Live-Action GHOST IN THE SHELL Movie Lands Spring 2017 Release Date

Disney has lined-up a bunch of new release dates which includes their adaptation of the manga turned anime film/series Ghost In The Shell. The film directed by Snow White And The Huntsman's Rupert Sanders is now set for an April 14th, 2017.

It will be coming out a week after Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim 2.

The manga, anime and series focuses on a covert Japanese police force Section 9, who is mostly made-up of cyborg cops that tackle cyber crime and terrorists in the year 2029.

We actually haven't learned what Disney's plans for their film version of the movie. It's extremely possible that the film could indeed still be set in Japan and take many cues from it's source material.

Scarlett Johansson (Her, Lost In Translation, Under The Skin) has been previously been cast as the film's lead as The Major. This is after a reported $10M offer from the studio to take the role after they passed on Margot Robbie (Wolf of Wall Street, Tarzan, Suicide Squad).

Other sources claim the studio were also looking at Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lawrence for the role.

This is seemingly a role in Scarlett's wheelhouse with action roles in films such as Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Solider, The Island and last summer's huge success story with Luc Besson's Lucy.

A French film set in Taiwan and France with a mostly foreign supporting cast with a budget of $40M but earning $459M worldwide at the box office.

The film went head-to-head with Dwayne Johnson's Hercules it's opening weekend in the U.S. and managed to squash it. Proving Scarlett is ready to evolve to action heroine, even if Marvel isn't about to give her a Black Widow film.

Her addition to the cast is considered somewhat to controversial to some. Yet, it's unknown what direction the film is going and that is highlighted by the studio not releasing an official synopsis for the film. People are being quick-on-the-draw to claim whitewashing but that's far from the case so far.

Let's be a bit more open-minded.

I personally don't see it that way considering The Major's body is a robotic shell and ethnicity doesn't really come into play here. It's possible the manufacturing company could dictate what her robotic "shell" will look like.

Who is to say the company making the bodies isn't from the west or that in fact The Major is from Japan but has a western background?

It's possible that Scarlett's version of The Major was born or raised in Japan. There is a growing group of western immigrants flooding into Japan. An influx of foreigners do live in Japan a lot of people are ignoring this fact. The increase is due to the alarming birth rate decline as the country has one of the lowest in the world. An aspect that isn't really reflected in the Japanese film industry.

There could be a point where the Japanese will be minority in their own country if they can't get their birth rates up.

Having some non-Japanese on a police force is going to be common place in the future, which is the film's setting since it's 14 years in the future.

I'd also like to point-out that Major's shell does have blue eyes in the original anime film.

I am against Americanizing the film entirely but also open to some slight changes that are likely going to happen when Disney and Hollywood get's involved.

We didn't lose our minds when Edge of Tomorrow changed Tom Cruise's character from Japanese to American or Emily Blunt's Rita from American to British from the original book All You Need Is Kill. That film ended-up becoming a badass adaptation.

Ghost In The Shell is a completely different property than Akira, which is hugely a Japanese story and even has a Japanese title. Shell is slightly different identity and allows for a bit more wiggle-room for a cinematic re-imagining than Akira does.

A science fiction story that mimics fears of too much military power, war mongering and looming nuclear threats to a civilian population. Warner Bros. handling of the film was serious whitewash treatment on all fronts.

The studio searched for actors and actresses about twenty of them for the major roles in the film. Looking at only white actors for roles, not just for one role but all of them.

The location was being moved from Neo Tokyo to Manhattan. Seemingly muting the nuclear holocaust themes that were linked to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. An extremely Japanese aspect essential to the film's story, psyche and identity.

They were even changing a majority of the Japanese names to give them a western spin. Something we don't expect will be the case with the characters in Shell.

I'm also in the belief that since they are hunting international cyber and artificial intelligence terrorists in a global community. We should be seeing an international task-force to combat it but based out of Japan.

Having Scarlett surrounded by a large and talented Japanese cast similar to films like Black Rain and The Wolverine is also very likely. I still believe we're going to be getting a Japanese centric film but it being lead by Scarlett Johansson

I'm not entirely convinced Rupert Sanders is the best director for the job but he did an excellent job on the live-action ads for Halo 3: ODST. Gathering more emotion than the entire runtime of Huntsman. There is some expectation he could bring that edge to Shell.

