Astrid Berges-Frisbey Will Play Guinevere In Guy Ritchie's KNIGHTS OF THE ROUNDTABLE: KING ARTHUR

Deadline reports that French-Spanish actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey (Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) has been tapped for the female lead in Guy Ritchie's Knights of The Roundtable: King Arthur. Astrid will play the key role of Guinevere, and will likely be expected to be apart of the purposed six-part fantasy epic. The film already has Charlie Hunnam possibly playing Arthur, with Idris Elba circling a mentor role similar to Merlin.

Charlie Hunnam Will Likely Lead Guy Ritchie's KING ARTHUR Movie For Warner Bros.

Deadline has word that Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam is in final talks to take-on the lead role in Guy Ritchie's next film. A remaining of the classic tale of King Arthur, has been long in-develop at Warner Bros. So, much so that two competing projects were developed until Ritchie's vision won over the studio. This epic was originally envisioned as a six-part story, but it's unknown if Richie or Warner Bros. will pursue sequels. An official title has yet to be given to the project.

Hunnam has slowly developed into a budding blockbuster actor, taking-on the lead in Guillermo del Toro's mostly successful kaiju/giant robot homage Pacific Rim, which has spawned an untitled sequel set to release on April 7th, 2017. He also recently wrapped production on del Toro's haunted house horror flick Crimson Peak, it's due-out on October 16th, 2015.

Deadline adds that, actor Idris Elba who previously worked with both Guy on RockNRolla and Charlie in Pacific Rim, is currently circling the role of Arthur's wizard mentor/protector Merlin. If you ask me, give Elba whatever role you want knocked-out of the park.

Guy Ritchie's next film The Man From U.N.C.L.E. A period spy action flick based on the popular television series stars Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer, and is set for release on August 14th, 2015.

Guy Ritchie's KING ARTHUR Movie Coming Summer 2016

Warner Bros. is prepping the production of Guy Ritchie's (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch) next film which will be based on the legendary tale of King Arthur. The studio has set the release for July 22nd, 2016 via Deadline. It's expected that the studio will begin casting, as soon as he finishes post-production on  the period spy-flick The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which stars Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer.

It's going to be a busy summer lineup as some of the other films include X-Men: Apocalypse, Captain America 3, Batman Vs Superman, and Amazing Spider-Man 3. Deadline reports that Italian actor Luca Calvani will play the villain in Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E. His character Alexander, is a shipping heir who smuggled Nazi gold at the end of WWII and is behind the sale of nuclear arms.The film stars Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer and Swedish actress Alicia Vikander which is currently shooting in Europe.

Elizabeth Debicki Joins The Cast Of Guy Ritchie's THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.

Variety reports that Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby) has joined the cast of Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E. The rest of the cast includes Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander. Elizabeth apparently beat out actresses such as Rose Byrne and Charlize Theron for the part.

THR reports that British actor Henry Cavill, about to breakout thanks to this Summer's Man of Steel playing all-American hero Superman. Might be replacing Tom Cruise in Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E. alongside Armie Hammer (Social Network, J. Edgar, Lone Ranger). Cavill is still in talks at this point for the role of American spy Napoleon Solo.

Tom Cruise Could Lead Guy Ritchie's THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., Ritchie Could Walk If A Lead Can't Be Secured

THR reports that's it's do or die time for Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E. at Warner Bros. The film (budding franchise) is about to loose it's director if the studio can't secure a lead. Tom Cruise is newest actor being looked at for the role of Napoleon Solo. If it doesn't pan out Guy might walk to focus on another one of his many projects. Those include Treasure Island and The Real RockNRolla which Ritchie has been developing for a while now. Sherlock Holmes 3 is still being worked out as Robert Downey Jr.  is trying to figure out if Avengers 2 and possibly Iron Man 4 are in the cards.

Cruise's All You Need Is Kill setup at Warner Bros. is getting them excited to him in another big projects and already has a successful franchise based on a classic TV series with Mission: Impossible. It will be interesting to see if this goes forward before Mission: Impossible 5 that just landed Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher, Usual Suspects) as it's director. Tom also has a few possible projects that have been developing in the last couple of years including Guillermo del Toro's At The Mountains Of Madness and Van Helsing reboot. The former almost went into production at Universal but is could move to another opened minded studio.

