'RIDDICK 3' Coming January 2013, Sequels "UNDERVERSE' And 'FURYA' On The Way?
Vin Diesel has seemingly confirmed on Facebook that Riddick 3: Dead Man Stalking is heading to theaters sometime in January 2013. He also states being slightly disappointed Universal decided against releasing the film in the bloated 2012 lineup. He also states the studio seems to be happy with how the film is coming together and are interested sequels. Vin reveals the titles to these possible sequels which are Underverse and Furya. Underverse refers to the original planned sequel to Chronicles that pits Riddick in an cosmic version of the underworld and Furya is his home world.
"I think they are liking what they are seeing…cause they asked when both Underverse and Furya would be ready to make and release…now that’s a ways in the future but it is exciting.”

Riddick's Full Cast Announced
Collider has posted a press release from the production which includes confirmation that Karl Urban is indeed returning. It had been thought with Star Trek 2 going into production at the same time he might not be able to do both films. The press release also reveals the rest of the cast.
Riddick also sees the return of Karl Urban (Star Trek, The Bourne Supremacy) as Vaako and introduces to the series Jordi Molla (Bad Boys II, Colombiana) as Santana, the arrogant captain of the mercenary ship; Matt Nable (Killer Elite) as Boss Johns, a man looking for answers; Katee Sackhoff (TV’s Battlestar Galactica) as the Nordic mercenary Dahl; and Bokeem Woodbine (upcoming Total Recall) as bounty hunter Moss. Rounding out the cast are Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption), Conrad Pla (Immortals), Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto), Nolan Funk (TV’s Aliens in America) and two-time Grammy Award-nominated singer Keri Hilson.

Nolan Funk Joins Riddick 3, Plus Set Image
Variety reports that Broadway actor Nolan Funk has officially signed on for Riddick 3: Dead Man Stalking. I assume that Funk will be playing one of the mercenaries alongside Katee Sackhoff lead by Jordi Molla. Vin Diesel also released the first image from the set via his Facebook page.

Jordi Molla Up For Villain Role In Riddick 3
Variety reports that Spanish actor Jordi Molla (Bad Boys 2, Blow, Knight And Day) is in talks to take a role in Riddick 3. Molla is up for the part of Santana, the leader of an eight-man mercenary team tasked to find and kill Riddick. Jordi was recently linked to testing for a villain role in Star Trek 2 before Benedict Cumberbatch was cast. Katee Sackhoff's mercenary Dahl is likely apart of that team as well. While Vin Diesel is a lock, Karl Urban on the other hand might not since Star Trek 2 shoots soon.

Katee Sackhoff Confirmed For Riddick 3
Deadline confirms that Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) will indeed play the female mercenary Dahl in Riddick 3. Dahl is likely the merc leading a team to recapture Riddick who has a hefty price on his head. It had been rumored for months that Katee was up for the role and now she's in final talks to take it. Production is currently underway in Montreal with Vin Diesel reprising the role of Riddick. Karl Urban (Star Trek 1-2, Dredd, Red) is also returning for the third installment.

Katee Sackhoff Offered Role In Riddick 3?
BloodyDisgusting is reporting that casting is underway for Riddick 3: Dead Man Stalking and that a few offers have gone out. Offers were given to Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall, The Big Hit) and a couple of unknowns. Sackhoff would play the role of Dahl a Nordic merc tracking Riddick. Vin Diesel and Karl Urban are currently the only confirmed cast members of the third installment. Writer/director David Twohy and Diesel have been promising a gritty scaled down sequel that will end up with a hard R-rating. I enjoyed the world of criminals, off-world prisons, colonies and mercenaries setup in the first film. Hopefully the team ends up giving us a better effort than the last film.

Karl Urban Returning For Riddick 3?
BloodyDisgusting reports that Karl Urban (Judge Dredd, Star Trek, Two Towers) is reprising his role of Vaako in The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking. Urban is the only the second actor cast in the film and it's unknown how large the part will be. Another one of the Karl's projects Star Trek 2 is about to start production so I'm not sure how much of the actor we'll be seeing.

Vin Diesel Says Riddick 3 Shooting This Summer & Will Be Rated R
One of the lesser explored science fiction mythologies has to be the world of Riddick. We had such an amazing introduction to slams and mercs in Pitch Black. Yet things got out of hand when the studio lavished the PG-13 sequel with a massive budget and a story too big in scale for it's own good. It really became a film about the villains more than it did about Riddick. What was also taken away was the gritty violent world he inhabits. Riddick 3 is said to bring the franchise back to it roots with a single planet setting filled with deadly alien creatures and a squad of talented mercs.
Now there is word from Vin Diesel himself (via CinemaBlend) that he's worked things out with writer/director David Twohy on the third film. It's expected it will shoot this summer and he's taken a big paycut to make sure the film will be R. Considering the monstrous success of Fast Five Diesel seems to be back as a Hollywood asset. There is even early talk of him starring in Terminator 5. So for Vin to take on a passion project like Riddick 3, you have to commend him for his loyalty to the character. Plus there really could be a great film somewhere in that universe. I have to assume that they will end up aiming for a late summer or early fall release in 2012.
