RUMOR: J.J. Abrams Eying Ryan Gosling For Ben Skywalker In STAR WARS: EPISODE VII?

LatinoReview who were one of the first sites to link J.J. Abrams as the frontrunner director for Star Wars Episode VII is revealing some possible casting scoops. Originally, J.J. denied ever wanting to be involved with the franchise only to have LucasFilm announce him months later. Now they say Disney might have actors in mind for the male leads. They say Abrams is strongly considering Ryan Gosling for Ben Skywalker, the son of Luke. Ben is expected to keep the trilogy going along with a female Solo child (Chloe Mortez was linked a while back). Zac Efron is also mentioned for another part which just might be one of the solo kids (there are three in the books). Leonardo DiCaprio took a meeting with LucasFilm but ultimately passed to focus on Robotech instead.

Is Tony Stark The Creator Of Ultron Not Hank Pym In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON?

Putting together bits and pieces of information post Comic-Con can be tiring but sometimes a few gems pop-up. One being the revelation from Joss Whedon that Dr. Hank Pym won't be showing up in Avengers: Age of Ultron and that Ultron's origin will be altered to suit the film. Giving the impression that Pym won't be in the film at all which has been hinted for ages by Ant-Man director Edgar Wright. He had previously stated his characters would have their introduction and origins explored in his film first. Kevin Feige even confirmed this in an interview with Empire. Kevin also teased a Stark/Ultron connection (he mentioned the Age of Ultron teaser footage shown at Comic-Con) shortly after. Thor helped create Loki as villain in the first film, so will Stark build Ultron only to have him turn on mankind?

It's not hard to make that leap with Stark already dappling in artificial intelligence with JARVIS. Stark mentions Life Model Decoy (androids used by S.H.I.E.L.D.) in Avengers to Agent Coulson. So it's possible Tony was already working on them or they already existed in the MCU. In Iron Man 3 it went even further with his suits being able to work on their own, with a few bugs that almost saw Pepper getting hurt by one of them. It ended up leading to a massive battle with the Iron Legion taking out villains on their own. Could these be the seeds Marvel was planting to give us Ultron in Avengers 2?

Vin Diesel Hinting He Could Be Playing Either Thanos Or Vision In The MCU?

While Kevin Feige was downplaying Marvel's meeting with actor Vin Diesel at Comic-Con. The actor was still giving tidbits of information to EW, who he might be looking to play in the MCU. People having been under the impression that Guardians members Groot and Rocket Raccoon are solid candidates. However, a new statement from Vin seemingly puts him in a more villainous direction. As he mentions a "love story" similar to the one in the original Fast And Furious film. This gives us the more fuel that Vin might actually be in the running for the Mad Titan Thanos or Ultron's android creation Vision.

“Marvel was excited about bring a different kind of relationship, a different kind of love story, I guess kind of inspired from the Dom-Letty relationship, into the Marvel universe.”

The android villain turned Avenger member Vision has a well known love story within the comics. Which sees him and Scarlet Witch (confirmed as a villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron) fall in love. Diesel has been campaigning for ages to play Vision and there was quite a large fan outcry to have Agent Coulson play him. Marvel knows that the fans want him involved in one way or another. Ultron (the baddie of Avengers 2) builds Vision to defeat the Avengers but ultimately rejects Ultron to join the heroes instead.

Thanos is expected to be the villain behind the scenes of Guardians of The Galaxy leading to a big brawl Avengers 3. The Titan's obsession and passion for his love Death (an actual flesh and blood character in the form of a female human). His love for Death compels him take the lives of half the universe as an offering to her. Whedon actually spoke to the Thanos/Death relationship a while back which would mean that would be guiding factor to him getting his hands on the infinity gauntlet.

