Deadline reports that Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Expendables 2) is in talks for the lead role in The Raven. It has a script from Michael Gilio and Justin Marks and is expected to begin production in June.

Zoe Saldana In Talks To Play Gamora In Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

THR reports that actress Zoe Saldana is in talks to take the female lead in Guardians of The Galaxy. She would take the role of Gamora the deadliest woman in the universe and adopted daughter of Thanos. Gamora eventually sets her sights on taking down Thanos and joins the Guardians. She already has two massive sci-fi franchises under her belt with Avatar and Avatar 2-3 expected to shoot in the near future along with playing Uhura in the rebooted Star Trek franchise. Zoe would be the third cast member added to the cosmic project which previously cast Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Starlord and Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer.

Controller Might Be A Villain In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, Could This Be Another Hint To Iron Man Joining The Film?

LatinoReview which has been slowly leaking plot details of numerous comic book projects has a new Marvel one. They say that Marvel baddie Basil Sandhurst aka The Controller will play henchman to Thanos in Guardians of The Galaxy. There has been talk of Thanos being the actual main villain of the film which could lead into Avengers 2. Marvel has confirmed Thanos for Guardians but his role in the film is currently unknown.

Now that the Controller is involved it seems like another pathway to having Tony Stark/Iron Man join the film. Basil is also a longtime villain of Stark's and Tony recently joined the team in the recent reboot of the Guardians. Add this to the rumored button scene in Iron Man 3 plus his Space Suit Armor it's possible (though not confirmed) we could see Stark in the film at some point. Perhaps, bridging the Guardians and even Thanos for Avengers 2.

Matthew McConaughey Accepts Lead Role In Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR

Actor Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyer's Guide, Mud, Wolf of Wall Street, Magic Mike) had been offered the lead role of Cooper in Christopher Nolan's sci-fi film Interstellar last week. The actor confirmed to StarTribune (via ThePlaylist) that he's accepted the part in the film. Giving us the first confirmed actor in the outer space/warmhole/time-travel picture. Michael Caine had also given a heads up he'd have a role in Nolan's next project but an official announcement hasn't been made yet.

Rob Zombie To Make Hockey Flick BROAD STREET BULLIES Next

Rob Zombie is finally returning to original movies with his upcoming Lords of Salem coming out this month. ComingSoon was able to talk about what's next for Zombie. While there had been talk of Rob Zombie making his long in development exploitation films Tyrannosaurus Rex, Werewolf Women of The SS (based on Grindhouse faux trailer) and The Blob remake another project is peeking his interest. Oddly enough, it's a different genre for the musician turned filmmaker as he's planning on making a period sports film. Broad Street Bullies will focus on the true story of the 1970's Philadelphia Flyers.

"That [script] is finished," Zombie tells ComingsSoon.net. "I just finished it. That was an epic battle because that was the first time I had to really research something. There's no fiction in it, it's all true. It was a year of research, my God, I read every f--king book and, obviously, the game ends with game 6 against the Bruins when they win the cup. I must have watched game 6 a thousand f--king times until I had it memorized. It's a pretty epic script. I was just in Philadelphia a couple of weeks ago and all of those guys still go to every game. I was sitting in the box with Joe Watson and Bernie Parent. The Broadstreet Bullies still reign there. I got to get that movie right or they'll take me out and hang me."

"We had so many offers for it but we haven't taken one yet," he continues. "It's funny because everybody was like 'Oh, a hockey movie, nobody's going to want it.' But as soon as we announced it, everyone came out of the woodwork. Everybody wanted to get involved. Nothing against horror movies and I don't mean this to sound any way, but no agent wants to put their client in a horror movie, nobody would take them seriously. But suddenly, with this type of movie, everyone is coming forward, which I wasn't prepared for."

Peter Jackson Also In The Running For STAR WARS EPISODE VIII?

During a recent Hobbit video FirstShowing spotted a possible script or outline for Star Wars: Episode VIII in Peter Jackson's desk with his name scrolled across it. It could have been a bit of joke since the video was released yesterday on April Fools. Disney/LucasFilm might be actually looking at Peter to tackle the second film. Previously, Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men, Gravity) had been rumored for talks to make Episode VIII. There is a bit of speculation LucasFilm could be aiming to have different directors handle the new trilogies. Similar to how the original three films worked as Lucas (Abrams now) directed the first one and godfathered the other two productions. Considering that Paramount is talking about Star Trek 3 possibly coming out in 2016, it's unlikely that Abrams will be able to make both Trek 3 and Ep. VIII.

Jackson is currently doing post-production on The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug with some added Battle of The Five Armies scenes to be shot for There And Back Again this Summer. It's possible that LucasFilm could be aiming for a 2017-2018 release date for Episode VIII which could allow Jackson to clear his other projects including the upcoming sequel to Tintin which begins production sometime this year. Peter has personal and work relationships with Steven Spielberg which might have led to at least talk of him considering the project. Jackson hasn't exactly made a straight up science fiction film yet but was at one point producing the Halo movie. Not to mention producing Neill Blompkamp's stunning sci-fi sociological thriller District 9. Jackson did briefly talk about the new Star Wars films with MTV back in December. You never know making a Star Wars film could be on Peter's bucket-list or just a clever April Fools joke. Considering Jackson has always worked with both Weta Workshop and Weta Digital for his films. While ILM has provided the special effects for basically all of the LucasFilm projects. I don't think Jackson would direct but could help write/produce the film.

"Obviously if he (Lucas) had interest in doing himself, then that's what we would all like to see," he said. "But it's better to have more 'Star Wars' films than no 'Star Wars' films."

"The one thing that Tolkien said is that the wonderful thing with mythology — and George Lucas has created a mythology of his own — is that it keeps getting handed from one person to the next, and each person embellishes it and expands it," Jackson added. "It actually keeps mythology alive, because it should be a living, breathing organic thing where it expands over time. It doesn't just stay stagnant. So I think what George is doing with 'Star Wars' is terrific."

AVENGERS 2 To Begin Production In Early 2014

ScreenDaily reveals that Marvel Studios is keen on Britain's Pinewood-Shepperton Studios for Avengers 2. The sequel to the billion and a half dollar Avengers is expected to shoot there early next year. It's sound stages housed previous Marvel productions Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor: The Dark World. It will also be used for James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy this Summer and possibly Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. The latter hasn't been given a start date for production but had been rumored for a UK shoot. Joss Whedon will be back to write and direct, the film's cast and character lineup has yet to be announced.

WHAT IF: Fox Wanted A Juno Reunion For A X-MEN Spin-Off Centered On Ellen Page's KITTY PRYDE

During SlashFilm's Filmcast/FilmAid writer and director Jason Rietman (Thank You For Smoking, Young Adult) revealed he almost directed an X-Men film for Fox. He said the studio was talking to him to put together a Kitty Pryde solo film after the success of Juno. Having Jason direct, Diablo Cody write and of course Ellen Page reprising the role of Kitty. The project didn't end up happening but Kitty is being linked with large role in X-Men Days of Future Past. It's possible talk of solo film could come up again considering Page's previous worldwide exposure thanks to Inception. I wouldn't even be shocked if she became involved with the Wolverine franchise, since Kitty and Logan had their own team-up adventures.
