to Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange with Neil Gaiman (Stardust) writing the screenplay. It's unknown if the project will start pre-production before or after The Avengers film. Strange was eventually added to the Avengers and his character would fit Guillermo's love for magic and fantasy perfectly. Marvel Studios seems to like releasing project news prematurely about projects such as Captain America, Ant-Man and Nick Fury they have been announced then the news drys up. With Del Toro busy with two Hobbit movies and a possible Hellboy 3, Strange might not start production until 2011 or 2012. It's still an interesting take on the superhero genre. " A subtly maimed surgeon finds a new life when a wizard trains him to become the new Sorcerer Supreme of Earth."

No casting news or rumors have started yet but I would love to see Johnny Depp play the role. It's not that wild of an idea since Depp has enjoyed working on the Pirate movies, and loves working with genre directors. High profile and credited actors are playing comic book heroes and villains so that also may be a draw for him.
