Tom Hardy Could Star In Crime Thriller ANIMAL RESCUE

Variety reports that Tom Hardy (Inception, Dark Knight Rises) is in talks to take a role in Animal Rescue. The Boston crime drama is based on a short story from author Dennis Lehane with Michael Roskam (Bullhead) attached to direct. Lehane's novels Shutter Island, Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River have been previously been adapted into awards caliber films. Dennis wrote the script himself which could mean it's going to be another solid outing.

RUMOR: Damian Lewis To Play Norman Osborn/Green Goblin In SPIDER-MAN 2?

After it was revealed that Homeland actor Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers) had also been in talks with Sony for the role of baddie Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. There are now rumblings online that Lewis could be looked at to play the villainous Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. Nothing concrete just yet but he'd be an excellent addition to the franchise. Plus, it could be interesting to see Jamie Foxx and Lewis playing off each other.

Masters Of Evil In AVENGERS 2 Afterall?

What started off as my own speculation as three members of The Masters of Evil had been confirmed/rumored for upcoming Marvel films. They included Radioactive Man (Iron Man 3), Crossbones (Cap 2) and the rumored Baron Zemo (Cap 2). Now Marvel insider Roger Wardell has Tweeted that the Masters will indeed be involved in Avengers 2. Also, stating that instead of saving the world in the sequel the group will be saving themselves. Whedon had previously mentioned the sequel would be a more personal story told on a smaller scale. What could be more personal than a group of Marvel villains taking the offensive with the aim of killing off the Avengers instead of taking-over/destroying the planet?

Guillermo Del Toro Talks STAR WARS EPISODE VII, Hasn't Been Approached

SlashFilm picked up a new interview where writer/director Guillermo del Toro has commented on Star Wars Episode VII. He reveals he hasn't been asked to do it but seems open if he didn't have as many projects in development. Not counting Pacific Rim still in post-production he still has Heaven Sent, The Haunted Mansion, At The Mountains of Madness, Frankenstein, Van Helsing, Trollhunters, Jekyll And Hyde, Hellboy 3, Journey To The West/Temple of The Heavens all in different stages of development. However, like with the Hobbit and Pacific Rim if he's offered an interesting film he's willing to wait. Guillermo had recently been in the mix to direct Dawn of The Planet of The Apes before Matt Reeves landed the job. Anything is possible but if he's not in the mix already LucasFilm might have someone already in mind.

"You know, I saw it on the Internet, but I haven’t approached them, they haven’t formally approached me. I mean, I heard some rumblings, but to me it’s really — I have so many projects to discuss or think about. [For] something that is not a possibility yet, I don’t do that. You know, because I have so many things that I need to catch up with. If this becomes ever a reality, and there’s an approach to do it, I would then think about it, but — it’s like thinking if I want to date a supermodel. I don’t think about these things."

Colin Trevorrow Comments On STAR WARS EPISODE VII

When asked during a podcast writer/director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) about the rumor he's being looked at to be the director of Star Wars Episode VII. He doesn't straight out deny and gives a very political answer. Similar to what Jon Favreau recently said about the project. This gives the impression he's at least involved with talks with LucasFilms.

“I have very little to say about it. [stammering] Certainly, no specifics about whats going on behind the scenes in the selection of that person [a director]. I think that I can speak as a Star Wars fan, which is important to me. Whoever does do this movie, I think, just needs to have a fundamental understanding of why its important to us. We come from a generation who grew up with this as children, to us its almost a belief system. Its harder for people who are older or who were already teenagers when the movie came out to understand how deeply it is our mythology.And there are a bunch of incredible directors who are up for this job… I think whoever gets it will have that fundamental understanding of why Star Wars matters so much to a billion people. Its just incredible. So that’s all I can say about that. I’m equally excited about it. … that’s all you’re gonna get!”

 It would be awesome because it means there would be a stronger chance that Aubrey Plaza (Scott Pilgrim, Parks And Rec, Funny People, Mystery Team, Safety Not Garanteed) could end up in a role.

