Tarantino Reaffirms Plans To Make 30's Era Gangster Flick
Quentin Tarantino's eighth film Django Unchained will be finally released on Christmas Day but it's currently unknown what's next for the writer/director. He's currently mulling over a couple of projects including an adaptation of Len Deighton's spy novels and is writing Kill Bill 3 (maybe Kill Bill 4 as well). However, one that Quentin has mentioned more recently is a Pretty Boy Floyd-like 30's gangster film. It had been mentioned that he would make another film before production starts on Kill Bill 3. BleedingCool has word that Quentin brought up the project again while speaking at BAFTA.
"I could conceive maybe someday doing a 30′s gangster picture, or something like that. I could think of doing another western, actually."
Tarantino has been hinting about a Christoph Waltz trilogy assuming that Basterds and Django being the first two installments. Could this gangster film be the end for his Waltz trilogy? We know that Deadwood greatly inspired Django Unchained as Quentin hired a bunch of actors from the show and even used their old sets. I have a good feeling that Boardwalk Empire starring Reservoir Dogs' Steve Buscemi is giving Tarantino a bunch of ideas for this gangster film. He's also waxed poetic on Sergio Leone's Once Upon A Time In America which is considered the gem of the genre.
Quentin has stated he would be only making ten films before walking into the sunset and retire from directing. It's unknown how serious he is about that statement but you never know with him. He may decide to scrap plans for Kill Bill 3 and make passion projects instead.

4 Hour 48 Minute Cut of Sergio Leone's Once Upon A Time In America Coming
There was previous news that Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair would be playing at the New Beverly and likely hit stores soon after. Now there is some more amazing director's cut news. Variety reports the children of director Segrio Leone have got a hold of the rights to Once Upon A Time In America. Originally the film was expected to be two films as Leone shot around 10 hours of footage. It eventually hit Cannes in 1984 with the running time of 229 minutes but the studio had him cut it down to 134 minutes for the theater release. They will release a new cut that comes in close to 5 hours and will premiere at Cannes 2012 which will lead to a release on Blu Ray/DVD. I think more Leone is good thing I wouldn't be shocked to see more of films getting re-cuts like this in the future.

Tarantino Making Untitled Spaghetti Western & Christoph Waltz Has A Role?
AICN is reporting that Quentin Tarantino's next film will be a Spaghetti Western set to shoot sometime this year. They also mention that Christoph Waltz will have a role in the film. Zero plot information is attached to this story and who Waltz will play. Take this news with grain of salt as this could be from mouth of Tarantino himself but could never end up happening. He's notorious for talking up possible projects but never actually happening. Yet, it's interesting to think this could be the film he makes before jumping into Kill Bill 3.
Tarantino has long talked about his love for Italian director Sergio Leone and being a major influence in his films. Leone directed some of the best westerns ever put on film including Once Upon A Time In The West and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. They say the project could start shooting sometime this year in Spain and Italy. I could see see Quentin doing a similar way of shooting that he did with Inglourious Basterds. Shooting and editing at the same time to have it ready for a premiere at Cannes next year. If true this just became my most anticipated film of 2012.
