Rosamund Pike Might Join Charlie Hunnam In THE MOUNTAINS BETWEEN US

There is already strong Oscar buzz for Rosamund Pike's amazing performance in David Fincher's Gone Girl. She's already getting high profile offers as Deadline reports Pike is circling the female lead in The Mountains Between Us. The romantic survival thriller already has Charlie Hunnam set for the male lead. I'm sort of digging the premise of the film and it could be on par with The Grey if handled properly.

A harrowing tale of survival and a love story. Ashley is a writer catching a flight from Salt Lake City and heading East for her wedding. Ben is a doctor returning from a medical conference. When their flight is cancelled due to a broken de-icer, the strangers agree to charter a ride, only to see the pilot suffer a heart attack and crash into a desolate snowy mountain region. He breaks ribs and she suffers a leg fracture. Fortunately, aside from a doctor he’s an avid climber, and as he struggles to get her down from the mountain in harsh weather, she begins to realize that maybe she was headed to marry the wrong guy.

Charlie Hunnam & Margot Robbie Considering Romantic Thriller THE MOUNTAINS BETWEEN US?

Where is all this love for British actor Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy, Green Street Hooligans, Pacific Rim, Crimson Peak) coming from? Deadline reports that the actor along with Australian actress Margot Robbie (Tarzan, Wolf of Wall Street) are in early talks to take lead roles in The Mountains Between Us. The film based on the novel by Charles Martin sounds actually compelling as a romantic thriller. It's director Hany Abu-Assad is best known for his film Paradise Now. Hunnam has been linked as the front-runner for the role of Arthur in Guy Ritchie's Knights of The Roundtable: King Arthur. He's also rumored as the top-pick to lead the Escape From New York reboot as the hard-nosed anti-hero Snake Plissken.

Margot Robbie is currently shooting Tarzan for Warner Bros., and it was revealed yesterday she's also in talks for the lead role in Rupert Sanders' Ghost In The Shell. Robbie is becoming a very busy lady, and it's unknown if she'll end-up taking either roles.

Michael Fassbender Could Lead The Mountains Between Us

ShowBlitz reports that Michael Fassbender (Shame, Prometheus) is in talks to star in the romantic thriller The Mountains Between Us. The story follows two strangers who survive a plane crash in the Colorado woods and are forced to rely on one another for survival, eventually falling in love. Michael would play Ben Trace, a doctor and avid climber who uses his skills to transport an injured writer named Ashley down a mountain in harsh weather. It's yet another interesting project for Fassbender who also has The Counselor and 12 Years A Slave shooting this spring/summer. He was also attached to Londongrad at one point but it's unknown if that is still happening.
