GONE GIRL Author And Screenwriter Gillian Flynn Open To Sequel

When asked about at the possibility of a Gone Girl sequel by New York Daily News (via The Playlist) author and screenwriter Gillian Flynn gave a promising answer. She stated it could happen along as long as the "gang" is brought back for it.
"There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together, it could be really fun a few years from now to pick it up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on — not well I don’t think,"

The assumption would be that Flynn ends-up writing the screenplay for the film, I'm not sure if a book would be released in tandem. Director David Fincher and the cast would need to return as well for Gillian to get onboard with a sequel.

Gone Girl became one of the most profitable R-rated films of the year, second only to Sony's 22 Jump Street. On a budget of $61M the film eventually earned $365M worldwide. The film also has the honor of being David Fincher's highest grossing film to date.

This leads me to believe that 20th Century Fox would love to get everyone back for a sequel.

There is even awards buzz surrounding the film, we should know on Thursday if the film will indeed get some Oscar nominations. The Academy has a lot of love for Fincher's films and in my mind Rosamund Pike is a strong contender for a Best Actress nomination.

Ben Affleck is becoming increasingly busy these days post-Batman but I'm sure could squeeze this in. The film has done wonders for Affleck since it's one his best performances in ages. Sorry, Argo fans, "Argo fuck yourself". I'm frankly a bit more optimistic for future Affleck films after Gone Girl and sort to see Ben push himself a bit more from now on.

Carrie Coon, who plays Affleck's twin sister in the film would also be an essential necessity for it's sequel. The rest of the cast I assume could be easily convinced to return the only one I see becoming a hold-out would be Tyler Perry, although he was fantastic in the film and worth haggling with.

David Fincher on the other hand might be harder to wrangle than the cast. As the filmmaker has never made a sequel to any of his films. I'm sure there are a couple of films he'd like to return to and others he'd like to forget he was ever involved with. Alien 3 comes to mind as one he'd like to forget.

He's also had a bit of trouble in the past getting Sony to agree to make his The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo sequels.

Scripts for both The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest have been written but signs of production moving forward are scarce. While Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are still contracted for the two films even though Sony has kept them in hiatus.

A couple of months ago, Fincher seemed a bit more optimistic about The Girl Who Played With Fire getting greenlit while speaking in Sweden via Film Divider. Giving the impression the film's script will be vastly different from it's Swedish counterpart starring Noomi Rapace.
"I think because it [Sony] already has spent millions of dollars on the rights and the script so it will result in something. The script that we now have a huge potential, I can reveal as much as it is extremely different from the book."

Oddly enough, another Gillian Flynn adaptation is coming to theatres in 2015 with Dark Places.

The thriller starring Charlize Theron focuses on family, murder and poverty. It should have some of the exact tone of Gone Girl if not darker and fans of the genre might want to keep an eye out for it.

X-Men Apocalypse casting hopefuls Chloe Mortez (Kick-Ass, Equalizer) and Tye Sheridan (Mud, Tree of Life) are also among the cast of Dark Places.

Rosamund Pike Might Join Charlie Hunnam In THE MOUNTAINS BETWEEN US

There is already strong Oscar buzz for Rosamund Pike's amazing performance in David Fincher's Gone Girl. She's already getting high profile offers as Deadline reports Pike is circling the female lead in The Mountains Between Us. The romantic survival thriller already has Charlie Hunnam set for the male lead. I'm sort of digging the premise of the film and it could be on par with The Grey if handled properly.

A harrowing tale of survival and a love story. Ashley is a writer catching a flight from Salt Lake City and heading East for her wedding. Ben is a doctor returning from a medical conference. When their flight is cancelled due to a broken de-icer, the strangers agree to charter a ride, only to see the pilot suffer a heart attack and crash into a desolate snowy mountain region. He breaks ribs and she suffers a leg fracture. Fortunately, aside from a doctor he’s an avid climber, and as he struggles to get her down from the mountain in harsh weather, she begins to realize that maybe she was headed to marry the wrong guy.

Natalie Dormer And Mackenzie Davis Would Make Excellent CAPTAIN MARVEL Candidates

A majority of the Marvel movie fan community cheered when the studio announced plans to release a Captain Marvel movie in 2018. She's one of the most recognizable female superheroes and has slowly grown a huge fan-base named The Carol Corps., whose presence is active in most genre conventions overwhelming with their impressive cosplay turnout. Kevin Feige promised an announcement concerning a writer and director, before news of who will play her but that hasn't stopped us from creating casting wish-lists.

