AGE OF ULTRON SET PHOTOS: Chris Evans And Black Widow Stunt Double Sport New Costumes

Chris Evans has finally joined the production of Avengers: Age of Ultron, as he was spotted on the set in South Korea. Evans was sporting a new costume with the Avengers logo. Scarlett Johansson hasn't showed-up but her stunt double was riding on a motorcycle and was also wearing an updated costume.

RUMOR: Larry Kasdan Writing Joe Johnston's BOBA FETT Spin-Off?

We've been hearing rumblings of a Boba Fett spin-off since 2011, coming straight from the mouth of his creator Joe Johnston. Joe had mentioned the project during press interviews for Captain America: The First Avenger. It seemed that Johnston was serious about the project as he had showed a outline or first draft to Lucas, trying to get the spin-off made back then. Since that statement Joe exited both the Captain America and Jurassic Park franchises. Nothing says that Joe will be directing this movie, but since he created and design the character it's expected he'll be heavily involved.

It was confirmed by Disney and Lucasfilm the studio was aiming to release spin-off films between the main episodic installments. Giving fans a Star Wars Universe film every year, what those would be wouldn't be entirely known. There had been rumblings and sources that pointed to Han Solo, Yoda and Fett prequels being serious contenders. The latter was taken more serious by myself, when 1313 (a sandbox prequel game centred around Boba Fett) was cancelled.

A trade also reported that Zack Snyder (Dawn of The Dead, 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel, Batman Vs Superman) had pitched a jedi-focused spin-off inspired by The Seven Samurai to Lucasfilm. Zack would double-up with Warner Bros. taking on Batman Vs Superman and possibly Justice League (if BVS isn't already that) in the future. I'd love it if they considered this one over a Solo or Yoda film, for the expected release date of second spin-off in 2018.

A new rumor coming from AMC could give the Boba Fett project new legs and become the first one to go into production. As an industry guest revealed that Larry Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back, Return of The Jedi, Raiders of The Lost Ark) is being tasked to write the film. Larry was recently hired along with Simon Kinberg to write Star Wars spin-offs and future episodes, but ultimately replaced Michael Arndt as the screenwriter on Episode VII.

The first spin-off is expected to be released sometime in 2016, so having a script in development at the moment would make sense and put the project on the right path to go into production likely in late 2014 or early 2015. The timeline of the project is unknown but a prequel is very likely. I'm sure that Larry is pretty much helping out Lucafilm outline their entire new features, since Kinberg is now busy at Fox with writing-producing Fantastic Four and X-Men: Apocalypse.

Legendary Prop Sculptor Brian Muir Will Work On GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

BleedingCool reports that legendary prop sculptor Brian Muir will be working on Marvel's Guardians of The Galaxy. Brian Muir has worked on a numerous amount of stellar productions including Star Wars: A New Hope (Vader, Storm Troopers), Alien (Space Jockey), Superman, Excalibur, Dragonslayer, The Dark Crystal, Indiana Jones And The Raiders of The Lost Ark, Krull, Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom, Return To Oz, Willow, Erik The Viking, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, Lost In Space, Planet of The Apes, Harry Potter (The Prisoner of Azkaban, The Order of The Phoenix, The Half-Blood Prince, The Deathly Hollows), James Bond (Skyfall, Die Another Day, Tomorrow Never Dies, Golden Eye, License To Kill, The Living Daylights, A View To A Kill, For Your Eyes Only, The Spy Who Loved Me) John Carter, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World and Snow White And The Huntsman. Including creating the iconic helmet for Darth Vader in the first Star Wars film.

Chris Pine Open To Joining STAR WARS EPISODE VII?

In January, LucasFilm will make an announcement concerning Star Wars Episode VII (director). However, while we've heard about old cast memebers like Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Samuel L. Jackson and Ewan McGregor open to returning. We haven't heard much in the way of new faces for the film. Actor Chris Pine was asked by Empire (via CBM) if he'd be interested in having a role in the new Star Wars franchise. Pine states he's already committed to three Star Trek films but says there is room for both. Abrams in the same interview says there were early talks to direct the new films and confirms again he ultimately bowed out.

