Marvel Confirms Mike Colter For LUKE CAGE Role

Marvel has confirmed that Mike Colter (The Following, Halo Nightfall) is our Luke Cage. The hero for hire will have a large role in the Jessica Jones series first, before getting his own 13-episode run. I'm curious if Colter will have a part within Iron Fist as well.

Krysten Ritter And Mike Colter Are Likely Marvel's JESSICA JONES/LUKE CAGE

Deadline is reporting that Krysten Ritter is a lock for the lead role of Jessica Jones in Netflix's second Marvel series. She apparently beat-out Aussie actress Teresa Palmer for the role. They also mention that their reads were with Luke Cage candidate Mike Colter (Halo Nightfall, Following), to feel-out chemistry. This could mean that Colter will be our Cage in the series. Since Luke is said to appear in multiple episodes of Jones, before his own solo series.

I'm a bit unimpressed with the body of work from Ritter, but will try to keep an open mind. Marvel has made some questionable casting moves in the past, which over time have won me over. From what I've seen with movie roles and small part on Breaking Bad, I'm not keen to see her in the role.

Mike Colter on the other hand has been hidden under the radar most of his career. He's got the dramatic and action chops to get to the core of Cage, and will obviously play a huge role within these shows. To say that Colter looks the part is a major understatement. I'm beyond stoked on Mike taking the role of Luke Cage and feel he'll end-up stealing scenes in the next four shows. As he's expected to also play a part in Iron Fist, before his own 13-episode run and then the Defenders series.

Tom Cruise Courted For Ramirez Role In HIGHLANDER Reboot

TheWrap reports that Summit is looking to cast Tom Cruise in the Ramirez role in their Highlander reboot. The Japanese sword wielding Spanish immortal mentor of protagonist MacLoead, who was bizarrely played by Scottish actor Sean Connery. They are quick to point-out this is Summit reaching out to Cruise, and talks haven't started.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan will be make his feature debut with the film, with Neal H. Mortiz and former director Justin Lin acting as producers. Ryan Reynolds was attached for the longest time for the lead role, but Jeff suggests Dan Stevens (The Guest) for the part instead, I can't help but agree with him.

TRUE DETECTIVE's Alexandra Daddario And Others Testing For Marvel's JESSICA JONES

Marvel's Daredevil is almost completed it's 13 episode shoot, which will see the entire run drop on Netflix in May 2015. The next series is Jessica Jones and Marvel is already testing actresses for the role. According to Deadline ladies such as Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad), Alexandra Daddario (White Collar, True Detective, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Percy Jackson, San Andreas), Teresa Palmer and Jessica De Gouw.

Out of the bunch I'd love to see Alexandra Daddario in the role, since she has balanced both film and television work. Making her and Charlie Cox excellent candidates to crossover to the films in the future. The series is being written and spearheaded by Dexter's Melissa Rosenberg. The hope is that Jones will also be a bit more darker than the other Marvel content, similar to Daredevil's "PG-16" tone.

Jessica Jones, a superhero suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes.