For months we've been talking about candidates such as Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow, Looper, Five-Year Engagement), Jessica Chastain (A Violent YearThe Martian, Zero Dark Thirty, Crimson Peak, Mama, Interstellar) , Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Jack Reacher, World's End, Die Another Day), and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Riddick). Who would all make excellent additions for the running. However, I'm not entirely sure how these ladies would actually feel about the commitment needed to be apart of the Marvel universe.

The Captain Marvel contract would likely include a five-to-nine picture deal. Wouldn't be shocked to see her heavily involved with Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War Part I, Inhumans and Avengers: Infinity War Part II. Not to mention future roles in Phase Four films. This is the sort of thing has scared off some talented actors in the past. Joaquin Phoenix has passed on both Bruce Banner and Stephen Strange roles because of this aspect. Actors such as Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd and Chadwick Boseman were in positions where they could make a giant string of Marvel movies. I'm unsure if some of these ladies would be willing to give-up future projects due to these Marvel movies. This might not be a huge issue for the likes of Katee Sackhoff, for others this could dip into their prospect of working with highly acclaimed actors, writers and directors.

I've been shocked how many Captain Marvel casting lists have been including Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence. While talented, will likely have her X-Men contract re-upped very soon at 20th Century Fox. Jennifer might be slowly winding-down her Hunger Games franchise, but the X-Men franchise is growing and moving forward. The studio will need the key actors like her for their future plans to work.

Hugh Jackman has talked at length about retiring as Wolverine. A move that will likely take place after James Mangold's The Wolverine 2. I expect to see Fox double-down on contracts for Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy. Giving them incentives to stick-around for another trilogy. As X-Men Apocalypse will complete the trilogy started by Matthew Vaughn's First Class. Including Lawrence in Carol Danvers casting lists isn't just lazy it's ignorant to the power and money Fox is willing to throw around.

Yes, Hunger Games is ending but it will also see her the face of a multi-billion dollar franchise. I don't think Fox will let that go, considering they've gone out of their way to mess with the X-Men timeline. Turning her character Mystique from villain to heroine, something obviously done to keep Lawrence's Raven in a heroic light. Let's not forget that the studio has teased giving Mystique her own solo film. I don't think that's something they've put out there for shits-and-giggles. That character is most likely to get her own spin-off. Considering Sony, Marvel and Warner Bros. are moving forward with female-driven superhero films, Fox will likely follow suit as well. Fox isn't afraid to pay actors what they need to stick around, they used to give Sigourney Weaver huge amounts to make more Alien movies.

The studio also seemingly gives the cast a bit of breathing-room between installments, something RDJ,  Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans have been dreaming about for a while now.

We know that Marvel is known for demanding huge commitments of their actors, something that could hurt Jennifer's indie roots and awards-level productions. The young actress is still attaching herself to Oscar level work, even after winning for Silver Linings Playbook. Notice how her co-star Bradley Cooper was only willing to commit to voice acting for Rocket Raccoon? Yeah, Jennifer Lawrence signing-on for Captain Marvel is a huge stretch. Sticking with Fox's X-Men franchise, will keep her profile in the spotlight while allowing her the time to make the more artsy dramas we're used to her making. We've seen how Marvel can scare-off talented actors with these contracts. Joaquin Phoenix turned down both Bruce Banner and Stephen Strange roles over these demands from the studio. It's hard to believe Jennifer Lawrence is viable candidate with all this possibly putting up walls.

However, two actresses we haven't really been talking about could make a huge impact on the Marvel cinematic universe, while also being able to commit to their crazy lengthy contracts. Those names are Natalie Dormer and newcomer Mackenzie Davis. Two ladies who I haven't really seen mentioned previously to Marvel's announcement that Carol Danvers is getting her own film in July 2018.

Natalie Dormer (Rush, Counselor, Fades, Silk, Tudors, The Girl Who Invented Kissing) might have had a cameo in Captain America: The First Avenger, but that really shouldn't completely destroy her chances for a role. Previously, we've heard Idris Elba campaigning for roles like Luke Cage, Black Panther and Blade. Let's not forget that Elba also had a role in Ghost Rider: Spirt of Vengeance and Chris Evans was in Fantastic Four before he was Captain America.

Since Dormer's role as the flirty soldier, could easily be the grandmother of Carol Danvers. Marvel has never shied away from family legacy, Stark and Carter are excellent examples of this.

She's all over genre work and is making a name for herself as the best walk-on character actress. Her profile has been recently increased thanks in-part to her role in Game of Thrones and Hunger Games franchises. Natalie is and extremely hard worker and goes quickly from project to project. It's the type of work ethic that might be a perfect fit for Marvel's notorious contracts.

