Films That Should Be Made: Give Me Liberty (Martha Washington)

Written by Frank Miller (Sin City) and drawn by Dave Gibbons (Watchmen). This series will most likely be looked at for adaptation soon, since comic books are being optioned left and right. It's an origin story of the heroine Martha Washington which nothing less than action packed. This could be a great way to introduce a lead black female superhero film. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up a trilogy.

"A young girl from the ghetto struggles against impossible odds to save the world from the Fat Boy Burger corporate army, the Aryan Thrust, and the meanest Mr. Clean ever... the Surgeon General! That young girl is Martha Washington, and she redefines heroism in the Eisner Award-winning story"

Jada Pinkett-Smith (Collateral) would make a great Martha. She has enough action background with the Matrix films and also has the dramatic skills needed. Gabrielle Union (Bad Boys 2) would also be a good choice.

I'd want to see the Wachowskis direct because it sounds like it could be up their ally. Plus it would need a futuristic world created for it. The Wachowskis are a perfect fit to create the world of Martha Washington. Michael Bay would also be a good choice to direct, let's face it this is going to be a large scale action flick.
