First Trailer For Marvel's ANT-MAN And A Bunch Of Screen Grabs

Marvel's trailer for Ant-Man is somber and taking a bit of a tone to Christopher Nolan's Batman trailers but at the same time still in on the joke. Having Paul Rudd's Scott Lang asking if he could change the name of the hero. It's a decent enough teaser considering they only recently wrapped production and the film won't be out for another seven months. We're luckily enough to see some of the ant point-of-view shots from the Comic-Con footage included.

Oddly, we don't see any footage from the 60s flashbacks which will have a young Hank working for SHIELD. Peggy Carter and Howard Stark being involved with those scenes, will further link Ant-Man and Wasp to the origins of both SHIELD and AVENGERS.

Below is a bunch of shots from the trailer as well.

Chris O'Dowd Confirms Small Role In THOR: THE DARK WORLD, Could He Be Playing Doctors Donald Blake, Stephen Strange or Hank Pym?

Irish comedic actor Chris O'Dowd has confirmed to Indiewire that he's shot a scene for Thor: The Dark World. He had been previously unannounced which will likely be the case for the majority of the smaller roles in the film. The question is, factoring in his high profile could Chris be playing an actual Marvel character in the film?

"I think I'll do more dramatic stuff and I think I have some stuff coming out that's a bit more dramatic. I don't know if I'd do an action movie because I don't know if I could keep a straight face honestly, I just think it's so silly. Like I love watching them but I can't imagine me doing one. Actually, you know what I've done, just for fun because I didn't think there was any way that I could be in a superhero movie, so I've done a scene in the new "Thor" movie, just for that. I just do like one scene, which was quite fun."

One theory is that he could be playing Jane's ex-boyfriend Dr. Donald Blake who was mentioned in the original film. Along with being at least close to Thor's height which Chris could pull-off. Blake in the comics is Thor's alter ego and fragile human form (having a mobile disability).

Another possibly could be Dr. Stephen Strange aka Doctor Strange. It's expected that Strange will be likely cast by a European actor and talk over the Summer via ThePlaylist that Strange could show up in the sequel has been mentioned by a couple different sources. Considering his high profile it wouldn't be hard to see Marvel quietly casting O'Dowd in that role or even Ant-Man's Dr. Hank Pym for that matter. Since The studio has a tendency to hire actors named Chris for their lead roles (Hemsworth, Pratt and Evans). However, it seems like Blake is the most likely role he's taken as Chris downplays ever starring in a action film.

DREAM CAST: ANTMAN

While an official announcement hasn't been made there were rumblings during Cannes recently that Ant-Man has been indeed greenlit by Marvel. There has been talk that there could be Ant-Men involved in the story giving the impression Scott Lang and Eric O'Grady will be included. Simon Pegg has mentioned that he'd rather play the villain Egghead in the film instead of Hank Pym. Bradley Cooper had been one of the few actors linked to the lead role. While it's unlikely Ultron will be the main villain of the film he could still show up as Hank's "life-model decoy" or a more industrial version. We know androids exist in the Marvel universe as Iron Man 2, Avengers and Captain America have established this.

BRADLEY COOPER AS HANK PYM/ANTMAN

ALISON BRIE AS JANET VAN DYNE/WASP

SIMON PEGG AS ELIHAS STARR/EGGHEAD

BILL NIGHY AS ULTRON

KEVIN MCKIDD AS SCOTT LANG/2ND ANTMAN

FRAN KRANZ AS ERIC O'GRADY/3RD ANTMAN

'ANT-MAN' Featured In 'AVENGERS' Button Scene And Likely The Second 2014 Marvel Film?

During the Avengers premiere last night Robert Downey Jr. revealed he was shooting a final piece of footage for Avengers, a button scene seems about right. Marvel's Kevin Feige apparently made a face when Robert revealed that news. I assume upset that he could have ended up spoiling the "big surprise". With every new Marvel film we get a button scene and those are usually kept from the press, saved for the official release. In Iron Man it was the Nick Fury introduction, Incredible Hulk a continuation of the Avengers setup, Iron Man 2 gave us Thor's hammer, leading to the Avengers teaser at the end of Captain America. So what could we be getting with The Avengers? The sequels clearly don't need any sort of promotion or teasers since they're established franchises. There has been recent speculation that Ant-Man very well could be the featured hero in the button scene this time around. This makes sense considering Dr. Pym is a founding member of the Avengers and had to sit this one out.