Canadian actress Mackenzie Davis (That Awakward Moment, What If) is quickly gathering steam as a newcomer, taking roles in the AMC series Halt And Catch Fire and Ridley Scott's The Martian. She's placing herself in an array of different genres. Something that echoes what we saw with Chris Hemsworth before he landed Thor.

It also doesn't hurt that she has worked or will work with Marvel alumni Sebastian Stan (Captain America 1-2), Lee Pace (Guardians of The Galaxy), Scoot McNairy (All Hail The King), Michael Pena (Ant-Man), Patton Oswalt (Agents of SHIELD), Shea Whigham (Agent Cater), Michael B. Jordan (Fantastic Four) and Miles Teller (Fantastic Four). The actress is a prime candidate for one of Marvel's lengthly contracts, which would likely see her committed to five-nine films.

Do you think Marvel is going to be able to wrangle a high-profile actress or will they go with someone under the radar?

Five Actresses Marvel Needs To Consider For The CAPTAIN MARVEL Role

Marvel apparently understands the fan demand to see Ms Marvel/Captain Marvel join the Marvel cinematic universe. Kevin Feige confirmed during Comic-Con that new active development is underway for both Black Panther and Captain Marvel films. Trades revealed months back that the studio was indeed developing a script for a Ms Marvel film.

We've heard plenty of names rumored and wanted to fill the role of Carol Danvers in a Captain Marvel film, or cameo in Avengers: Age of Ultron (could be cut out of the final film). They include ladies such as Emily Blunt (Looper, Edge of Tomorrow), Ruth Wilson (Lone Ranger, Luther), Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness), Jessica Chastain (Crimson Peak, Zero Dark Thirty, Mama, The Help), and Katee Sackhoff (Riddick, Battlestar Galactica). I still think they'd make excellent candidates, but I have my own list of hopefuls.

ELIZABETH BANKS: Yes, Banks had a supporting role as Betty Brant in Sam Raimi's, Spider-Man trilogy. However, she recently revealed to MTV that James Gunn, considered her for the role of Gamora in Marvel's Guardians of The Galaxy. Seemingly still game for another Marvel role in the future. Elizabeth co-starred with Chris Pratt in The Lego Movie and Ant-Man's Paul Rudd in 40 Year-Old Virgin, which could mean having these ties to their stars might help her chances.

We've seen plenty of Marvel leads having previous working relationships, before being cast. The combos include Samuel L. Jackson/Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr./Mark Ruffalo, Johansson/Chris Evans, Chris Evans/Idris Elba and Jeremy Renner/Anthony Mackie/Evangeline Lily. Banks hasn't exactly appeared on most of these casting lists, but with her huge success with the Hunger Games franchise, her awareness level worldwide is extremely high.

IMOGEN POOTS: Imogen is actually an excellent suggestion, originally mentioned by Devin of BadassDigest. I think she's a perfect candidate because she's versatile and has the personality to push any role forward, possibly a franchise as well.

Poots has an amazing amount of connections to other actors with existing Marvel roles. Her action credits include Neil Marshall's Centurion (Marshall put his name out to direct a Black Widow film) alongside Michael "Magneto" Fassbender, the superior horror sequel 28 Weeks Later with a supporting roles from Idris "Hemidall" Elba and Jeremy "Hawkeye" Renner. the dumb-but-fun racing flick Need For Speed that featured Dominic "Howard Stark" Cooper as the villain, and the serviceable remake of Fright Night.

Her more comedic roles come from projects like the fabulous black-comedy Filth co-starring with James "Professor X" McAvoy and Jamie "The Thing" Bell, along with the average rom-com That Awkward Moment with Michael B. "Human Torch" Jordan and Miles "Mr. Fantastic" Teller. Given that a majority of her co-stars have been or became Marvel heroes/villains, I'm actually shocked she hasn't landed a role. Even though she was in the mix to play Agent 13 in Winter Soldier, I think she deserves a shot at a larger hero.

ALISON BRIE: Maybe we should go the Chris Pratt route? Hiring an actress best known for her comedic performances. Community's Allison Brie is easily the female version of Pratt, funny considered they played a married couple in Five-Year Engagement (along with doing voice work on The Lego Movie with Pratt). She's also worked with Captain America franchise directors the Russo Brothers on Community. It might have led to her being rumored for the role of SHIELD agent Sharon Carter in Winter Soldier, which she didn't end-up landing.

I've been rooting for Alison to land a Marvel role like Wasp or even Betty Ross, but she's got enough personality to take-on a larger role within the MCU. Leading a film like Captain Marvel feels something like Marvel would do, she's beyond likeable and has played around with action scenes in Community.

