Viola Davis Will Play Amanda Waller In David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD

LatinoReview is now reporting that Oscar winner Viola Davis is a lock for the role of Amanda Waller in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. Davis was previously named alongside Oprah Winfery and Octavia Spencer as potential candidates for the role. Waller is a DC villain and government official who is the handler of the convict program The Suicide Squad. She'll be starring alongside Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne.

Viola was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars for both for The Help and Doubt. Her other credits include films such as Prisoners, Solaris, Ender's Game, Law Abiding Citizen, Knight And Day and State of Play. Her next film will be the Michael Mann (Heat) cyber crime thriller Blackhat starring Chris Hemsworth. She's made a career playing these types of roles, so her casting makes all the sense in the world.

Universal Rebooting THE WOLFMAN A Second Time With PRISONERS Writer

Deadline has confirmation from Universal that Prisoners writer Aaron Guzikowski  will pen a new Wolfman film for the studio. The film will be apart of the new Universal Monsters Universe, which began with Dracula Untold. Alex Kurtzman's The Mummy will be the first official release set in the modern universe they will inhabit. It's expected the film will be set in modern times rather than the Victorian era setting the 2010 film from director Joe Johnston had. It's possible Wolfman could take the release spot in 2017, which was slated for an untitled Universal Monsters film.

While the last film had some issues, the Rick Baker makeup and transformation wasn't one of them. There is a bit of expectation that the Baker makeup will return and we won't get some dude turning into a wolf, but rather keeping the iconic wolfman look. Baker would go-on to earn the makeup Oscar in 2011.

Hugh Jackman And Dev Patel Join Neill Blomkamp's CHAPPIE Which Stars Die Antwoord And Shartlo Copley

ScreenDaily has word from Hugh Jackman that the actor has a role in Neill Blomkamp's sci-fi comedy Chappie. The film set in South Africa focuses on android police officer (voiced by Sharlto Copley) stolen by gangsters (Die Antwoord) for their own means. Deadline adds that Jackman will play a rival of Dev Patel's (Newsroom, Slumdog Millionaire) character. Chappie is a feature vision of Blomkamp's short film Tetra Vaal.

“I am doing a role in Neill’s new film, called Chappie, which we shoot in Johannesburg. I’m there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year.”

Paul Dano Joins PRISONERS

Variety reports that Paul Dano (Looper, There Will Be Blood) has joined Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman and Melissa Leo in the thriller Prisoners. The film is said to be in the vain of Se7en and Silence of The Lambs.