British Comedian Peter Serafinowicz Confirms Role In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

British actor Peter Serafinowicz (Spaced, Shaun of The Dead) has revealed via Twitter that he'll have a role opposite John C. Reilly in Guardians of The Galaxy as a Nova Corps Officer. Peter voiced Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

Aussie Actor Kellan Lutz In Talks To Join EXPENDABLES 3

TheWrap reports that Aussie actor Kellan Lutz best known for his role in the Twilight Saga is apparently up for a role in The Expendables 3. Lutz would play a member of a younger team of mercenaries that buts heads with the veterans. I would assume more names will be rolled out for this younger group as the weeks go by.

RUMOR: Next HULK Film Taking Cues From INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK And Coming 2016-2017?

While rumblings of a new Hulk film have been going on since Mark Ruffalo's breakout performance in Avengers. Joss Whedon and Mark talked about collaborating on it's script a while back. Talk of it's direction is seemingly going in a different direction than previously reported. Apparently, CBM is hearing from Marvel sources that Planet Hulk/World War Hulk isn't Marvel's current plan for the big green guy. Instead they might be looking at Marvel Now's run of Indestructible Hulk where Bruce Banner joins S.H.I.E.L.D. in exchange to help fund worthwhile science projects that will benefit society making up for his destructive ways. Having Banner/Hulk as the hero rather than the man on the run seems unique enough that the studio could really make a unique installment.

This may be the reason Banner shows up in the end credits scene in Iron Man 3. Since Marvel's button scenes tend to lead into the next big thing ala Fury-Avengers/Thanos-Guardians. While Doctor Strange is on the horizon for Phase Three an official release date hasn't been given. Along with the fact the studio has slotted two unnamed films for 2016 and one unknown for 2017. It's expected that Avengers 3 won't be happening until 2018. It's possible Marvel will announce three-four films that could be released between Ant-Man and Avengers 3. The fate of Strange, Black Panther and Inhumans hasn't been made public by the studio just yet. A new Hulk film taking over slot that would have been for Iron Man 4 makes some sense as well.

Zack Snyder Announces SUPERMAN/BATMAN Movie With David Goyer Co-Writing With The Director

One of the biggest announcements at Comic-Con comes from Zack Snyder. He announced that there will be a Superman/Batman film. Zack will co-write the Man of Steel sequel with David Goyer as production is expected for 2014 with a release date of 2015. Christian Bale won't be playing the Batman role as the part will be re-cast. Giving the impression that Joseph Gordon-Levitt won't be taking up the mantle either. This very well could end up becoming a film version of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns or even the long in-development Superman Versus Batman.

Ashley Miller And Zack Stentz In Talks To Write STAR TREK 3 For Paramount

BadassDigest reports that Paramount is currently in early talks with screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz to write a draft for Star Trek 3. Apparently, the studio wants production to begin in 2014 and aren't willing to wait for the previous writers who are currently busy with other projects. Miller and Stentz are best known for contributing to Thor and X-Men First Class. Along with writing for J.J. Abrams' Fringe and Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Joss Whedon Announces Ultron As The Villain In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Teasing Tigra As Well And Aaron Johnson Comments On Quicksilver Casting

Joss Whedon has finally announced the title for the Avengers sequel which is entitled Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Confirming that Ultron will be the villain of the feature instead of the long rumored Thanos. Whedon goes even further by stating they'll altering his origin as Hank Pym won't be his creator. It had been thought that Ultron would be saved for Ant-Man or introduced there first. That doesn't seem to be the case and the robotic baddie could instead have connections to Captain America: The Winter Soldier instead.

Joss also mentioned to DigitalSpy his interest in trying to get female Avenger Tigra "The Were Woman" added to the lineup. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (Aaron Johnson?) have been confirmed as new additions as well and could end up villains too. He's stated problems with trying to use both Wonder Man and Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel as they aren't cinematic or compelling enough characters. Tigra would be something different and would finally give a us a female heroine with powers. It's possible that Whedon could make lesser known Avengers members compelling and have stay within the Avengers franchise.

"I kind of have a thing for Tigra; I'm not gonna lie. I remember being an adolescent boy going, 'She's furry, but that should be gross and it's kind of not. That's hot!"