TESSA THOMPSON: Carol Danvers doesn't need to look exactly like she does in the comics. We've seen Marvel make modern casting choices, first with Samuel L. Jackson taking-on the Ultimates version of Nick Fury. A bold decision that has panned-out for the studio and Jackson's Fury has become a staple human character within the cinematic universe. Then again, when it was time to cast Heimdall (The Guardian of Asgard). We got one of the better additions to the Thor franchise, with British actor Idris Elba. The studio caught a bit of anger (but mostly from racist or ignorant people) from a small group of upset fanboys.

Currently, we don't have a single female character of color in the main MCU (sorry folks, Zoe Saldana is playing an alien). I'm not saying Ms Marvel/Captain Marvel needs to be Monica Rambeau, but it would be a nice hint to the character. I'm not even saying Monica is out of the question in the future, I just think this isn't a terrible idea. I've already placed my two-cents on casting Almost Human's Michael Ealy for Richard Rider in the possible Nova spin-off. My original tweet seemed to have caught his interest, as he retweeted the idea to his followers. Keeping an open-mind towards future casting is a must, considering Marvel has gotten a lot flack for their films only being lead by white males. It's the reason why Black Panther and Captain Marvel movies are such hot-topic among the fan community.

Dear White People's breakout star Tessa Thompson (Cooper) is already gathering serious buzz, from the film's debut at this year's Sundance Film Festival. In the film, Tessa balances both serious topics laced with extreme humor, and satire. She fits the Marvel mold, of an comedic actor with strong potential. Like Brie, her whit seems like a solid fit for the MCU, and not to mention for potential heated exchanges between Stark or Rogers. Either arguing or kicking their asses, via Civil War.

TAYLOR SCHILLING: Television is an extremely powerful vehicle for actors these days. Even more so for non-network shows that draw-in a mature audience. We've seen plenty of actors plucked from the small screen to lead huge movies before, including Bryan Cranston. Son of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam took on Pacific Rim, and might lead other franchises (Knights of The Roundtable: King Arthur and Escape From New York are rumored projects).

Orange Is The New Black is undoubtably a massively popular series, that is watched by many of the demographic that Marvel wants to target in the future. Basically, women over the age of 18. Taylor Schilling is a name we don't often hear when speaking of franchise players, but I think that's kind of the point. She could be very appealing, because she isn't a name I've ever heard mentioned for superhero roles.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Antje Traue (Man of Steel, Seventh Son, Pandorum), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim, The Thing, Live Free or Die Hard, Smashed, Spectacular Now), Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day, The World's End, Gone Girl, Jack Reacher, An Education), Andrea Riseborough (Welcome To The Punch, Oblivion, Shadow Dancer), and Sarah Gadon (Dracula Untold, Cosmopolis, Amazing Spider-Man 2).

First Trailer For David Fincher's GONE GIRL

The time is here, we finally have our first glimpse of David Fincher's feature adaptation of Gillian Flynn's novel Gone Girl. Flynn also wrote the script and changed the entire third-act, just for the sake of the movie. Ben Affleck stars as the husband of a missing woman played by Rosamund Pike. After certain things are revealed, Affleck's character becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance. The film will be released on October 3rd, and will likely get some awards attention.

Trent Reznor And Atticus Ross Providing Score For David Fincher's GONE GIRL

Trent Reznor has confirmed via Twitter, that he and Atticus Ross will have scoring duties on David Fincher's Gone Girl. The pair have previously composed haunting modern scores for Fincher's The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Their first outing earned them Oscars for Best Original Score, which should help establish the tone of the crime thriller. It will be interesting to see if the duo will also provide tracks that could be used for trailers and promotional materials, as they had added a few cover songs to the Dragon Tattoo soundtrack.

David Fincher's GONE GIRL Graces EW Cover And First Official Image Released

Sony is still waiting on David Fincher to make time to direct The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo sequels The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest, as scripts are still being worked out by screenwriter Steve Zillian. Director David Fincher has kept busy producing and directing the pilot episode of the Netflix series House of Cards, and recently directed a feature based on the novel Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

Gone Girl stars Ben Affleck (Batman Vs Superman, The Town, Argo) and Rosamund Pike (The World's End, An Education) grace a spoiler cover on EW, shot by Fincher. Along with a previously released official still from the film, I'm sure a trailer and poster will be on their way shortly. The crime thriller focuses on a woman (Pike) who goes missing after her wedding anniversary, and her husband (Affleck) becomes a suspect in her disappearance. This cover photo reminds me of the EW one for Dragon Tattoo, it also gives the impression that Pike's character isn't found alive. 20th Century Fox has set the release date for October 3rd, 2014.