More recently, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon had been offered the leads but like many before them passed. When Steven Soderbergh (Haywire, Ocean's 11, Traffic) was originally attached to direct a slew of talent was being looked at including George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Joel Kinnaman and Michael Fassbender. Scott Z. Burns had penned the film's script when Soderbergh was involved. There had been talk of making it a period piece (60's) setting itself apart from other espionage themed action flicks.

Scott Z. Burns Hired To Rewrite 'PLANET OF THE APES 2'

HeatVision reports that 20th Century Fox has hired Scott Z. Burns to help rewrite the script for Planet of The Apes 2. The untitled sequel to Rise of The Planet of The Apes is gathering speed with a draft already written by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa who wrote the first film. Burns is best known for Bourne Ultimatum, Contagion and the in-development film version of The Man From UNCLE.

Director Rupert Wyatt and actor Andy Serkis are currently locked for the sequel, no word on James Franco. I think James Franco monotoned performance was one the worst aspects of the film it's possible his character could be done away with or even recast. Normally with the Planet of The Apes sequels the humans leads are usually replaced new actors with each installment, hopefully this trend continues.

The next film will likely continue the viral sub-plot that should eventually wipe out a majority of the human population. Human survivors align themselves with Caesar and his new society. In the sequel to the original film that Rise was based on, a group from this new society goes into the now abandoned city sparking aggression with the militarized surviving humans set on wiping out the apes. These humans are armed to the teeth with guns, vehicles and tanks. It's doubtful this sequel will go that far into the lore.

Joel Kinnaman Offered Lead In Robocop Remake

Deadline reports that MGM has sent out an offer to Joel Kinnaman to play officer Alex Murphy who eventually becomes Robocop in the remake of the 1987 cult favorite. Kinnaman was originally going to play Lancelot in Warner Bros. Arthur And Lancelot before it was put on hold. He was also in the mix for the role of the Russian spy in WB's The Man From UNCLE when Steven Soderberg was involved. He's been slowly ramping up as an actor with a large role in AMC's The Killing and starring in the Swedish crime thriller Snabba Cash franchise. Joel also had supporting roles in box office smashes Safe House and David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The role had been linked to names like Michael Fassbender and Russell Crowe at one point.

Mark Hamill Will Have A Role In Secret Service

Mark Millar has a long honoured history of running his mouth when it comes to his film projects. We've heard more than our fair share of untrue talk about Kick-Ass 2. There is now word from Millar picked up by ComicBookResources (via CBM) that the development on The Secret Service is moving along quite nicely. Stating that Matthew Vaughn is currently writing the film's script. It was revealed a few months back that the Vaughn and writing partner Jane Goldman were working on the film. Described as Millar/Vaughn/Dave Gibbons' (Watchmen) version of S.H.I.E.L.D. or The Man From U.N.C.L.E. that follows a London hoodie that is trained to become a James Bond type of spy.

Another interesting tidbit was laid out by Millar stating that Mark Hamill will have pivotal role in the film. The iconic actor is best known for playing Luke Skywalker and as the voice of the Joker for  almost two decades. His role is unknown but he could be playing a villain or even himself. Millar also confirmed the two lead actors of the project would indeed be British. A director hasn't been named but since Vaughn has signed on for a sequel to X-Men First Class he might pass on the directing side of things.

Guy Ritchie Gives A Real RockNRolla Update

Guy Ritchie is become a staple director at Warner Bros. handling their Sherlock Holmes franchise and is in talks for their 60's era spy blockbuster The Man From UNCLE. Ritchie talked to MovieLine and revealed the status of his sequel to RockNRolla that had the working title of The Real RockNRolla. The sequel had been teased at the end of the first film and fans have actively waiting for Guy to finally get around to making it.

"You know, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about it! I’ve written a script, I think it’s a great script, and Joel [Silver] wants to pay for me to do it. But up until now we haven’t had the time to do it," Ritchie said. "It’s sitting there and we’d all like to do it, it’s just a question of when we’re going to fit it in. So we’ll wait and see."