"I'm committed to three. That's the contract I signed. And as far as I know, everyone else is in the same situation. But there's obviously room for both Star Trek and Star Wars," he added. "We both have plenty of things to offer sci-fi. But I'm not saying any more that that! There are more than enough Star Wars stories around at the moment!" 

It's possible he could do both considering Star Trek 3 is still currently only in early development stages with it's script. Reports claim that pre-production on Episode VII will begin in the Spring, so casting will likely we starting soon. The writers for Star Trek 3 are currently busy with other scripts, so it's possible Pine could shoot Episode VII before Trek 3 even has a finished script. Chris has previously been linked for post-Star Trek leads in Akira (now dead) and was a contender for Captain America (Joe Johnston, a rumored candidate to direct Ep. VII). Most recently taking up the Jack Ryan mantel in the new untitled Kenneth Branagh (Thor) directed movie. We've seen actors take on multiple franchise roles most famously Harrison Ford who took on iconic parts as Jack Ryan (Pine plays him in the new film), Han Solo and Indiana Jones. So having Pine play a bunch of roles in high-profile projects isn't exactly a stretch.

Disney Making Joe Johnston's BOBA FETT Film?

It's obvious from the recent chat with George Lucas and new LucasFilm head Kathleen Kennedy. That Disney will be making films beyond Episode VII, Episode VIII and Episode IX. Could this mean that we'll be getting Star Wars films outside of those installments?

Back in 2011 director Joe Johnston (while promoting Captain America) talked to ScreenRant about his Boba Fett film. Johnston is the man who originally created the look for Boba Fett and has been trying to make a film. Apparently, Joe had enough material for this film to pitch it to Lucas. Factor-in his connections to Disney (via Cap, Rocketeer and Honey I Shrunk The Kids) and Star Wars (art director and designer on the films) it makes him a strong candidate to make more films. Considering there are talk that the live-action TV series (focusing on bounty hunters) and video game Star Wars 1313 possibly featuring Boba. It might be enough to spark interest from fans for a movie. Disney very well could end up mining the Star Wars universe for all it's worth. Similar to how Marvel makes multiple films connected in the same comic book universe. However, these films might not be set during the same time periods or follow the same characters.

TO BE CONSIDERED: Jennifer Connelly As Madame Hydra

Madame Hydra is Baron Strucker's (new Hydra leader) second in command and the leader of the HYDRA sub-group The Serpent Seven. The role has been filled by many different women including Viper and former SHIELD agent Contessa Valentina Allegro De Fontaine. It could be an interesting to see SHIELD infiltrated by HYDRA having them trying to take the group down by covert methods. The villain had been rumored for The First Avenger but was used in the film's game tie-in instead. Her involvement in Winter Soldier hasn't been confirmed but a cameo could help setup a third film.

Oscar winning actress Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) would be my choice to take on the villainess. Her credits include Blood Diamond, Requiem For A Dream, Little Children, Dark City, Labyrinth and Darren Aronofsky's upcoming bible epic Noah. Not to mention the love interest in Joe Johnston's (First Avenger) adventurous Rockeeter. Yes, she played Betty in the original Hulk film but that has no direct connections with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ray Stevenson has played both The Punisher and Volstagg, so Connelly playing another Marvel character isn't hard to imagine.

Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) is portraying Fox's version of the character in The Wolverine who also goes by Viper. However, she won't have ties with either Hydra or Captain America.

Oscar nominated Argentine-French actress Bérénice Bejo (The Artist) is another person I'd love to see in the role.

Scott Porter Wants To Play Nova In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, James Gunn Confirmed As Director

MTV caught up with Friday Night Lights actor Scott Porter about Guardians of The Galaxy and his campaigning for the role of Nova. The actor also commented on confirmed director James Gunn tackling the property. Porter has been spotted at a bunch of premires rocking Marvel tees and is a self-proclaimed comic book geek himself. Recently he has voiced Cyclops in the X-Men anime series. Scott had also tested for the role of Captain America for First Avenger.