There's no word if Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will be re-teaming to score the film, but there are expectations it will happen. As the composing pair previously worked with Fincher on The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, earning them an Oscar win for Best Original Score (for The Social Network).

Four Actresses Viving For Role In BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, Will The Studio Consider Ladies Previously Looked At For DC Films?

LatinoReview is hot on the trail of new casting scoop concerning Batman Vs Superman. This new role being a female lead. One which the site originally claimed was a love interest for Bruce Wayne. However, other outlets like BleedingCool say the role is Wonder Woman. While LR states that Wonder Woman is out of the picture with this film. Which could end up being more in the realm of Vicki Vale and other love interests. A new bit of information is sprouting which sees four actresses currently in the running. Usually it's down to two front-runners for roles like these. No names are currently being mentioned but I have some possible ideas of who could be in the mix.

Amy Adams originally read with Christian Bale for Rachel Dawes when Nolan was casting Batman Begins. Adams didn't land that part but would eventually take the Lois Lane role in Man of Steal. It's possible we could see women linked with Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel casting in a similar position. Getting a second look for this lead role in Batman Vs Superman.

GEMMA ARTERTON: Gemma recently co-starred with Ben Affleck in Runner Runner along with being a candidate to play Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. She's proven with roles in films such as Byzantium and Alice Creed that's Gemma is more than capable to handle action role and could even make a solid villain. Arterton had also been among a shortlist of actresses considered for Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus.

MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD: Having tested for the role of Lois Lane, MEW has been pursuing a role like this for a while. She had been linked for the Maria Hill role in Avengers and Agent Sharon Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. There has also been rumblings that because of her connections with director Edgar Wright working on Scott Pilgrim, she might also be a strong contender for The Wasp in Ant-Man.

JESSICA BIEL: Biel has been linked for the roles of both Selina Kyle and Lois Lane, along with The Wolverine's Viper. All roles that would eventually go to different actresses. She's taken on physical roles in films such as Blade Trinity and Total Recall. While those films were flops her action scenes were on the money.

ROSAMUND PIKE: Rosamund Pike had been in the running for villainous roles such as Faora in Man of Steel and Emma Frost in X-Men First Class. She's also taken action roles in films such as Die Another Day, Jack Reacher, Wrath of The Titans and The World's End. Not to mention recently co-starring with Ben Affleck in David Fincher's Gone Girl.

DIANE KRUGER: The German actress is best known for her roles in Troy and Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. However, Diane had been in the running for Carol Ferris in Green Lantern and was considered for the role of Faora in Man of Steel. Her husband Joshua Jackson was actually in the running for Bruce Wayne at one point before Bale landed it. While Joshua's Dawson's Creek co-star Katie Holmes ended up playing Rachel Dawes.

CHARLOTTE RILEY: Like Biel, Charlotte has been one of the few actresses that has tested for both Selina Kyle and Lois Lane. She's kept under the radar with smaller roles and could be an actress like Antje Traue who stole a few scenes in Man of Steel.

Actors Confirmed For Wrath of The Titans

ComingSoon received the Wrath of The Titans press release which again confirms returning cast members Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes and Queen Andromeda now played by Rosamund Pike. Not previously mentioned is Danny Huston who is reprising the role of Poseidon. Along with new additions Edgar Ramirez as Ares, Tobey Kebbell as Argenor and Bill Nighy as Hephaestus the blacksmith to the gods. Oddly enough Gemma Arterton who ended up the love interest in the first film doesn't appear as in the cast. Her role could possibly be cut or even in the process of being re-cast.

Rosamund Pike To Play Andromeda In Wrath of The Titans

Deadline reports that Rosamund Pike (An Education, Die Another Day) has been recast as Princess Andromeda in Jonathan Liebesman's (Battle Los Angeles) Wrath of The Titans. Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Liam Nesson and Ralph Fiennes are reprising their roles. Pike had recently been linked to both X-Men First Class and Superman.

TheWrap previously reported that Hayley Atwell (Captain America), Clemence Poesy (In Bruges, 127 Hours), Dominique McElligott (Moon) and Georgina Haig (Wasted On The Youth) had been candidates to replace Alexa Davalos. The same report linked Edgar Rameriz (Carlos) as being in final talks to take the role of Ares, Tobey Kebbell (RockNRolla) for the role of Agenor and Bill Nighy as Hephaestus the blacksmith to the gods.