Luckily, RockNRolla had been a Warner Bros. film with studio producer Joel Silver also involved. Silver is also working with Ritchie on his Sherlock Holmes franchise. It seems like RDJ is keen on taking a bit of break from Holmes even if the studio is currently writing a third film. So like I've said previously he could end up making two films between Sherlock Holmes 2 and 3. The only thing that could derail The Real RockNRolla is possibly The Man From UNCLE and it's sequels. Also, the cast of the original seems to be blowing up on their own. It might be hard to lock in Gerard Butler, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong and Toby Kebbell for the sequel.

Steven Soderbergh Wont Direct The Man From UNCLE

ThePlaylist reports after an exhausting casting search and budget restrictions Steven Soderbergh has called it quits on The Man From UNCLE. The budding spy franchise had been an active project for Soderbergh who was considering retiring before announcing he would direct it. It mainly came down to Warner Bros' limited budget of $60 million for a action film set in the 60's and would hop to four different continents. Think Mission Impossible or Bond meets Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy it would be expensive even before the actors were cast. Soderbergh had also been ticked off when the studio asked for younger actors giving them the suggestions of Michael Fassbender and Joel Kinnaman. Only to have them turned down then taken for other studio projects Londongrad and Arthur And Lancelot.

Warner Bros. seems to have dropped the ball since Soderbergh's Contagion ended up a solid success for them. You'd expect them to be more compromising when they're shelling out budgets twice as big for riskier projects. It's unknown if the project will keep going without Soderbergh but I'm sure he'll tackle something else soon.

CASTING DROPOUTS: Joel Edgerton And Ezra Miller

Two actors seem have to moved on from involvement with big Warner Bros. projects. Joel Edgerton has decided to pass on 300: The Battle of Atermisia and Ezra Miller denies any casting rumors of Akira. It's odd since both Hollywood Reporter and Twitch reported on Miller being reputable sources. Edgerton was also offered the second lead in The Man From UNCLE so he might looking at other projects. However, there is talk that the UNCLE script is boring and many actors have walked from it.

Channing Tatum Could Join The Man From UNCLE

It looks like casting is all over the place with for Steven Soderbergh's The Man From UNCLE. Deadline now reports that Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street, Haywire) is now in mind for the role of American spy Napoleon Solo. That role had been linked to the likes of George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Michael Fassbender, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bradley Cooper. Channing recently worked with Soderbergh on Haywire and his male stripper film Magic Mike which is currently shooting. There is no word if Joel Edgerton (Warrior) is still up for the second lead as the Russian agent.

Bradley Copper Not In Soderbergh's The Man From UNCLE

TheWrap reports that Bradley Cooper has left talks to star as Napoleon Solo in Steven Soderbergh's The Man From UNCLE. Warrior's Joel Edgerton had been offered the role of Russian Agent Illya Kuryakin. It seems like the Solo role is having a lot of trouble finding an actor to fill it. Previously actors like George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt had been mentioned as in the mix.

Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Alexander Skarsgard and Joel Kinnaman were originally mentioned before either Cooper and Edgerton got involved. Fassbender and Kinnaman have lined up other possible projects with the studio in the meanwhile. I wouldn't be shocked to see Ryan Gosling landing the role since Warner Bros. originally wanted him in the movie. Gosling had been linked for the role of but I could see him better suited for Solo. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is also gathering a massive amount of steam landing roles in The Dark Knight Rises and Django Unchained.

Joel Edgerton Offered Lead In The Man From UNCLE

Vulture reports that Joel Edgerton (Warrior, Animal Kingdom) has been offered the second lead in Steven Soderbergh's The Man From UNCLE. News of Edgerton being offered the lead in 300: The Battle of Artemisia had been revealed earlier today.

Bradley Cooper (Limitless, Hangover 1-2) had already landed the role of American spy Napoleon Solo, which had been vacated by George Clooney. Joel would play Russian spy Illya Kuryakin which had been linked to both Ryan Gosling and Joel Kinnaman. Kinnaman was recently offered an equally large role as Lancelot in the studio's Arthur & Lancelot. Oddly enough months back it was rumored that both Cooper and Edgerton were up for the lead in Ant-Man.