Anne Hathaway Confirmed For Steven Spielberg's ROBOPOCALYPSE

Empire has word from Anne Hathaway (Dark Knight Rises) that if the film moves forward she'll have a role in Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse. The film was written by Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods, Cloverfield) and is based on the novel by Daniel H. Wilson. Chris Hemsworth (Avengers) has already been cast in the male lead with Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) in talks for another role.

"If 'Robopocalypse' happens I will be in it and I believe it’s quite real, though you never want to hang your hat on anything."

WHAT IF?: Test Footage And Images For Ridley Scott's I AM LEGEND Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger

Ridley Scott's I Am Legend is yet another killed Arnold Schwarzenegger project that could have been amazing. StanWinstonSchool has posted a very interesting story on the development of the makeup-tests for Ridley Scott's purposed I Am Legend film from 1997. That would have starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and including some heavy duty makeup for the vampire-creatures. The site posts images and even video of the development. I Am Legend joins the laundry list of films that Arnold could have made which includes Die Hard, Sgt. Rock, Planet of The Apes, Spider-Man, The Rock and Full Metal Jacket.

Of course the Will Smith version was the one that made it to theaters and these stunning pieces were never used. Instead the creatures were created using terrible cheap looking CGI. Ridley's other film Legend is still considered a highlight for practice effects makeup, a lot of the techniques have been used in Peter Jackson's Middle Earth trilogies. You might also notice that they look very similar to the hybrid vampires in Guillermo del Toro's Blade 2.

Guillermo Del Toro Talks PACIFIC RIM Sequel And HEAVEN SENT

Collider was able to speak with Guillermo del Toro about the development on a sequel for Pacific Rim. The film pits humans piloting large robots against giant monsters. Warner Bros. apparently is eyeing the project as a budding-franchise. Guillermo revealing he's already working on ideas with screenwriter Travis Beacham for sequels. He mentions it won't be next as he has other projects about to start up. He also talked to MTV confirming early talks with the studio to make the DC Comics occult team-up film Heaven Sent.


“We certainly started tossing ideas for possibilities of a sequel and Travis Beacham and I are writing a proposal of ideas, but at the same time I know I don’t want to do that next. I want to do something else, I want to do something in a different genre that’s not so big. So I don’t know yet what it’s gonna be, but I know that next year I’m delivering Pacific Rim in July and then I’m doing—God willing—the voice shooting for Pinocchio and then the pilot for The Strain for FX.”

RUMOR: Iron Man Appearing In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?

This Marvel rumor is coming from a blog I've haven't really read before, so this news isn't the most reliable. ComicBook state they have a source tells them that Robert Downey Jr. will have a role in Marvel's upcoming sci-fi epic adventure film Guardians of The Galaxy. This new information is stemming from original speculation from a recent comic book (Iron Man is asked to join the Guardians) Iron Man would join the film. The site also points out another recent rumor that Iron Man 3 will have a mid-credits and post-credits bonus scenes (linked to Guardians?). However, JoBlo got word from writer/director James Gunn who killed the rumor. While a recent Tweet from a Variety reporter gives the impression it's possible and depends on Robert.

RDJ made a deal with Marvel Studios that he'd get a percentage of every Marvel film he agrees to be apart of. He earned around an estimated $100 million plus for Avengers, it's anyone's guess how much he'll make on Iron Man 3. So if Marvel wants Tony Stark/Iron Man in a Marvel film they just have to pay him later instead of a rather large upfront fee that would cut into the budget.

With Whedon handling the creative side things for the Marvel universe we have no idea what direction the film will go. I'd imagine if he wants to expand the Marvel cosmic universe they'd need someone from the Avengers world to bridge the two worlds (Earth/cosmic). Marvel has stated they want Guardians to be their Star Wars franchise so seeing some of the Avengers in the film isn't hard to believe. We've already heard rumblings that Nova Corps and Thanos could play major roles in film. To see Iron Man in a space epic could open the doors to other large possibilities for Iron Man 4 and even a new Hulk film (Planet Hulk/World War Hulk). He's already been in space during the missile scene in Avengers so maybe he tries out a new suit made for the harsh elements of space travel.