We'll being seeing a huge push by the creators to get the word out about the property. As a new untitled anime film is on it's way this summer from the creative team behind the prequel Ghost In The Shell: Arise. I assume the film will eventually make it's way to Netflix like Arise.

They've also developed a first-person shooter game Ghost In The Shell First Connection that looks beyond cool with may land Stateside at some point before the live-action film. I'm hoping the film mixes the design artwork from the original manga/film with this new game.

Teaser For New GHOST IN THE SHELL Anime Film Coming In 2015 With A Score By Cornelius

CrunchyRoll has word from the official Ghost In The Shell website that a third untitled anime film will be coming out around summer 2015. I have no idea when it will or if it will be released in North America but it would be a good idea to at least have a limited release. I'm stoked to see what direction they'll be going here, since it's apparently linked to the four-part Ghost In The Shell Arise prequel series with the same writer and director.

Japanese pop artist Cornelius is scoring the film which is beyond cool. I was a big fan of his music in the early 2000s but haven't listened much in a long time. He helped a bit with the music for Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim, so he's not a stranger to film. It's possible the music in it's short teaser is from him. Cornelius also scored the series Arise which is currently on Netflix.

It's excellent timing but we really need to see this film getting promoted in the U.S.. Mainly, because Dreamworks' needs to get the word out the mainstream about this property since they are aiming to release a live-action film. Having director Rupert Sanders and starring Scarlett Johansson it's release could come sometime in either 2016 or 2017. A first person shooter game is also in the works, and will hopefully be released worldwide before the live-action film's release.

I loved the original film and liked the first viewing of the second film Innocence, enjoying only a few scenes in the sequel with return viewings. I couldn't get into the series because of the inferrer animation style but I'm sure there is plenty of awesome episodes there.

Below is the teaser poster and trailer for the film. The trailer doesn't show much, but it cements the film is coming. While Ninja Scroll 2's release has been delayed for years and no sight of release date.

Scarlett Johansson Confirmed As The Major In Rupert Sanders' GHOST IN THE SHELL Movie

Variety is confirming that Scarlett Johansson has indeed has taken the lead role of The Major in Rupert Sanders' (Snow White And The Huntsman) Ghost In The Shell adaptation. The film is based on the wildly popular anime film and series, which was adapted from a manga. A new first-person-shooter game is also in development, so the franchise has been hinting all media market points. Steven Spielberg who originally obtained the film rights is still listed as a producer, which is good news.

The story revolves on a futuristic Japanese secret police unit of augmented humans and cyborgs. Who are tasked to fight technology based crimes and terrorism with extreme force. Scarlett's character The Major, is a key team leader in the unit.

The actress isn't a stranger to Japan or Asia, as her first breakout role was in Sophia Coppola's Tokyo-set Lost In Translation opposite Bill Murray. Also recently, shooting in Taiwan for Lucy (speaking Korean in the film) and shot in South Korea for Age of Ultron. The understanding is that the film should and will be still set in Japan. As we haven't heard otherwise, considering Scarlett's history with shooting in Asian countries. The assumption is they will be shooting on location in Japan. I have zero doubts we could even see her speaking Japanese in the film.

However, Hollywood has whitewashed and Americanized manga/anime properties before. Warner Bros. famously tried to limit the Japanese influence in their Akira film, looking at all white actors for the leads. Along with moving the setting to Manhattan and not Neo Tokyo. I'm sure this sort of information will be released once the film is officially greenlit.

Scarlett's rise is in-part thanks to her widely beloved role as Marvel's Black Widow in Iron Man 2, Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. Over the summer her breakout French-produced action hit Lucy made $458.8M on a budget of $40M. Proving the actress has international awareness, not to menion beating Dwayne Johnson's Hercules (a film budgeted over $100M) it's opening weekend (the two films opened the same weekend). The international take in Russia, China and other Asian markets prove that audiences can handle an American actress in a foreign setting.

It's been reported by Deadline the actress was offered $10M for the role. Which would she her acting quote sky-rocket for future film contacts. It's doubtful the notoriously stingy Marvel Studios would be willing to pay her $10M a film, if she only has a supporting role in the cinematic universe. Robert Downey Jr. has figured-out a way to get paid $50M an appearance, but Scarlett isn't as essential to the MCU as Robert is at the moment.

