Cillian Murphy Also Joins The Growing Cast Of TRANSCENDENCE
LatinoReview report that Christopher Nolan's good luck charm Welsh actor Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Inception, Dark Knight Rises, Dark Knight, Sunshine, 28 Days Later) has taken a role in Wally Pfister's sci-fi thriller Transcendence. The film stars Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Morgan Freeman, Paul Bettany and Kate Mara. Nolan is producing but it's still odd that Chris didn't grab Murphy for Interstellar first.

Alex Garland Making Directorial Debut With EX MACHINA
Author and screenwriter Alex Garland will be making the jump to feature director according to THR. He'll be making a sci-fi thriller entitled Ex Machina, which likely has zero connection with the Brian K. Vaughn comic or Appleseed. Garland is best known for writing films for Danny Boyle such as The Beach (his original novel was adapted), Sunshine and 28 Days Later. He's also written the original film that centers on a billionaire programmer who handpicks a young employee to spend a week at his remote estate and participate in a test involving his latest invention -- an artificially intelligent female robot. The film is getting a small budget of $15m and will shoot this Summer or Fall.
There had been rumblings during the production of Dredd that Garland who wrote and produced the film had to come in and did some re-shoots. Rumors also pointed to him taking over in the editing room as well. It's possible that Pete Travis was actually including Alex into the process of the film to give him tools to go off to direct Ex Machina.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo Talks Highlander Reboot
Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later, Intruders) seems to be cautious these days when talking up future projects since he backed out of both The Crow remake and the Bio-Shock film. Another film that has him attached is Universal's reboot of the touch and go Highlander franchise. Frensnadillo gave a brief to statement ThePlaylist on the direction his film that should ease the hardcore fans like myself of the original movie. He says he's focusing on the original mythology of the first film. Ignoring the alien subplot of the second film and the inclusion of the television characters in the latter sequels.
"I’m developing the possibility of making 'Highlander...I find the concept very interesting, immortality as a curse. We’re using the materials of the universe, but this is some kid of reboot, since the story could use a new approach."
"Everything comes from the universe of the original film. There will be no aliens!"

Danny Boyle To Direct Third 28 Days Later Film?
DreadCentral reports that Danny Boyle is returning to the 28 Days Later franchise. Boyle is expected to direct the third film which should be larger than the previous movies and could expand the rage virus to a worldwide outbreak. It's been rumored since the second film was released that Boyle wanted to direct the third film. The site claims they have comments from Danny Boyle himself. While this is exciting he's been talking about this since 2007 and has gone on to direct Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours.

Judge Dredd (2011)

Alex Garland is writing a screenplay for the reboot based on the notorious ultra-violent comic book series from 2000AD. Garland is best known for his collaborations with Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) on The Beach, Sunshine and 28 Days Later. Danny Boyle's DNA Films will produce the project but he has yet stated if he will direct. While the character seems a perfect fit for a Garland script. The original film starring Sly Stallone never met expectations and ended up a buddy action comedy. This time around it seems Garland will take a serious approach to the story.

Here are a few pieces of concept artwork.
Casting Thought

Gerard Butler (300, Gamer) seems to me the perfect choice for the role of Dredd.