While promoting both Kick-Ass 2 and Godzilla actor Aaron Johnson briefly commented on the talk that he is being pursued for the role of Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron to MTV. Oddly enough, he doesn't deny anything but gives hints it's a strong possibility. It's starting to sound like the character ends up on the villainous-side of a divided S.H.I.E.L.D. which is expected to be seen in Captain America: The Winter Solider.

“Oh, that’s um, I don’t think I can talk about that, but it’s definitely an exciting prospect…”

“Yeah, it really is. [QuickSilver] has a really interesting character and background. In fact, my wife has just been out and bought the first ever cover, a really really old vintage one where it’s the first time Quicksilver’s ever been on the front cover.”

Kevin Feige Confirms Thanos For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, More Characters Confirmed, New Concept Art Featuring The Cast And Props/Costumes

Marvel's Kevin Feige confirmed to IGN (via TotalFilm) that indeed cosmic villain Thanos (Vin Diesel?) will play a big role in Guardians of The Galaxy afterall (rumored for Avengers 3, not the second film). Actor Lee Pace (Hobbit Trilogy) has been confirmed for Kree leader Ronan The Accuser (leading into Inhumans?) and Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan will be playing Marvel villain Nebula. New addition Djimon Hounsou will be playing Kree warrior Korath The Pursuer in the film as well. This information comes straight from the Comic-Con panel. Including a bunch of prop photos that feature Starlord's helmet and the Nova Corps uniform. James Gunn also mentioned that casting announcements for Rocket Raccoon and Groot will be very soon.

“I think somebody on the Guardians panel let loose that Thanos is a part of the movie, which he is,” revealed Feige. “Thanos plays a part in Guardians, as the mastermind.”

Zachary Quinto Says STAR TREK 3 Aiming For 2014 Shoot, Confirmation J.J. Abrams Will Be Replaced As Director?

Actor Zachary Quinto (Spock) finally was able to breakout a bit as secondary lead rather than a supporting character in J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek franchise. So when he gives us production tidbits we should listen very closely. He gave a new quote (via FirstShowing) stating that Paramount was moving quickly on the next film with an early 2014 shoot. There had been rumblings that directors such as Joe Cornish (Ant-Man, Attack The Block) were being looked as possible replacements for J.J. Abrams. As the director is expected to shoot Star Wars: Episode 7 the same time that the third Trek film goes into production.

"Star Trek 3 should be filming, I suppose, next year. It’s going to be made a lot quicker than the last one. That’s the plan, although nothing is confirmed yet."

RUMOR: Does Marvel Want Joseph Gordon-Levitt To Play DOCTOR STRANGE?

While Comic-Con is about to begin in San Diego, LatinoReview drops a big news item to kick the week off. They say that Marvel Studios is talking about getting Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, 500 Days of Summer, 50/50, Don Jon, Looper) for the lead in their Doctor Strange film. It might seem odd that they'd try to get a supporting actor from The Dark Knight Rises who might end up taking over Batman's mantle in future films. However, JGL was in the mix for Starlord in Guardians of The Galaxy before Chris Pratt ultimately got the role. So Marvel has the young actor on their radar and could want him for a bigger role.

The versatile actor has proven he's able to handle dramatic, romantic, action and comedic roles a perfect melding for a new Marvel property like Strange. LR does state it's a rumor at this point but considering WB might be looking for new Bruce Wayne instead. That could lead Joe to look elsewhere for a franchise project. He's already got a directing credit under his belt alongside Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier actress Scarlett Johansson. Perhaps, Marvel might even consider him to direct as well. Since his film Don Jon is gathering independent critical praise which the studio does fawn over.

Rob Liefeld Calls On Dwayne Johnson To Play Cable In X-FORCE

Ahead of 20th Century Fox's Comic-Con announcement that they'll be making an X-Force film with Jeff Wadlow scripting. The comic's creator Rob Liefeld has been quite vocal online about the project. Revealing recently that Cable and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) would be the focus of the film. He's gone to Twitter again and called out Dwayne Johnson to consider taking the role of Cable.