A recent Tweet from Edgar Wright has fueled this rumor and Marvel's Kevin Feige while mum about it gives the impression he's holding back the full story. In an in depth interview about upcoming projects Marvel's Kevin Feige spoke to Collider about the Tweet. Feige grave Frosty a bit of the run around but mentioned to keep an eye on Edgar's tweets in the coming months. Giving the impression he has done "something" for Marvel or at the very least they'll be making an announcement concerning Ant-Man. We've all been curious why Marvel hasn't greenlit films featuring new heroes rather focusing on sequels instead. Ant-Man has been on block for years now and last we heard the studio was pleased with the script from Edgar and Joe Cornish. Could Ant-Man be that mysterious second film in 2014?, it's starting to look that way. If Ant-Man or Hank Pym indeed end up in the Avengers button scene we'll have our confirmation when it hits theaters. Either way as usual stay after the credits to find out for yourselves.

Edgar Wright via Twitter from earlier this month: "Was just back behind the camera for the first time in nearly two years. Can't say on what, but it was cool..."

Feige on whether Edgar has shoot something already for Marvel: "He did not. But I saw that tweet as well and thought, “Did he do something for us? No?” No, it wasn’t for us. But pay attention to his tweets in the coming months; that answer might change."

Feige on if Marvel will ever make three films a year: "Never say never. It’s not a goal, we’re not striving to do that, but circumstances sometimes may allow that to occur. Depending on what Edgar Wright films for us [laughs]. "

Edgar Wright's Ant-Man A Team Spy Film?

We've been getting a few hints on what we can expect from Marvel Studios' Ant-Man which is being written by Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim, Hot Fuzz) and Joe Cornish (Attack The Block, Tintin). From what is known we could be seeing a group of Ant-Men in a high-tech spy heist film. This makes a lot of sense considering neither Pym or Wasp won't be showing up in Avengers.

It will include at least two of the Ant-Men including Dr. Hank Pym and burglar turned-hero Scott Lang (2nd Ant-Man) which was confirmed by MTV. Also the film's leading lady Janet van Dyne wears a similar suit and is known as the Wasp. It would be nice to see another heroine in the film perhaps Lang's daughter Cassie. She becomes a Young Avenger known as Stature who shares the same powers as her father.

ThePlaylist was able to speak with Joe Cornish which he became coy when the question of Ant-Men was raised again. However, they mention several "Ant-Men" are rumored which could mean SHIELD Agent Eric O'Grady (3rd Ant-Man) could be in the film as well.

"We had heard that at one point Cornish and Wright were going to put several of the Ant-Men (meaning people that had put on superhero scientist Hank Pym’s suit) into the script, meaning that they could have thrown in our personal favorite Ant-Man – Eric O’Grady, low-level S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent turned shadily “Irredeemable” Ant Man. "

Cornish smiled at our implication and said, slyly, “No comment.” He then started to say something, “Well, you know…” before shutting himself off with another “No comment.”

Edgar Wright talked to VanityFair about his vision for the film which will be a "high-tech spy heist film". The espionage angle gives further fuel that a team could be put together. Wright had been in contention to direct Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol which has a similar theme minus superpowers. I wouldn't be shocked to see Ant-Man closer to Bond or Mission Impossible than any of the other Marvel films.

"I think it's a really interesting high-concept idea. [...] I know there's a big stigma attached to it, mostly because every movie about shrinking has been about people in peril. I think it'd be great to do a shrinking film about a bad-ass secret agent. [...] Even something like The Incredible Shrinking Man, which is a fantastic film, is about a guy in trouble. But this is going to be nothing like that. It's essentially a high-tech spy heist film with somebody with a very particular power."
