What Could Have Gone Wrong With Spider-Man 4?

There are many issues with Spider-Man 3 that could have spilled over into Spider-Man 4. Here's a short rundown of things that could have happened in the film and they aren't positive things. Most of us forgot all the horrible rumors that were also attached to the project. We now know that script and budget issues were the reason for Sony/Raimi pulling the plug.

1. The Vulturess: This was most likely never going to happen but the rumor was enough to make people cringe. With the many villains in the world of Spider-Man why try to create a new female villain based on an existing one? The Black Cat would have been fine.

2. Mary Jane: I thought Kirsten Dunst was okay in the first installment that was until she became nothing more than a whining mopey depressed girl. Mary Jane had always been beyond upbeat and happy even with her troubles. Not to mention the fact MJ was a model/actress. While Dunst was a teen model growing up she did become somewhat of an awkward looking girl. The whole point of MJ is that she is way out of Peter's leaguge not the girl next door. It got annoying when she was kidnapped in every film.

3. Baby Spidey: Another horrible rumor that could have seen Peter, Mary Jane or both with a child. Sorry that's not something that would help the story. Look at Ghostbusters 2 one of the worst elements was the baby being the focus of the film. I could have seen the cliche scene of the baby crawling on a ledge to have Peter swing in.

4. Lizard Not The Villain: How could you tease Dr. Connors for two films and not make him the film's main villain? It's beyond odd and a very poor choice from everyone involved. I'm sure they could have done away with the lab coat and purple pants to make it work.

5. Raimi Didn't Have The Heart For It: It seemed to take forever to get Sam Raimi and the cast to be interested in the project. If it was forced it could have really killed the franchise and ruined Sony's chances of making more Spider-Man films. We could have seen Raimi go back to painful slapstick scenes as filler as we did in the last film.

6. No Bruce!: It's a given people cared about Bruce Campbell's cameos. Why couldn't they have just made him the film's villain? I know they were giving him a bigger role but unless it was Mysterio or Kraven it would have been just disappointing.

7. J. Jonah Jameson Gets Fired: Jameson is one of the best supporting characters in the series. The thought they would have his scene invovle him getting fired and loosing the Daily Bugle is a horrible idea.
