Variety reports that Emile Hirsch (Milk, Into The Wild) has joined Olivia Thirlby (Juno, Wackness) in The Darkest Hour. It's a science-fiction thriller set in Russia and follows group of survivors of an alien invasion. The two actors will play American tourists who have to try to survive after the invasion. The film's budget is modest at $40 million but is being produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) so it has promise. It will be directed by Chris Gorak best known for Right At Your Door.
