New CHAPPIE Trailer Beefs-Up Hugh Jackman's Role As Villain And Sigourney Weaver Finally Appears

A second trailer for Neill Blomkamp's South African robot action flick Chappie has been released by Sony. It shows a lot more action set pieces than the previous trailer along with beefing-up Hugh Jackman's role as the film's villain. Having him controlling his own weaponized robot which looked a but similar to ED-209 from Robocop. While we did hear a voice over from Sigourney Weaver in the first trailer this our first glimpse of the actress in the film.

I'm still beyond curious to see if rappers Die Antwoord have any scenes with Jackman, because it would be hilarious.

Hugh Jackman And Dev Patel Join Neill Blomkamp's CHAPPIE Which Stars Die Antwoord And Shartlo Copley

ScreenDaily has word from Hugh Jackman that the actor has a role in Neill Blomkamp's sci-fi comedy Chappie. The film set in South Africa focuses on android police officer (voiced by Sharlto Copley) stolen by gangsters (Die Antwoord) for their own means. Deadline adds that Jackman will play a rival of Dev Patel's (Newsroom, Slumdog Millionaire) character. Chappie is a feature vision of Blomkamp's short film Tetra Vaal.

“I am doing a role in Neill’s new film, called Chappie, which we shoot in Johannesburg. I’m there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year.”
