Seth Gordon And Jason Segel Teaming On Comedy Based On Real-Life Maple Syrup Heist, Please Sony Call This STICKY FINGERS
Deadline reports yet another comedy project being setup at Sony. They reveal that the studio is putting together a heist comedy based on the real-life maple syrup theft in Quebec. Which saw a group stealing 20 million dollars worth of maple syrup. The comedy has Horrible Bosses and Identity Theft director Seth Gordon set to direct with Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Five-Year Engagement) attached to star. Family Guy writer Chris Sheridan is currently putting the script together. Segel is currently shooting Sex Tape which is another comedy from Sony.

Ellie Kemper Joins Jason Segel And Cameron Diaz In SEX TAPE
When it was announcement that Jason Segel would star in the comedy Sex Tape. A raunchy comedy that focuses on a married couple that makes a sex tape and eventually have it leak everywhere. I added a casting suggestion that would pair Jason with the feisty Ellie Kemper (hot off her supporting roles in 21 Jump Street and Bridesmaids) as the film's female lead. That wasn't to be, as Cameron Diaz joined her Bad Teacher co-star in that role instead. However, TheWrap reports that Ellie Kemper has indeed joined the cast in a supporting role, which I consider a win in my favor. The rest of the cast includes Rob Corddry, Rob Lowe and Jack Black.

Emma Watson, Jason Segel And David Krumholtz Join 'END OF THE WORLD', Michael Cera And Rhianna Also Might Be Cast
A slew of additions for Seth Rogen's directorial debut End of The World (formerly The Apocalypse) have been revealed today. HeatVision reports that Emma Watson (Harry Potter Series), Jason Segel and David Krumholtz (Addam's Family Values, Serenity, Walk Hard) will appear in the horror comedy playing themselves, not characters. ShowBlitz says that Rhianna (Battleship) and Michael Cera (Superbad, Scott Pilgrim) are also likely to join as well it's unknown if they'll be playing themselves or not. Rogen and Goldberg had teased that celebrities would be cameoing in the film that is set in Los Angeles after a apocalyptic event. It's unknown at this point which will play survivors and which ones will play corpses. I'm hoping that mutants ala Omega Man or zombies will be involved. The sheer amount of comedians is impressive as the cast includes Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Aziz Ansari, Craig Robinson and James Franco.

Sex Tape Might Get A Director, Ellie Kemper Needs To Co-Star
Variety reports that Jake Kasdan best known for directing Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and Bad Teacher in talks to helm Sex Tape for Sony. The comedy from screenwriter Kate Angelo focuses on a married couple who decide to spice things up by making their own sex tape. They wake the next morning only to find it's missing and scramble around the city trying to find it before it ends up online or in the hands of someone they know.
Currently Jason Segel is the only actor attached to the film. However, I'm putting it out to Sony that they need to cast Ellie Kemper in the second lead. Kemper is best known for scene stealing supporting roles in The Office, Bridesmaids and the recent hit 21 Jump Street. It would be in the studio's best interest to develop Ellie into a comedic leading lady and give her a shot at the role. The only problem is that Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Rose Byrne, Reese Witherspoon, and Jennifer Garner are in the mix. My hope is that with Kasdan's love for casting Office regulars he might want Ellie to test with Jason.

Actresses In The Running To Star Alongside Jason Segel In Sex Tape
Deadline reports that Sony Pictures is trying to put together a comedy project for director Nicholas Stroller with Jason Segel in mind to star. Stroller has been gathering quite a bit of success with Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him To The Greek and the upcoming The Five-Year Engagement. The project titled Sex Tape based on the script by Kate Angelo sounds like a raunchy version of Date Night were a couple looses their sex tape and tries to case it down. Reese Witherspoon was also mentioned as a potential actress for the lead. Variety adds names like Amy Adams (Enchanted, Leap Year, Talladega Nights), Emily Blunt (Devil Wears Prada, Wild Target), Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids, X-Men First Class) and Jennifer Garner (Aurthur, Juno).
Reese doesn't seems like a great fit but did give a decent performance in Legally Blonde and could be okay in This Means War. Emily Blunt has worked with Jason on three previous films playing his love interest in Stroller's Five-Year Engagement and Gulliver's Travels. Amy stars alongside Jason in The Muppets as the love interest, so she seems like a solid candidate too. Rose worked with Stroller on Get Him To The Greek and while she was terrible in Bridesmaids is likely getting credit for it's success. I can't say I'd want to see Garner in the lead since I feel she has the personality of a wet paper bag in her movies.

Alison Brie Joins Segel & Blunt In Five-Year Engagement
Variety reports that Alison Brie (Community, Mad Men) has joined Nicholas Stroller's (Get Him To The Greek, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) Five-Year Engagement. Alison will play Emily Blunt's younger sister in the film and will adopt a British accent. Jason Segel who stars wrote the film with Stroller. Segel also wrote Forgetting Sarah Marshall so hopefully this going to be a solid romantic comedy.

Emily Blunt Joining Jason Segel In Five-Year Engagement?
Vulture reports Emily Blunt has been offered the female lead in Five-Year Engagement opposite Jason Segel. The project once rumored to be Judd Apatow's (now just producing) next film will see director Nicholas Stoller (Get Him To The Greek) re-teaming with Jason Segel. The pair worked together on Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the new Muppet film.