Kevin Feige has since axed all talk about developing a Black Widow spin-off movie, and has confirmed her place is as a supporting character. I'm still unsure if Widow will come out of Age of Ultron alive, as this sort of talk gives the impression they could kill her off before having to draw-up a new and very expensive contract. This looks to be a smart power move on the part of Scarlett who is quickly becoming equally known for her action hero status as her dramatic and indie projects.

Scarlett Johansson Wanted Badly For GHOST IN THE SHELL, Studio Offers Actress $10M

While Marvel Studios sleeps on the opportunity to make a Black Widow franchise. Other studios are taking advantage of Scarlett Johansson's rising action stardom. Lucy recently broke $400 million worldwide, beating the huge budgeted Hercules on opening weekend domestically. Even though, the French production cost $40 million to make.

Dreamworks wants Johansson baldy for their adaptation of the manga/anime Ghost In The Shell. Deadline reports the studio is offering the lead role, along with a $10 million payday. Margot Robbie was originally linked for the role, but could take a lead in Suicide Squad instead. An offer she would unlikely be getting from Marvel Studios. Her contract with Marvel is coming to an end, and it's unlikely the studio will want to re-up her contract. Knowing she would be asking for more money, and possibly her own feature.

Director Rupert Sanders (Snow White And The Hunstman, Live-Action Halo Commercials) has been tapped to direct Shell, and could become a launching-point for a very cool female-driven action franchise.

Margot Robbie In Talks To Lead Rupert Sander's GHOST IN THE SHELL

TheWrap reports that Australian actress Margot Robbie (Tarzan, Wolf of Wall Street) is in early talks to take the lead role in Dreamworks' Ghost In The Shell movie. The film based on the widely popular anime/manga series, has been in development for ages. Rupert Sanders (Snow White And The Huntsman) will direct the film with an updated script from screenwriter Bill Wheeler.

Robbie's role would likely be a version of Major Motoko Kusanagi, a member of a covert ops team that fights tech/cyber crime and terrorists, in Japan. The Major is a cyborg herself, but it's unknown how many changes the filmmakers will make from the original source material.

Rupert Sanders Will Direct Live-Action GHOST IN THE SHELL Movie

It's been years since we've heard anything new concerning the live-action Ghost In The Shell movie from Dreamworks and Steven Spielberg, but Deadline has a production update. They say that, Rupert Sanders (Snow White And The Huntsman) has made a deal to direct and the project has a new script from William Wheeler.

Previously, a draft from screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island, Terminator: Genesis) had been written but likely won't be used. Sanders has a few other productions in the works, but this could be priority, if Edge of Tomorrow (another manga adaptation) becomes a big box office hit. At one point Rupert Sanders (like Neill Blomkamp) was being eyed to direct a Halo film. This was after directing the live-action ODST trailer. Having Rupert return to science fiction is a very good thing.

Sanders is the type of director they need for this project, a stellar visionary but new enough that will try new things. While I didn't love Huntsman, I did enjoy a lot of the visuals and mostly everyone in it (besides the wooden performance of Kristen Stewart). Let's just hope Rupert can be a little more professional with his lead actress, this time around. The key aspect now will be finding the right actors.

Rupert Sanders To Direct THE JULIET And Possibly VAN HELSING

Director Rupert Sanders (Snow White And The Huntsman) is already set to return for The Huntsman spin-off for Universal which will star Chris Hemsworth. However, Deadline reports that Rupert is also going to tackle science fiction with Sony's The Juliet. Sanders had been linked to direct a Halo film before talks broke down, he had previously directed live-action commercials for the video game. Also, there is word from TwitchFilm that Sanders is also talking with Universal for their new take on vampire hunter Van Helsing which has Tom Cruise attached to star.

SPECULATION: Rupert Sanders Hinting He's Making The 'DUNE' Reboot?

During the London red carpet premire of Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders was  asked by HeyUGuys about what was he next project. He was coy about a Huntsman sequel but revealed an untitled science fiction project that was being influenced by The Battle of Algiers. I just realized what Rupert could have been referring to with his ambiguous statement. It could end up being the long in-development reboot of Dune.

When Ridley Scott was attached to direct Dune he intended to split the book into two movies. He worked on three drafts of the script, using The Battle of Algiers as a point of reference, before moving on to direct Blade Runner instead. This little tidbit of information is from Ridley Scott: The Making of his Movies by Paul M. Sammon. The original Dune was a massive flop but would eventually become a cult favorite similar to Ridley's Blade Runner. It's possible this could have been a slight hint to sci-fi fans from Rupert.

