Who Should Direct Wolverine 2?

Now that January 2011 is the confirmed date for production. The question is who should direct? Having Gavin Hood return seems like a hard sell to fans who were more than disappointed by the first film. I believe 20th Century Fox and producer Lauren Donner might look to earlier choices. Two directors that were interested in directing Origins before Hood was hired included Zack Snyder and Len Wiseman. I believe they could help both ground the character and bring an unique vision for Wolverine 2.

LEN WISEMAN

Len Wiseman has been able to develop his own successful franchise with the Underworld series directing two installments. While also pumping new blood into the Die Hard series. While some crucify him for making Live Free or Die Hard PG-13. It's rating didn't detract from the story or the entertaining action scenes. He has strong grasp of both action and genre projects. If we want a better Wolverine film with solid action and fight scenes, Wiseman is the best person for the job. The only issue would be his involvement with Underworld 4 and Gears of War.

ZACK SNYDER

Zack Snyder is my favorite choice no matter who they end up hiring. I will always think Snyder was meant for this job. His visceral style along with amazing production work recently with recreating New York City circa 1985 for Watchmen. While I do believe they will shoot "some" scenes in Japan. The country is notoriously expensive to make a film in. I would commend 20th Century Fox for putting up the money to shoot on location. Yet if they could get Snyder on board I'm sure they would be able to recreate major Japanese locations.

He's also been able to do justice to both 300 and Watchmen two comic films that would otherwise be difficult to make work in someone's hands. Zack recently moved into PG-13 territory with Legend of The Guardians. It could prove he isn't all about nudity and graphic violence. The only project that Snyder seems to be circling at the moment is Xerxes which doesn't look like it even has a script yet. My assumption is that he might end up directing Ninja Scroll but nothing shows it will happen.
