Junkie XL Will Score MAD MAX FURY ROAD

ThePlaylist has caught wind that Tom Holkenborg better known as Junkie XL has been hired to score George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road. The film has been delayed for years and will finally get released in 2014. It stars Tom Hardy as the new Max, along with Charlize Theron and Patrick Stewart taking key roles. Tom isn't new to the film scoring scene collaborating with Hanz Zimmer on the scores for Man of Steel, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises. He also recently composed the score for 300: Rise of An Empire. It's an interesting turn around seeing respected musicians take turns in their careers to score full length films, so I'll be interested to hear what he comes up with.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Paul Rudd Named Front-Runners For ANT-MAN

Variety reports that the two front-runners currently for Edgar Wright's Ant-Man are Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Don Jon, Looper, Dark Knight Rises, Inception) and Paul Rudd. Joseph has been on Marvel's radar for quite sometime being linked for both Star-Lord (Guardians of The Galaxy) and Doctor Strange. Rudd's comedic resume is worth noting but hasn't really made any action flicks, so his name being attached is a bit odd. However, I wouldn't have imagined Chris Pratt for Star-Lord before James Gunn placed him in that role. It's possible the two could be going up for the same role of Hank Pym but Wright has mentioned using both Pym and Scott Lang in the film. Two characters that shared the title Ant-Man in the comics. I wouldn't rule out both actors taking lead roles.

DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY Composer Hans Zimmer To Create Score For AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

CinemaBlend has confirmation from Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb that composer Hans Zimmer will be scoring the film. Sony is obviously going above and beyond securing talent for the sequel. Zimmer is best known for composing scores for films such as Pirates of The Caribbean, along with upcoming films Interstellar and perhaps Batman Vs Superman. Having Zimmer on board is yet another step in the right direction for the Marvel films. Spidey could finally have his own reworked film theme, along with giving each new character their own identity through sound (ala Joker, Bane and Selina Kyle). It's inspired choice on the part of Sony which is similar to Marvel's recent hiring of Tyler Bates (Watchmen) to score Guardians of The Galaxy. The Marvel scores have never really had an impact on me, so here's to that changing in 2014. The DC movies have oddly had the best scores with Watchmen, 300 and The Dark Knight Trilogy being the highlights. It's about time Marvel upped their game in this arena.

RUMOR: Does Marvel Want Joseph Gordon-Levitt To Play DOCTOR STRANGE?

While Comic-Con is about to begin in San Diego, LatinoReview drops a big news item to kick the week off. They say that Marvel Studios is talking about getting Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, 500 Days of Summer, 50/50, Don Jon, Looper) for the lead in their Doctor Strange film. It might seem odd that they'd try to get a supporting actor from The Dark Knight Rises who might end up taking over Batman's mantle in future films. However, JGL was in the mix for Starlord in Guardians of The Galaxy before Chris Pratt ultimately got the role. So Marvel has the young actor on their radar and could want him for a bigger role.

The versatile actor has proven he's able to handle dramatic, romantic, action and comedic roles a perfect melding for a new Marvel property like Strange. LR does state it's a rumor at this point but considering WB might be looking for new Bruce Wayne instead. That could lead Joe to look elsewhere for a franchise project. He's already got a directing credit under his belt alongside Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier actress Scarlett Johansson. Perhaps, Marvel might even consider him to direct as well. Since his film Don Jon is gathering independent critical praise which the studio does fawn over.

Cillian Murphy Also Joins The Growing Cast Of TRANSCENDENCE

LatinoReview report that Christopher Nolan's good luck charm Welsh actor Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Inception, Dark Knight Rises, Dark Knight, Sunshine, 28 Days Later) has taken a role in Wally Pfister's sci-fi thriller Transcendence. The film stars Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Morgan Freeman, Paul Bettany and Kate Mara. Nolan is producing but it's still odd that Chris didn't grab Murphy for Interstellar first.

WHAT IF: Fox Wanted A Juno Reunion For A X-MEN Spin-Off Centered On Ellen Page's KITTY PRYDE

During SlashFilm's Filmcast/FilmAid writer and director Jason Rietman (Thank You For Smoking, Young Adult) revealed he almost directed an X-Men film for Fox. He said the studio was talking to him to put together a Kitty Pryde solo film after the success of Juno. Having Jason direct, Diablo Cody write and of course Ellen Page reprising the role of Kitty. The project didn't end up happening but Kitty is being linked with large role in X-Men Days of Future Past. It's possible talk of solo film could come up again considering Page's previous worldwide exposure thanks to Inception. I wouldn't even be shocked if she became involved with the Wolverine franchise, since Kitty and Logan had their own team-up adventures.

Chris' brother Jonathan Nolan (Memento, Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises, The Prestige) has written the film's script. No word on casting so far as Wally Pfister's Transcendence is looking for it's supporting cast at the moment. Nolan will also produce that sci-fi project which has a release date of April 25th 2014.

Rebecca Hall Will Play Johnny Depp's Wife In Sci-Fi Thriller TRANSCENDENCE

HeatVision reports that British actress Rebecca Hall (Vicky Christina Barcelona, Iron Man 3, The Town, The Prestige) has landed the female lead in Wally Pfister's directorial debut Transcendence. Hall will play the wife and fellow scientist of Johnny Depp's character. Overall details are unknown but the film will be in the vein of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Inception. Depp's character will somehow have his conscious uploaded into a super computer and the movie will go from there. Fellow Iron Man alumni Paul Bettany will also have a role in the film.