"Marvel just announced that they're doing 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' which is another property that I love. I read it growing up....I'd love to play Nova or another [cosmic character]."

"Gunn is a unique choice. I think he could be a really great shephard for that property," added Porter. "I think 'Guardians' is going to be a lot of fun. I think it'll be very cool. I thought the next thing I might try and go after is 'Heroes for Hire,' but it looks like 'Guardians' is around, so..."

James Gunn has finally confirmed he will indeed direct and rewrite Guardians of The Galaxy.

Fantastic New Avengers Poster Finally Puts The Team Together

CAST EM': The Secret Service

One of the more intriguing comic book films on it's way is Mark Millar's The Secret Service. The premise of the film is what happens when a young wayward hoodie from North London is trained to become a government spy (not unlike James Bond). Mixing elements from Bond, UNCLE and SHIELD along with the sensibilities of Millar and graphic eye of legendary artist Dave Gibbons (Watchmen). The first issue of the comic is released this month but the names of the characters/villain haven't been revealed. Once the issues start rolling out I'll update this page accordingly.

From what I know there seems to be an older spy character that is either the partner or mentor of the young hoodie. That role seems perfect for Richard Armitage since he's already starred in spy projects like Spooks, Strike Back and Captain America: The First Avenger. Richard also has that strong leadership quality that will be seen in the Hobbit films as Thorin Oakenshield. Not to mention he has a Bond ora to him and physical presence most actors are lacking. There has been talk of a realistic edge to the film and with his background in fighting and weapons it's going to be a major asset.

A notorious theme with Millar and Vaughn is that they love to use up and coming actors for lead roles. We've seen this with Daniel Craig/Tom Hardy in Layer Cake, Charlie Cox in Stardust, James McAvoy in Wanted, Aaron Johnson in Kick-Ass and Nicholas Hoult in X-Men First Class. A new actor that I just noticed is Tom Payne and he would be perfect for the hoodie turned spy. Payne has a major role in HBO's Luck as the cocky jockey. I wouldn't count out Charlie Cox who is the same age as Payne and previously worked with Vaughn on Stardust. Charlie has a rather physical role on HBO's Boardwalk Empire as a bodyguard/hitman and a former soldier in the Irish Republican Army. He's another actor I picture for the role.

When it comes to the film's villain I'm sort of in the dark because I don't know anything about the character. I'll just have to throw out names like Sean Bean (Patriot Games, Ronin, Goldeneye)  and Peter Mullan ( Red Riding Trilogy, Children of Men, Welcome To The Punch, War Horse, Tyrannosaur) until we know more about the series.

Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson Could Star In Michael Bay's Pain And Gain

Variety reports that Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson could star in Michael Bay's dark comedy action thriller Pain And Gain. The film is about the real-life extortion ring and a kidnapping plot that goes horribly awry in the Miami area, hatched by a couple of Floridian bodybuilders. It's been compared to Fargo and it's budget is aimed at around $20 million which is small for Bay.

Captain America Screenwriters Talk Sequel & Howling Commandos Spin-Off

 While talking with IFC (via ComicBookMovie) screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely talked about Captain America 2 confirming they've completed an outline for the the sequel. Along with seemingly colaberating with Joss Whedon to figure out where Cap's character should be in Captain America 2. Since a few things that likely were planned for the second film are now being included into The Avengers.

McFeely: "We needed to read Joss' 'Avengers' before we could go on and do 'Captain America 2.' We needed to see if he did anything different, character-wise - and he hadn't, he's an excellent writer - but we also needed to see what he had done in terms of Steve poking around the modern day and dealing with it." 

Markus: "So much of Captain America's adventures occur in the present day, so there are a lot of things I'd like to touch on. That said, we did leave the center section of 'Captain America' baggy enough to let him have adventures you didn't see [in the first film]. So, we kind of have enough room to play with [for the sequel]." 

