Variety reports Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, Hannah, Lovely Bones) and James Gandolfini (Sopranos, True Romance) have signed on to star in Violet & Daisy. The film will is written/directed by Geoffrey Fletcher who recently won an Oscar for the Precious script. The film focuses on a pair of teenage assassins who are lured into what is supposed to be just another quick and easy job, only to find complications as the man they're supposed to kill is not what they expected. The project is being pegged as a mix between Thelma And Louise, Superbad and Pulp Fiction.
Carey Mulligan (An Education, Wallstreet 2) was expected to also be in the film but left to star in Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive and Sam Mendes' On Chesil Beach.