Christopher Nolan Returning To Sci-Fi With INTERSTELLAR

HeatVision is reporting Christopher Nolan's next film will be a full jump into the world of science fiction. We had a taste of sci-fi with Inception using dream-machines and the world of the dream being explored. This original film Interstellar written by his brother Jonathan Nolan will be based on the sciencetific theories of Kip Thorne. It's story involves time travel and alternate dimensions, and sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole. Interstellar will be made under Nolan's Syncopy banner but will be shared between Paramount and Warner Bros. At one point Steven Spielberg had been interested in the project.

Nothing is being mentioned cast-wise but Michael Caine confirmed last year he was going to have a role in Nolan's next project which would be from an original concept. It's possible that other Nolan regulars will take part in the journey as well. Currently, Nolan is producing Wally Pfister's directorial debut sci-fi thriller Transcendence. A start date for Interstellar isn't revealed either but I'm sure casting will high priority for Nolan soon.

Could Joseph Gordon-Levitt Lead THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?

Deadline reports yet another name is in the mix for the role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord for James Gunn's Guardians of The Galaxy. They say that rising star Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been named as another candidate for Quill. They don't say he's been offered the part but it would be a giant get for the film if they were able to cast him. The Marvel space epic has been searching for it's leader with actors such as Lee Pace, Joel Edgerton, Jim Sturgess, Jack Huston, Eddie Reddmayne and Zachary Levi mentioned as testing. Along with Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy, Troy), James Marsden (Superman Returns, X-Men Trilogy) and Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of An Empire, Gangster Squad) being reported as interested in the part as well.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been balancing both blockbuster roles with smaller projects at the same time. Taking part in action films like Inception, The Dark Knight Rises and Looper. While still mixing it up with 500 Days of Summer, 50/50, The Lookout, Brick, Lincoln and his directorial debut with Don Jon's Addiction alongside Scarlett Johansson (Avengers, Iron Man 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier). Their rumored relationship could have something to do with him circling the role as well. He's a solid choice with a loyal following which could help the little known cosmic superhero team get some much needed exposure to non-comic book fans. There has been speculation that his character John Blake from The Dark Knight Rises would be taking up the mask for Justice League and new Batman films.

The film is based on the game franchise  focuses on a black-ops operation Echelon. Eric Warren Singer (The International, American Bullshit) will write the film's script while a major studio has yet to pick-up the project. This is the second massive casting announcement for the company after landing Michael Fassbender for the lead in their Assassin's Creed movie.

RUMOR: INCEPTION 2 Really Happening And Next For Nolan?

Inception is one of the highest grossing original films ever made making $820 million worldwide during it's theatrical release. It wasn't based on existing material and wasn't a sequel. However, it looks like Warner Bros. is eager to have Christopher Nolan develop it into a franchise with Inception 2. A while back it was revealed by actor Tom Hardy (via ScreenRant) that the cast had signed-on for sequels. Even Nolan commented on a potential sequel during an interview.

“It’s not something I want to say no to, but it’s not something I’ve given a lot of thought about.”

Over the summer a rumor sparked that Nolan's next film could be Inception 2. ComicBookMovie seems to have a source within Warner Bros. that could see the concept of inception actually being the star of the film. They say they'll ditch the original cast (already seems fishy) and focus on the military properties of the device. In the film Arthur mentions briefly the device was originally created by the military, a simple hint to a sequel? Apparently, if Nolan turns it down they're going to pursue it with another director. This sounds like a giant leap and could be completely fictional. That said, Christopher hasn't made an announcement about his next film, so anything could happen.

"Rumors spread that a group of people managed to pull off Inception, and middle-eastern terrorists soon catch onto the idea and plan to perform Inception on world leaders, forcing them to dissolve law and order".

Noomi Rapace, James McAvoy, Tobey Maguire And Christoph Waltz Also Linked For TRANSCENDENCE

A few more names besides Johnny Depp have been linked for Wally Pfister's Transcendence via THR. They include Noomi Rapace (Dragon Tattoo, Prometheus), James McAvoy (Trance), Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man) and Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained, Inglourious Basterds). Included is the first bit of story on the project which is in the vein of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Inception.

The story centers on a man who creates a computer that develops a malevolent awareness. Depp will play a husband who gets sucked into the computer, contigent on changes Pfister is making to the script, sources say.

Johnny Depp Joining Wally Pfister's TRANSCENDENCE

Deadline reports that Johnny Depp is in talks for the lead in Wally Pfister's Transcendence. The film is the directorial debut of Christopher Nolan's Oscar winning director of photography. It doesn't have a synopsis but it's easy to assume it won't be a dry drama or a comedy. Wally is best known for shooting films such as Inception, Dark Knight Rises and Memento. Nolan and his wife Emma will be producing with Alcon Entertainment backing the production.

Cinematographer Wally Pfister Will Make Directing Debut

Deadline reports that post Dark Knight Rises cinematographer Wall Pfister will make his directing debut with Alcon Entertainment. The production company aligned with Warner Bros. worked with Wally on Christopher Nolan's Insomnia. It's unknown the plot, title and genre of the project but considering his eye for detail it will be one project to watch out for. Wally has previously worked as a cinematographer on films that include Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rise, Moneyball and Inception which earned him an Oscar. I would assume that Nolan has been teaching Wally the ropes during their time together as a team.
