Marvel Studios To Make Three Films A Year?

Marvel Studios has always stated their mantra would be one film at a time. It looks like the studio could end up making three superhero films in 2012 which includes Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2. Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 being the first in the studio's history to have overlapping productions. Having a juggernaut like Disney behind them they can finance films quicker than previously.

If this process is indeed going to be Marvel's new model. I wouldn't be shocked to see Nicky Fury, Doctor Strange and Ant-Man end up in the 2013 shooting block for the studio. Of course nothing is set in stone here and the Captain America sequel hasn't even been officially announced. Other Marvel movies currently in development include Black Widow, Hawkeye, Inhumans, Black Panther and Iron Fist.

  1. That would be 4 movies for 2014 unless Nicky Fury, Doctor Strange and Ant-Man do a CA2 and start in the end of 2013 for a 2015 release.

  2. Like IM3/Thor filming around the same time, maybe Dr. Strange can start in November (November/December 2013 release) and CA2 starts December 2012.

  3. Both Thor and Iron Man are shooting at different studios and have different companies working on their VFX.. it was the reason the two could be made at the same time... I have a very strong feeling that Doctor Strange could very well shoot at the same time as Captain America 2.. Since they already have a consultant working on Strange that worked on Thor, so in theory the studio/VFX company working on Thor 2 could do Strange...While the same studio/VFX company (ILM) doing Iron Man 3 could end up doing Captain America 2...

I think Marvel is waiting for the box officer return on Avengers before any movement on other productions but that's just my guess. If Avengers bombs (unlikely) they would have to scale back projects to make up for the loss of profits.

  4. Doctor Strange seems to be the biggest priority at the moment along with Nick Fury and Ant-Man.. I really hope this is true and Marvel Studios ends up rolling out multiple productions like every other studio does...
