Who Should Play Hank & Janet In Ant-Man?
With the Captain America casting almost coming to a close. I tried to think of who could be cast in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. Of course there are two major roles to be filled with Dr. Hank Pym and his wife Janet who both become superheroes with the help of science. I've come up with some ideas below.
Jason Bateman: I'm thinking director Edgar Wright who is friends with both Diablo Cody and Jason Reitman could look to Bateman for the lead. Wright cast Micheal Cera (Juno), Anna Kendrick (Up In The Air) and Johnny Simmons (Jennifer's Body) in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World all actors were from Reitman/Cody films. Of course it doesn't hurt Bateman gave great performances in both Up In The Air and Juno. He recently co-starred with Simon Pegg in the upcoming science fiction action/comedy Paul. Jason was also able to show a dark side which Hank is known for in both Smokin' Aces and State of Play.
Joel McHale: If I had to choose an unknown comedic actor for Hank I think Joel McHale would do the role justice. I think Marvel will be hiring lesser known actors for their leads from now on. Joel McHale is best known for hosting The Soup and his NBC series Community. He is an amazingly quick witted comedian so if they make this a comedy he would be great. Joel previously played a role in Steven Soderbergh's The Informant and had a scene stealing performance in Spider-Man 2.
Maggie Q: In the Ultimate comics Janet is depicted as coming from Asian decent. Marvel is trying it's best to expand their multicultural casting. If I had to pick an Asian actress who I'd like to see in role of The Wasp it would have to be Maggie Q. I thoroughly enjoyed her performances in both Live Free or Die Hard and Mission Impossible 3. Maggie seems like the perfect fit for the Marvel films.
Olivia Munns: While we know Olivia will have a role in Iron Man 2. We don't actually know who Olivia is playing. I believe if she is just voicing War Machine's on board computer they could bring her on to play Janet. Olivia is wildly popular from her show on G4 and has been slowly taking more comedic roles. She has recently starred in Broken Lizard's Slammin' Salmon, Date Night and Freeloaders.