McFeely: "Still, if he had another adventure entirely set in World War II, the stakes are kind of lessened, because you know he survives and you know what happens to Bucky and you know the Howling Commandos survive long enough to have a toast in a bar." 

Markus: "You know Cap wins and you know that whoever he was fighting didn't destroy the world, because you've already seen things that happen after it. So the stakes are, well... But then again, did that bother anyone with the second 'Indiana Jones' movie?" 

I'm a big fan of the first film so I'm excited to see that they're going forward with the sequel with Joe Johnston still expected at the helm. My only concern is that Joss Whedon had added things to the last film's script to incorporate the Avengers and I assume to add humor as well. Whedon is well known for his whitty oneliners which seemed all over The First Avenger. So hopefully Joss is still going to be apart of the screenwriting side along with Markus and McFeely. There also seems a rich story to be told with Winter Soldier whether it's in a sequel or the Howling Commando spin-off.



The pair also mentioned the potential Howling Commandos spin-off that has been rumored for a while now. Which they're open to making and could end up being very similar to Kelly's Heroes and Inglourious Basterds. The latter isn't surprising as Quentin Tarantino took inspiration for The Basterds from The Howling Commandos comics.


McFeely: "They're certainly cool, and in a different movie, we would've certainly had a little more 'Kelly Heroes' or 'Magnificent Seven". thing going on. (Talking about if they had more screen time) 

Markus: "It would've been like 'Inglourious Commandos." 

McFeely: "Personally, I'm a big fan of that type of movie - the ne'er-do-wells banding together to fight a common cause. So I'm open to it, but... well... I'll just say I'm open to it."

I have to admit that I almost enjoyed the scenes with the Howlers more than the solo Cap scenes. So I'd be on board with a Howling Commandos spin-off. Yet, I'm concerned with the amount of spin-off talk considering the laundry list of other original projects at Marvel that have yet to get off the ground. Their has already been talk of spin-offs for Nick Fury, Black Widow, War Machine, Hawkeye and The Warriors Three. I assume it's just way for Marvel to pump up audiences/fans to root for the supporting characters.

Amanda Righetti Confirmed As SHIELD Agent, Is It Sharon Carter?

One of the Captain America scenes that went over my head during the end was the appearance of actress Amanda Righetti (Friday The 13th, Mentalist, Role Models) as a SHIELD agent. This likely means that Amanda is playing Sharon Carter in Avengers considering her stunning resemblance to Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter. It would also make sense considering Sharon could explain what happened to Peggy along with developing a relationship that would flow into Cap 2. The other possible SHIELD agents include Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) and Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine.

Avengers Promo Poster Features Hawkeye & Modern Cap Costume

Someone was able to nab this cellphone pic of an Avengers promotional poster at the Licencing Expo. It's likely artwork for the Hasbro toyline as it's similar to the Thor and Captain America art that leaked last year. It does however give us a first look at Hawkeye in his Avengers costume. Along with updated looks for both Captain America and Iron Man. I'm unclear if the Iron Man armor seen in the image will actually be on screen. It's interesting to see the group together even if it's only toy promotional artwork.

The Comic-Con presence for Marvel Studios is said to be muted this year. As there will not be a promotion for Avengers. I would like to think the studio could put together a second teaser trailer just in time for Captain America.

Derek Luke Reprising Howling Commando Gabe Jones In Avengers

Variety recently did a story on Derek Luke and revealed he will be seen in Avengers. Luke plays founding member of The Howling Commandos Gabe Jones in Captain America during the WWII scenes. The question is how is he going to be shown in the film? The article doesn't speak on that aspect but there are few ways he could return.

First, it could be a flash back to previous experiences/adventures of Cap with the Howlers. Second, it might involve the infinity formula which was given to a dying Nick Fury during WWII which slowed down his aging. This formula also affected the Howling Commandos (Jones, Dum Dum Dugan) as it made it's way into their bodies as well from close contact. Previously there had been talk of a Howling Commandos spin-off and if they introduce the infinity formula they could push forward with more of their adventures throughout American conflicts (Korea, Vietnam, Cold War).