Johnson has had a massive year earning close to a billion dollars in box office thanks to G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Fast And Furious 6. Making him a bankable choice to take a superhero role. He's currently shooting Hercules and might be involved with G.I. Joe 3 down the line. There had also been talk of possibly taking on a villain role in the Terminator reboot. Personally, I'd rather see Dwayne tackle his own Marvel franchise with X-Force than playing a character like Luke Cage. Johnson actually had to turn down the part of Drax in Guardians of The Galaxy because of his commitments to Hercules.

HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN Director Jason Eisener Wants To Remake MONSTER SQUAD

East Coast Canadian director Jason Eisener made a name for himself by winning a Grindhouse trailer contest which saw his faux trailer for Hobo With A Shotgun shown in front of Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse in Canadian theatres. Since then he got funding to expand the trailer into a full length gonzo flick which has gather quite the cult following. He's been making the rounds promoting his involvement with the horror anthology V/H/S/2. Jason spoke to DiaboliqueMagazine revealing he'd like a shot at remaking a cult 80's horror flick. That being Shane Black's (Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout) little known kids horror comedy The Monster Squad. The film was an homage to the Universal monsters meets the Goonies, shaping my love for the genre as a child. We don't really see many live-action horror/scary  for children these days. However, with a generation of parents growing up on Goosebumps it's safe to say that Jason's visual style could be perfect to give us a less dark horror film for little ones.

"Oh, in a heartbeat. In a heartbeat. And I’ve been offered remakes, and usually I’m just like, “Why? There’s no reason for this.” But I feel like The Monster Squad, there’s a reason why kids need a movie like that today. So I would definitely jump to the challenge and I’d put my heart and soul and everything I had into a Monster Squad remake, for sure. BUT I would want to do it with Fred Dekker. He’d had to be involved."

SPECULATION: ANT-MAN Script Is Done And Could Benedict Cumberbatch Be In The Running For The Lead?

Edgar Wright confirms to DigitalSpy that Ant-Man script he co-wrote with Joe Cornish (Attack The Block) is finally completed. It's expected that casting will be underway soon with the release of World's End on the horizon. Edgar will likely begin production as soon as Guardians completes it's UK production. As previously rumored that Ant-Man would need extra post-production for the effects-heavy film. Giving enough time to get the special effects right for it's November 2015 release date. It's expected that Ant-Man will begin shooting before Avengers 2, so casting could be already underway over in the UK. We've heard previously names like Armie Hammer, Bradley Cooper, Joel Edgerton and Nathan Fillion being linked before, but I have an idea who might actually be already in mind (yet, not announced by outlets).

While nothing has exactly concretely linked Benedict Cumberbatch to Ant-Man in previous reports, he's been on Marvel's radar for a while. Ben has a large international following which would be needed to give Ant-Man the giant promotional push it would need to get audiences excited for the new property. He also has previous history of working with a high volume of Marvel alumni such as Tom Hiddleston/Loki (War Horse),  Scarlett Johansson/Black Widow (The Other Boleyn Girl), Natalie Portman/Jane Foster (The Other Boleyn Girl), Toby Jones/Zola (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy/Amazing Grace), Anthony Mackie/Falcon (Fifth Estate), Dominic Cooper/Howard Star (Starter For 10), Rebecca Hall/ (Starter For 10), James McAvoy/Charles Xavier (Atonement), Michael Fassbender/Magneto (12 Years A Slave), Scarlet Witch hopeful Saoirse Ronan (Atonement) and almost Iron Man 3 actress Jessica Chastain (Crimson Peak). Below are few more tidbits linking him to both Edgar Wright and the production.

Edgar quietly revealed shooting an action sequence in Star Trek Into Darkness (pictured above) which had people thinking it was Ant-Man or Iron Man 3 related (which it wasn't). The scene in question was John Harrison (Cumberbatch) and the Enterprise crew facing a unit of Klingons in a heated battle scene. Marvel has been gaga over actors from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek franchise. Hiring Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Zoe Salanda (Gamora in Guardians of The Galaxy) for lead roles, while Chris Pine and Alice Eve have been linked for tests.