Bradley Cooper Front-Runner For Soderbergh's Man From UNCLE

ShowBlitz reports Bradley Cooper (Limitless, Hangover) is now Steven Soderbergh's choice to play Napoleon Solo in The Man From Uncle. It's a big change from previous wanted names for the role like George Clooney who dropped out along with hopefuls Matt Damon, Johnny Depp and Michael Fassbender. It was previously mentioned was that Warner Bros. was keen on bringing in Ryan Gosling for the role of Russian Agent Illya Kuryakin. While Soderbergh wanted up and coming Swedish actor Joel Kinnaman (Dragon Tattoo, Snabba Cash 1-3, Safe House, Killing, Darkest Hour) for the part of Illya. I think since they're hoping to go with Cooper, Gosling seems a better bet as both actors have a rather decent sized following.

Michael Fassbender & Joel Kinnaman In The Mix For The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Warner Bros' new spy project The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is expected to be the studios' answer to Paramount's Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Universal's Bourne Legacy. WB is looking to hire equally talented rising stars to fill out the cast of UNCLE. Previously names like Ryan Gosling, Alexander Skarsgard and Joesph Gordon-Levitt had been on a studio wish-list. ThePlaylist adds other names to that list which include Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pine, Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jon Hamm, Russell Crowe and Robert Pattinson. Some of these names are interesting others underwhelming and uninspiring.

The site mentions that director Steven Soderbergh has met with Swedish/American actor Joel Kinnaman for the role of Russian spy Illya Kuryakin. Joel is a exceptional new actor giving intense performances in Snabba Cash and the series The Killing. He also recently landed a role in David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and the upcoming Moscow set alien thriller The Darkest Hour. I think Joel is a great up and coming actor so it's possible he'd be willing to sign a multiple film contract. While some other actors might not want to commit to a budding franchise like UNCLE. Yet the studio is very keen on their own golden boy Ryan Gosling for Illya.

George Clooney dropped out of project which had him attached for the role of American spy Napoleon Solo. Matt Damon and Brad Pitt had been knocked around but it doesn't look it will work out. Steven has another actor in mind for Solo, that being German/Irish actor Michael Fassbender. Fassbender is gathering a lot of praise for his film's Shame and A Dangerous Method which might lead to an Oscar nomination and or win. He's also ranking up some serious badass credits with roles in Inglourious Basterds, 300, X-Men First Class, Ridley Scott's Prometheus and Soderbergh's Haywire. They also mention Joesph Gordon-Levitt is liked by the studio but might be too young. Ewan McGregor is another possibility since he worked with Steven on Haywire and was originally going to play Basher (Don Cheadle) in the Ocean films.

I'd be on board to see Fassbender and Kinnaman cast as the film's leads. I wouldn't be shocked to see other big names peppered in the other roles and it seems like Soderbergh isn't leaving the film industry anytime soon. He has mentioned previously he only had a couple more films in him before he would retire. Yet a franchise in the making like this could mean he might be invested for at least an UNCLE trilogy. The studio has been making comparisons to Lethal Weapon meaning we'll be seeing a large scale action buddy comedy. It might be wishful thinking they'd also go with an R-rating since all four of the Lethal films were.

Joesph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling & Alexander Skarsgard Wanted For The Man From UNCLE

Steven Soderbergh's big screen adaption of the 60's spy show The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is moving closer to production at Warner Bros. The only issue is that George Clooney who was attached dropped out recently and the studio is without a lead. TheWrap names actors like Joesph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, Dark Knight Rises) and Ryan Gosling (Drive, Gangster Squard, Logan's Run) being mentioned on a possible studio wishlist, along with Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood, Generation Kill). The hope is that the movie will become something similar to Lethal Weapon, becoming a solid buddy action comedy. I think both Ryan and Joesph are prime for a leap like this since both actors are solid in comedies and action focused films. Here's hoping the studio is able to wrangle their caliber to the project with Soderbergh's involvement alone.