Directors Peter Berg (Hancock, Battleship) and Pierre Morel (Taken, From Paris With Love) been attached to a new Dune film before the project went into limbo. It's quite possible that Rupert is at least in talks with Paramount and the Dune rights holder to put together a new package for the reboot. Sanders has a visual presence that dwarves previous attached directors. Along with his fantasy background from making Huntsman he also has a sci-fi background helming live-action commercials for Halo. Sanders had been inline to take over the Halo film from Neill Blomkamp before that project went into limbo too. I think if given a solid script Sanders could help develop one hell of a new Dune franchise. He's still in talks with Universal for the Huntsman sequel which isn't a done deal (Sanders only signed up for one film).

Universal Officially Moving Forward With 'HUNTSMAN' Sequel, Writer David Koepp Confirmed

Universal Pictures could have hit on their hands when the final box numbers for Snow White And The Huntsman roll out. Deadline is reporting the studio is fast tracking the sequel with screenwriter David Koepp (Spider-Man, Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible) that been in talks back in April. All signs point to Universal aiming for the return of director Rupert Sanders for the next installment.

Sanders had stated on red carpets he was prepared to jump back for a sequel if need be but has another project in the que. Considering he had a decent deal with the studio the first time around it wouldn't be hard to see him come back. While I felt the film had a lacking script, Sanders created a wonderful world that we only got a small glimpse into it's true scope. A majority of the film's problems stem from a rushed release date due to a competing film. This time around they'll likely be given the extra time to make a better movie.

They will also likely bring back key cast members from the first film. Mainly, Chris Hemsworth as the Aussie actor is the most bankable star of the budding franchise thanks to the quality of his other projects (Thor, Avengers, Cabin In The Woods) boosting his international appeal. It had been reported that the studio was aiming for a spin-off focusing on the Huntsman which likely will be the case as Snow White doesn't really have a motive to continue into another film. Considering the sheer hate from audiences and critics alike I'd be hard-pressed to expect the studio make Kristen Stewart's Snow White a main character in the sequel.

Chris Hemsworth Comments On Possible 'HUNTSMAN' Spin-Off

During an interview with Google+ Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth gave a brief statement on the rumors of him starring in his own Huntsman focused spin-off. It had been reported that Universal hired screenwriter David Koepp to write a treatment for a sequel to Snow White And The Huntsman with Rupert Sanders expected to return as director. The catch is that the film would center around Hemsworth's character likely without Steward and Theron being involved. It's not surprising since Universal currently doesn't have a string of franchises to rely on. Chris has two rather strong franchises already with Thor and Avengers. It would be smart for the studio to capitalize if Snow White is successful as well.

“Yeah, sure, if there’s an audience for it and people wanna see it and there’s a great script and room to do something different with it, absolutely. I’ve heard probably the same rumors you have about possible sequels to this or prequels as far as the Huntsman’s storyline [goes]. We’re pretty elusive for the most of it; he begins having suffered some sort of trauma in a whole life before this point, and then at the end it’s left open as well. We had endless discussions about ‘where does he come from and why does he do this and what’s this about?’ and it all of a sudden opened up all these ideas about his whole life prior to this. I said, at one stage, ‘Maybe he could sort of spin-off into Cinderella world and then Sleeping Beauty, and he’s a Huntsman through the fairy tales,’ but that got shot down pretty quick (laughs).”

Rupert Sanders Reveals He's Working On A Sci-Fi Film Based On 'BATTLE OF ALGIERS'

During a red carpet interview with HeyUGuys director Rupert Sanders revealed a second project he's been working on. We've already know that studio is keen on Snow White And The Huntsman and want a sequel focusing on the Huntsman. It makes sense with star Chris Hemsworth's Avengers becoming one the biggest films of all-time. That the studio would want to pursue more starring vehicles for Hemsworth. Rupert also mentions a sci-fi project he's been working on. You might remember that the direct made a string of live-action commercials for HALO: ODST and HALO: REACH. He was also rumored to be in the mix for the live-action film which is currently in limbo.

