Robert Redford Confirms Role In CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, Is He Playing Alexander Pierce?
LATimes was able to directly ask the legendary Oscar winner actor Robert Redford about joining the cast of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Robert confirmed he'll be in the film and talked a bit about the reasons for agreeing to make it. The rest of cast includes Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones and Georges St-Pierre. His character named Pierce will be a higher-up in S.H.I.E.L.D. It's possible he could be a combination of Agent Alexander Pierce and the classic Sgt. Nick Fury.
“I'm doing this film because it's different. It's a new thing for me... I like the idea of stepping into new territory. I'm excited by it. I also think it's a good bunch of people who really know what they're doing.”

Christopher Nolan Wants Matthew McConaughey To Play The Main Character Cooper In INTERSTELLAR?
Deadline reports that Christopher Nolan is very interested in casting Matthew McConaughey as the lead in his wormhole sci-fi adventure film Interstellar. Matthew would play the main role of Cooper. McConaughey started his carare making well received films like Dazed And Confused and A Time To Kill but started chasing paychecks with horrible romantic comedies. His recent string of films such as Mud, Lincoln Lawyer, Killer Joe and Magic Mike have given him a new life in Hollywood. Matthew ended up earning an Independent Spirit Award for the latter. Apparently, there is already Oscar talk for his AIDS drama Dallas Buyer's Guide. The actor went all Christian Bale and lost a crazy amount of weight to play his character. Matthew will also be seen in Martin Scorsese's Wolf of Wall Street alongside Leonardo DiCaprio later this year, which could have also helped get Nolan's attention. The only other actor linked for Interstellar includes Michael Caine. He already teased a role in the film before it was even announced. We won't have to wait long for the film's release as it's coming on November 7th 2014.

Director Jon Chu Gives Update On MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE
While G.I. Joe: Retaliation is about to overshadow the first film with expected big worldwide box office numbers this weekend. It's director Jon Chu should take some pride in the fact a lot of fans are rallying around the more "faithful" film. Next he'll be tackling another 80's toy/cartoon property with a reboot of Masters of The Universe. Chu gives IGN a brief update on the project which has a script from Alex Litvak (Predators) was picked up by Sony when Warner Bros. gave up on it. There is also talk of having Dolph Lundgren (Expendables 1-2, Universal Soldier Movies) who played the original He-Man come back to do a cameo.
“We’re still early but we’re deep in experimenting. This is the most fun phase for me because we get to try everything we’ve ever wanted to try in [Masters of the Universe] and then we get to throw out all the things that don’t work, which is most of it. [This allows us to know] what our tone is, where we’re going to head with it and it’s a very important phase because it shows [us] the direction we’re going to go in the future. So we’re very early, we don’t know a lot yet other than that we’re playing around and having a lot of fun.”
Jon also spoke with ToplessRobot and gave a little bit more about the remake.
"We're going for slightly more serious, and I wouldn't say "serious" as a dark tone you don't necessarily want He-Man to be in, but it's not campy. We're not going campy. It's sort of an origin story of how He-Man came to be, and to me that gives you a lot of opportunity to create real culture in this world. What is Eternia really like, what are the cultures, what are the languages they're speaking, what are Snake Men, what are Beast Men, what are all these things, and how do they exist in this world? So we're taking a real look at creating life on this planet, on this world, that hopefully will translate. And again, we're in a very early designing phase of it, the script is great, but we're still very early at figuring out exactly how theatrical we go, and how real we go, and how dark we can take it."

Judy Greer Will Play Female Chimp Cornelia In DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
Vulture reports that comedic actress Judy Greer (Arrested Development, The Descendants) has joined the cast of Dawn of The Planet of The Apes. Judy will play female chimp Cornelia (a nudge to Cornelius obviously) via motion capture. Who might end up the love interest to Caesar (Andy Serkis), I assume both will be speaking in full sentences in the film.

MGM Will Help GK FIlms Make The TOMB RAIDER Reboot, Will Olivia Wilde Or Camilla Luddington Play Lara Croft With Mark Fergus Directing?
It's possible the studio could look to actress Camilla Luddington (Californication) who did all the voice and motion capture for new the game. The rebooted origin from the game will be the basis for the new films. She could develop into a franchise star such as Chris Hemsworth was for Thor. Since the Lara Croft/Tomb Raider brand might be big enough to sell the film without a massively well known actress in role.

RUMOR: Fox Burned After Damon Lindleof's Exit Of The PROMETHEUS Sequel, After Convincing The Studio To Make A Trilogy?
BloodyDisgusting is reporting that 20th Century Fox and director Ridley Scott are upset over the exit of screenwriter Damon Lindelof. The writer came in for rewrites and sold the studio on the idea of a trilogy before jumping ship after the release of Prometheus. Instead of Ridley's original two-part Alien prequel the film went into a massively different direction. The studio is looking to keep things moving and are looking for writers who can develop two more films. They are apparently taking pitches from potential writers. It's first time we've ever heard about Fox's plans for an actual Prometheus trilogy. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are seemingly locked in for future films.
Ridley is currently finishing up his drug crime thriller The Counselor and has a few other projects in development including a Blade Runner sequel. It's possible if they're able to come together with a new writer that is able to put together a script soon it could go into production. Jon Spaihts who wrote the original script isn't mentioned and seems like he's being kept from moving forward with the new films. BD points to an old interview with Jon via Empire that first revealed his plans for multiple films.
“I did have a plan for multiple films and the conversations I had with Ridley was about a new franchise, from the beginning. We talked about a possible trilogy, or a duology, but more often as a trilogy. And I did have pretty broad notions as to how we were going to get from this world to the original Alien – the baton pass, closing the circle, if you will. So yes, I did have plans for two other films. I came up with an even more twisted sequence than the Medpod, but I cannot tell you what happens…
“My vision of the trilogy would have involved the arrival of the Yutani Company and a couple of other major plays around the Engineers themselves: the revelation of an additional grand Engineer design, and the possibility of seeking an Engineer homeworld. That shot of the ship flying at the end offers a lot of creative ways to play with this. But it feels like it brackets you into the search for the Engineer homeworld and home civilisation. That’s an interesting challenge.”
I have a couple of writers in mind that could tackle this franchise. One writer I could see jump into this world is Drew Goddard. He recently took on the role of director with Cabin In The Woods but like Damon has ties to the complex series Lost. Drew also wrote sci-fi films Cloverfield and adapted Robocaplyse or Steven Spielberg. Scott Z. Burns is another solid screenwriter who could develop a solid story. He's written sci-fi scripts for 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Dawn of The Planet of The Apes (another Fox production), Side Effects and Contagion. Not to mention spy flicks The Bourne Ultimatum and the original script for The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Tom Hardy And Jason Statham In The Mix To Play Snake Plissken In ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK Reboot?
NYDailyNews is reporting that actors Tom Hardy (Max Mad, Dark Knight Rises) and Jason Statham (Hummingbird, Expendables) are currently in the mix for the role of Snake in Escape From New York. A reboot of the classic cult film which is being produced Joel Silver and is expected to reveal the origins of Snake.
Hardy is currently shooting Animal Rescue and is expected to shoot the thriller Child 44 next. He also recently wrapped on Mad Max: Fury Road and lined up a starring role in Splinter Cell. Jason Statham may have a role in Fast And Furious 7 and is expected to reprise a supporting role in Expendables 3. Tom is easily the go to actor since he was previously in the mix for the film when it was still with producer Neal Mortiz. Considering he's already been apart of the reboot of Mad Max the studio could believe he could do the same for Snake. Statham hasn't really had a franchise role since The Transporter and Crank.
