Ken Watanabe To Star In Japanese Remake Of UNFORGIVEN

Variety reports that Japanese actor Ken Watanabe (Batman Begins, Inception, Last Samurai) will star in Warner Bros. Japan's remake of Clint Eastwood's Oscar winning western epic Unforgiven titled Yurusarezaru Mono. The film will be re-envisioned with samurai instead of grizzled cowboys. The original dealt with a retired gun fighter/killer hired for one last bloody job. Ken will be in the lead with Lee Sang-il directing. Everyone should keep an eye out for this one as it will likely end up becoming awards bait when it's released.

For as long as Japanese cinema has been around Hollywood has been remaking classic samurai films as western adaptations. It's going to be very interesting to see how this one will turn out as it comes from the same Japanese studio that gave us Outrage.

Amy Adams Could Join Clint Eastwood In Trouble With The Curve

It's nice to see that Clint Eastwood is returning to acting as he will play the lead in the baseball drama Trouble With The Curve. This time Eastwood will only be in front of the camera as Robert Lorenz will be directing with a script from Randy Brown. The film focuses on an aging baseball scout who goes on one last scouting trip with his daughter to evaluate a promising young player. Sandra Bullock had been mentioned for the daughter previously but Variety now says Amy Adams has been offered the role. Amy is an excellent addition and dare I say a better draw than Bullock.

Clint Eastwood's Hereafter (2010)

Clint Eastwood will direct the supernatural thriller written by screenwriter Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon). Originally set up at Dreamworks the project has been moved to Warner Bros., with Steven Spielberg still on as executive producer. The two heavy weight directors have worked together previously on Flags of Our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima. This would mark the first outing for Eastwood into the world of horror/fantasy. The film is described similar to The Sixth Sense, let's hope the idea is a little more original.



Matt Damon and Eastwood will re-team for the film. Damon has previously worked with Clint on Invictus, which will be released this December. Set in South Africa, the film is based on the real-life story of rugby player Francois Pienaar who with the help of Nelson Mandela unified the country in the wake of apartide.