Sanders reveals that besides a sequel he's working on an untitled science fiction film loosely based on the 1966 film Battle of Algiers. The film is based on the real events that took place during the Algerian revolution against the French foreign legion. One of the bloodiest uprisings in modern history the film is a brutal look at modern warfare. I can only imagine seeing these dark themes used in the backdrop of science fiction film. Halo commercial alumni, Neil Blomkamp's District 9 and his upcoming Elysium have both used similar commentaries from history. District 9 contrasting South African Apartheid with a stranded alien population.

A film commissioned by the Algerian government that shows the Algerian revolution from both sides. The French foreign legion has left Vietnam in defeat and has something to prove. The Algerians are seeking independence. The two clash. The torture used by the French is contrasted with the Algerian's use of bombs in soda shops. A look at war as a nasty thing that harms and sullies everyone who participates in it.

David Koepp Could Write 'HUNTSMAN' Sequel For Universal

Deadline reports that Universal is in current talks with screenwriter David Koepp to start working the sequel to Snow White And The Huntsman. Koepp is best known for writing and adapting scripts for Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park II: The Lost World, Mission: Impossible, Carlito's Way, Death Becomes Her, Stir of Echos, Panic Room and Spider-Man. Before we get too excited he also contributed to uneven films like The Shadow, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of The Crystal Skulls, War of The Worlds and Angels And Demons. His next project coming to theaters is Men In Black 3 which could go either way, so let's hope they get another writer in there just to be sure.

The film directed by newcomer Rupert Sanders won't be released until June but the studio is looking to fast track it's sequel. Sanders is wanted to helm the second film and it could be his next directorial effort. It's been said that the next film would focus on The Huntsman played by Chris Hemsworth. This gives the impression that Hemsworth had a stronger performance compared to Kristen Stewart's Snow White, who has little to zero dialog in the trailers and TV spots. It's also not surprising with the impending international success of Avengers and Thor 2 set to be released in November 2013. We shouldn't have to wait that long as turnaround on the first film was eight months which is very quick all things considered wouldn't be shocked to see this in theaters later 2013 or summer 2014.

'SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN' Sequel To Focus On The Huntsman

Snow White And The Huntsman won't be in theaters until June but it looks like Universal Pictures loves what they've seen. The trailers and TV spots have had a decent impact compared to the box office bomb Mirror Mirror. BleedingCool picked up on a small tidbit in a THR article that states if successful Universal will be looking at a sequel focusing on The Huntsman played by Chris Hemsworth. I assume this means that director Rupert Sanders will also be returning for more films.

It's not hard to understand why Universal would want to develop a franchise around the Aussie actor. Hemsworth has been front and center along with Charlize Theron in the promotions for the film. He's already a fixture with two franchises Thor and Avengers. Not to mention his horror thriller Cabin In The Woods hits theaters next week and has been praised by bloggers/reviewers. He also has the Red Dawn remake set for a release later in the year. As a bonus it looks like Kristen Stewart won't be in this sequel.

Who Should Direct Thor 2?

Now that we know that Patty Jenkins, Brian Kirk and Kenneth Branagh aren't options to direct Thor 2, who could? Previously we've seen some names that seem like odd matches before but have turned out great for Marvel Studios like Jon Favreau and Branagh. I think with the production date looming the studio might want to consider a few names. They very well won't workout because of scheduling issues but I feel these directors could bring something to the table.

RUPERT SANDERS: He's new to the movie industry but is cutting his teeth with a rather large project currently Snow White And The Huntsman which stars Chris Hemsworth. Rupert already has a working relationship with Hemsworth and seems to be able to handle a project of this size along with it's budget restrictions. Huntsman features a lot of fantasy aspects that could be interesting seen in a Thor sequel. The humor might be an issue for Sanders since Huntsman looks like it could be a lot more serious than Thor. However, the last film was able to balance between many different emotions and could go darker if need be. While Huntsman will get a June release date between now and then Sanders is likely going to be busy as can be with post-production on the film.

NICOLAS WINDING REFN: Nicolas is film geek gold winning over many with his conceptual eye-popping thriller Drive this year. He's been itching to make a comic book film being on many people's list to step in for future Batman films. Not to mention Refn's own intentions on making a serious Wonder Woman film for Warner Bros. but has yet to be taken up on the offer. Refn has stated his favorite of his own films was Valhalla Rising which featured a one eyed mute Viking slave who was a prize fighter. If Marvel really wanted to go the auteur route Nicolas would be that route. He's currently shooting another smaller film title Only God Forgives which could easily be edited on the fly. I could see him being able to handle the genre and it's humor my only concern would be it's pacing. The only issue could be his in development remake of Logan's Run could end up being his next project if WB wants it to be.