Edgar and Joe Cornish have previously worked with Sherlock creator/show runner Steven Moffatt on Peter Jackson's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of The Unicorn. Ben and Martin Freeman just happen to star in that series. Wright is also friends with Peter Jackson who produced the film (expected to direct it's sequels) who directs both Ben and Martin in the Hobbit Trilogy.

Ben's Sherlock and Hobbit co-star Martin Freeman is close friends with Edgar taking roles in his cornetto trilogy (Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and a leading role in The World's End).

Ben visited Edgar during the editing of World's End, which is rumored to be the same time he's quietly taking early meetings with potential actors for Ant-Man.

Steven Moffatt and Benedict visited the Marvel offices to do an interview about Sherlock. Before leaving he playfully posed with Avengers cut-outs, a possible hint to his future? At the time everyone thought this meant he was going to play Strange.

Rob Liefeld Says Cable And Deadpool Will Be In X-FORCE, Confirms Ryan Reynolds?

Rob Liefeld the creator of Marvel's X-Force along with characters such as Cable and Deadpool tells ComicBook (via CBM) his creations will be involved in the film. What that will look like in the long run is yet to be seen since there are other fan favorite characters from the X-Force lineup. It remains to be seen which other members of the X-Force team will make it into the film. However, it might be a sure bet that Domino will be in there as she is also a Liefeld creation and staple character of the series.

“I can pretty much eliminate some sites suggestion that the Milligan X-Statix stuff is in the mix. An X-Force film is Cable. Is Deadpool.”

Liefeld also Tweeted this concerning casting for the film “Ryan Reynolds IS DEADPOOL! Cable could be many…”. Giving the impression that Ryan Reynolds will indeed be apart of the film. The Deadpool film might lead into X-Force or it might be delayed even more to push X-Force forward first to gather more audience awareness for Deadpool.

Hugh Jackman Wants Marvel/Fox/Sony To Workout A Deal For Wolverine And Spider-Man To Join THE AVENGERS

If Robert Downey Jr is the face of MCU, then Hugh Jackman is the poster-boy of Fox's X-Men franchise. The actor and producer was recently asked by Collider if he'd like to join The Avengers. We've previously heard promising talk from X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner that she'd love to see X-Men characters involved in sequels (with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver already set for the second installment). Jackman goes further and says he's talked to the Marvel liaison to the studios about putting it together with Fox and even mentions Spidey (calling out Sony?) needing to be involved. A lot of profit sharing deals and extended contracts would have to be signed for this to even be considered. Studios aren't keen on sharing their superheroes and Marvel/Disney might not be willing to share profits with multiple studios. The film logo for Oscorp (from Amazing Spider-Man) showed up in a video game promoting Iron Man 3, which looked like the first step in bridging the multi-studio franchises into one single cohesive Marvel film universe.

"I literally asked the same question the other day to Tom from Marvel who works with all the other studios, he works with Sony and Fox, that’s his job to liaise. I said, ‘Man, can this happen?’ and he goes ‘Look, it’s not gonna be easy because you’re working with different studios and they’re their properties.’ But I believe—maybe I’m optimistic, I understand at Marvel they’ve got The Avengers, they’ve got a lot of big things going on, but at some point I just find it almost impossible that there’s not a way to bring Iron Man, all the Avengers characters, Wolverine, the X-Men characters, Spider-Man, and somehow get them in together."

"I don’t see the impediment! I’m like, okay you’ve got three studios, just split it three ways in terms of the cost, and happy days it’s all coming together! I would love to… I’m in for it, I’m totally up for it because I think that would be really exciting for fans across the board."

However, it would make sense to have other characters inhabit the same cinematic world and could be a giant way to promote other characters. Neither the X-Men films or Spider-Man films have reached a billion like Iron Man 3. The only thing is that Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige have seemed hesitant about the idea, since they could develop new characters and franchises within the MCU instead. Sharing that much screentime with outside Marvel characters might take away from others. Then again, Feige has brought up the idea of Civil War (for the third installment) which would make an excellent excuse to bring in Spidey and Wolverine. There had also been rumblings that Sony might have to sell off characters like Spider-Man and Marvel/Disney would be expected to pay top dollar to get the rights back. Fox on the other hand are about to announce an X-Force film and will likely finally greenlight Deadpool at Comic-Con.