DUNCAN JONES: He's been linked as a contender for Man of Steel, The Wolverine and Iron Man 3, the latter more rumor if anything else. Jones is a solid science fiction director his films Moon and Source Code run the gauntlet of emotions which doesn't often happen in the genre. Thor is equally set in fantasy as it is science fiction which could be explored greatly with Jones behind the camera. He currently doesn't have a set film on his slate while the others on the list do. Duncan has yet to fully jump into franchise territory and is unlikely to do so without a serious reason to. One of his passion projects Mute has been lacking in financing which could change if he knocked out something like Thor 2. I liken Duncan to Matthew Vaughn early in his career, so I dying to see what he can do with a Marvel property.

Patty Jenkins Won't Direct Thor 2

Deadline reports that Monster director Patty Jenkins won't be directing Thor 2. The studio and Patty had a disagreement over creative issues which lead to her exit. However, they state Jenkins could end up directing another one of Marvel's laundry list projects. Marvel will have to move quickly as production is expected to start in September of next year with a release date a little over a year after that date. Giving a director enough time to put together pre-production, set creation and new casting additions. Thor 2 is expected to be a rather large sequel with it's Asgardian population rumored to be doubling in size. Not to mention the fact there has been talk the movie is likely to be set in other realms which is very costly for the studio.

Brian Kirk (Luther, Game of Thrones) had also been in talks with the studio but also left over creative and budget issues. This isn't new for Marvel as the original Thor film went through a similar process to find it's director. Names like Matthew Vaughn and Sam Raimi were once attached to direct before Kenneth Branagh was ultimately hired. Jenkins could better suit a majority of the other projects in development and I'm sure will be back at Marvel in the future.
If Rupert Sanders wasn't busy with Snow White and The Huntsman I would have felt he was the director for the job. The film has a similar scale and tone which also stars Chris Hemsworth.

Starship Troopers Is Being Remade

Producer Neal H. Moritz is known for taking on rather large projects and reboots. He currently has Total Recall and Bryan Singer's Jack The Giant Killer to be released this summer. Along with a slew of other projects that include 21 Jump Street, R.I.P.D. (Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges), RED 2, Highlander and Escape From New York. Neal is about to develop a remake of yet another film from director Paul Verhoeven this time according to Vulture it will be Starship Troopers. The 90's cult classic was a massive misstep for Sony when the $100 million film didn't make a splash at the box office when it first came out but then later made a killing in the home video market. It spawned two direct-to-DVD sequels which neither had the scale or action of the first film. However, it might be in good hands as Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz will tackle the remake's script. The pair are credited for writing both Thor and X-Men First Class which were some of the biggest success stories of the year.

As a big fan of the original I'm unsure which angle they'll be going for here. I was shocked how much they would exclude in Total Recall from the original film going as far as getting rid of the violence for a PG-13 rating along with Mars. To see a PG-13 Starship Troopers film would be an odd thing considering this a science fiction war film. Films like Saving Private Ryan and Platoon showed the realistic side to war but had to be R for this to happen. Even in science fiction the rules still apply just look at Aliens (which channeled Vietnam) for example if we didn't see the marines taken out so harshly I don't think the film would have had the same impact. Avatar for all it's stunning special effects didn't have the same urgency Aliens had because the realism was lost in it's fantasy world of CGI.

My faith in the project will also come down to casting and the director. I feel like Sony could be working the Hunger Games/Ender's Game angle here and looking to hire very young actors for the leads. Not unlike the original which had a fresh faced group of young actors put into combat. I would hope that the studio went for talent rather flavors of the month. Since I believe this reboot is likely a new franchise in the making. I don't have a lot of directors coming to mind who could do this justice but newcomer Rupert Sanders is among them. Sanders who I hope will make a name for himself with Snow White And The Huntsman also did a great job on the some of the Halo live-action commercials.

Emily Browning In The Running For Snow White

HeatVision reports that Australian actress Emily Browning has tested for the role of Snow White last week. Unlike the rumor of Kristen Stewart, testing for the role means there is a possibility of landing the part in Snow White & The Huntsman. Browning is about to blowup with her film Sucker Punch looking to be a massive blockbuster for the young actress. Emily is perfect for this type of role as the fantasy action theme is very similar to Sucker Punch.