X-MEN Spinoff X-FORCE In The Works As Jeff Wadlow Signs On To Write And Possibly Direct, Will Cable Be The Focus?

THR confirms rumblings the Fox is looking to announce an X-Force film at Comic-Con. They add that Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow has been hired to script the X-Men spinoff and could even direct it. Wadlow's connection to Matthew Vaughn (director of First Class and producer of Fantastic Four reboot) and Mark Millar (creator of Kick-Ass and Fox's Marvel consultant) might have nudged the studio to select him.

There's no word on the lineup which has been changed over the years. Yet, there has been talk Fox is looking for a way to introduce a film focusing on Cable and is a staple of the comics. The more recent incarnation of the group includes Wolverine, Domino, Psylocke, Archangel, Deadpool, Warpath, X-23 and Fantomax. I would assume that Fox wants to connect these franchises together and would like see Wolverine/Deadpool involved in some way. While Jeff is writing this, I'd like see Matthew Vaughn return to the X-Men franchise and be allowed to have his own set of mutants to play with.

THE WOLVERINE International Posters And Cover Of Total Film

Stan Lee Believes A SILVER SURFER Film Is Around The Corner

MTV caught up with comic legend and Marvel creator/writer Stan "The Man" Lee. He revealed previous plans that Marvel wants to make Ant-Man and Guardians of The Galaxy. Including long rumored projects like Doctor Strange and Black Panther. The latter two, Lee and Marvel's Kevin Feige had been talking up for years as excellent poetiental films. Stan also brought up that a Silver Surfer movie is still in the works but would be way down the line. Lee is in the loop more than others concerning the Marvel films and it would be interesting to see Fox or Marvel actually tackle the origin story.

Back at Marvel, they are frantically looking for what is the next one they’re going to do. There is no way they won’t eventually do a Silver Surfer movie. It may not be for a few years because they’re thinking and working on Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy. Everything we have. And the fans seem to want all of them. But they’ll get around to a Silver Surfer feature because he’s a wonderful character.

At this point 20th Century Fox sill holds the film rights to The Silver Surfer. They were even trying to put together a solo film a while back with J. Michael Straczynski (Captain Planet, He-Man, Thor, Fantastic Four 1-2, World War Z, Babylon 5) writing a draft of a script and Alex Proyas (Dark City, I Robot, The Crow) attached to direct. Laurence Fishburne (the voice of the Silver Surfer) and Doug Jones (his body) were contracted to reprise the role in future films. The project would eventually be put on hold because as it would have had been a sequel of sorts to the second Fantastic Four film (which was a bit of a disappointment). A Fantastic Four reboot is currently underway and will shoot this Summer, so it's unknown Fox's plans for The Silver Surfer. Considering Fox has Deadpool and possible other X-Men films/sequels as their current focus.

However, the rights could eventually go back to Marvel if they had their way. During the renewal talks for the Daredevil film rights between Marvel and 20th Century Fox. Marvel had offered an extension to the studio in exchange for the use of Silver Surfer and Galactus. It had been reported that Marvel wanted to include the characters in Guardians of The Galaxy and or their cosmic side of the MCU. Nothing official came of it and the Daredevil rights reverted back to Marvel. It's possible Marvel could have negoationed an announced deal concerning the Silver Surfer rights which are linked to The Fantastic Four. A new Fantastic Four reboot (needed to be made or rights would also revert back to Marvel) will shoot this Summer and might allow Fox to link that franchise with X-Men Days of Future Past. Rumblings that Mark Millar would help Fox string the Marvel films into their own cohesive MCU. X-Men Days of Future Past was expected to be the first film and would fix all the issues of X3/Origins by streamlining a single vision for the X-Men franchise.
