SPOILER SPECULATION: Could LatinoReview's Big Super Bowl Scoop Concern Ms. Marvel And Vision Joining The AVENGERS 2 Lineup?

LatinoReview's El Mayimbe has been dropping Marvel scoops for years and has been promising a big one for Super Bowl Sunday. Previously, dropping Justice League details including the villain and the final superhero lineup. He's been posting instagram hints on his Twitter account slowly giving fans a chance to guess what the Marvel story is concerning. However, I think I may have cracked his big story. While Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of The Galaxy are about to shoot this Spring/Summer the final Phase Two film Avengers 2, hasn't been really talked about. Could El Mayimbe be hinting to Avengers 2?

Concerning the star hint, my first thought went to Captain America transformation into Agent Steve Rogers. As the star logo is on the chest of Steve's updated costume when he gave up the Captain America mantle to Bucky. Giving the impression that Cap would be having a radical costume chance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Another was that Rhodey (Don Cheadle) might be joining Avengers 2 as War Machine. That doesn't seem to be the case as El Mayimbe has stated nobody had actually guessed right.

The first image he posted was a simple diamond shape he with his hands over his chest. This sort of gives it away, as Vision has always had a diamond on his costume's chest and one on his forehead.

It's possible that he's about to announce that Vision and Ms. Marvel joining the Avengers 2 conflict as new members. The star image looks like it's on the side of a jet, Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) starts out as a test pilot in the Air Force before gaining superpowers during an accident involving an explosion of alien (Kree) technology. She has similar powers to Rogue (who stole her power from Danvers placing her into a coma as a result) minus the ability to tae energy/powers. The other image is obviously him mimicking the Vision's diamond on his chest. An android built by Ultron who starts out as an Avengers villain only to become of their most loyal members.

Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon have talked about including at least two new members for Avengers 2. While Black Widow and Maria Hill represented the female side of the MCU neither have superpowers. There has been talk of including a superheroine for the sequel. A rumor sparked around the release of Avengers that Agent Phil Coulson might have been life-model decoy (a reference to androids made by Stark when Coulson comes calling) aka Vision. His involvement in a post-Avengers S.H.I.E.L.D. series is giving the impression that Phil actual didn't die in the film. Yet, if he did it's possible they could have made a android version of him to try to resurrect Nick Fury's "good eye". Again, this is a comic book universe and stranger things have happened. In the comics Vision is given the personality of Wonder Man a character that Joss has stated he will never use. I could see them somehow granting Vision Phil's brain patterns instead.

There have also been rumblings that Marvel was looking to make a Ms. Marvel film but were holding it off to find the right actress to carry the franchise. A casting rumor appeared from a UK outlet pointing to ex-Black Widow Emily Blunt (Looper) and Disney alumni Ruth Wilson (Luther, Lone Ranger) in the mix for Avengers 2 as Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel. In my own opinion, Jessica Chastain seems equally possible as a candidate previously being offered a supporting role in Iron Man 3. She turned it down to make Zero Dark Thirty instead. That role leading her to earn her second Oscar nomination, this time Best Actress. When she commented on turning down the part Jessica seemed hopeful to be cast in another Marvel film. She also had two number one films this month with Mama and the wide-release of Zero Dark Thirty. Making her sort of a box office draw now.

This is just my speculative mind at work here. I don't think we'll know for sure until this Sunday. It does seem to fit into previously things that have been rumored/talked about by the folks at Marvel. Along with the talk of adding a superpowered female character to the Avengers lineup. Plus, I could see a Ms. Marvel film fitting in nicely into the Phase Three lineup beside Ant-Man and Doctor Strange (hopefully Black Panther as well!).

Ruth Wilson And Emily Blunt Wanted For Ms. Marvel In AVENGERS 2

We're finally getting our first casting talk concerning Avengers 2. DailyMail is reporting that Marvel is looking to cast either Ruth Wilson (Lone Ranger) or Emily Blunt (Looper) in the role of Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) for the sequel. There had been talk of Danvers joining the lineup for months, including development on her own solo film. We already know that Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige are aiming to add another female member to the team. Having a heroine with actual superpowers like Carol seems very likely. Scarlet Witch could also be an option as the character is co-owned by Marvel Studios and was going to be played by Scarlett Johannson before she took over the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2.

That being said, this isn't the first rumor concerning Blunt there had been talk of her taking the role of Whitney Frost in Iron Man 3 which wasn't true. Emily had been cast as Black Widow before exiting Iron Man 2 for another film. She had tested for Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger. It's sounding like she has a first-look deal with Marvel for meaty female roles. Wilson on the other hand is best known for her television roles with Marvel alums Idris Elba (Luther) and Hayley Atwell (The Prisoner). Ruth recently nabbed a large role in Disney's The Lone Ranger which might have helped her land on Marvel's radar. I had pegged Wilson for the role of Scarlet Witch but you never know.

Jessica Chastain Still Wants To Join A Marvel Film

Oscar nominated actress Jessica Chastain talked to TotalFilm about having to turn down a role in Iron Man 3. You might remember Jessica was offered a supporting role but would have to turn it down due the production of Karthyrn Bigelow's (Hurt Locker) Zero Dark Thrity (Seal Team Six film). The role would eventually go to Rebecca Hall. Jessica is being very political about it and seemingly gives the impression would could see her involved in future Marvel films. Theres plenty of roles she could be perfect for such as Enchantress, Scarlet Witch, Sharon Carter, Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) and Medusa (Inhumans). She seems a little too high-profile for just small supporting role. I could see Chastain taking a role that would eventually become a franchise. Similar to how Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner were introduced in the Marvel films.

"It's always a good problem to have because it means you have options. It's not really a problem, but it was just impossible, schedule-wise. So I was sad. I met Shane Black earlier and I think he's going to make an amazing film. And of course I went to see Avengers Assemble earlier and I loved it. I hope to be in a Marvel film."

RUMOR: 'MS. MARVEL/CAPTAIN MARVEL' Film Has A Script?

CBM has picked up a new rumor from DCWomenKickingAss that has spilled out of KAPOW! in the UK. Marvel's Joe Quesada mentions during an off-panel conversation that a Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel film is in the works. Stating they are currently waiting for an actress but a script is already in place. This source doesn't have a reason to embellish but it's hard to believe this with another statement from Joe. Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) is headlining a new Captain Marvel comic book series.

"A script for a Ms/Captain Marvel movie is ready to go. They just needed an actress. Marvel are having a meeting in a couple of weeks and will be ready to announce some films then … He said we’d be pleasantly surprised."

A more reliable source, AICN seems to get a different story from Joe Quesada himself on female driven superhero films.

"In a chat afterwards, Joe told me that he’d love to make a tentpole movie with a female lead, but that he really doesn’t think there is an actress right now who could carry it, or a character that would work either. I’m thinking I might agree with him on this one actually."

Marvel has the rights to the Skrull race but didn't use them in Avengers because of the overload of different powers. Joss Whedon stated that it might be unlikely to see the Skrulls in a future Avengers film either as Marvel believes they're big enough for their own film. The only project that would make sense to see Skrulls involved in their own film would be a Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel film with the Kree/Skrull war or a possible Secret Invasion storyline.

There has also been talk of Avengers 2 having a larger female presence. The Wasp is a given as Janet is a founding member of the team and will be seen in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. However, to see a heroine with actual superpowers should be included to balance out Hulk and Thor. Ms. Marvel and Scarlet Witch are fan-favorite candidates for the sequel.

Marvel Studios has been commissioning a rather large amount of scripts in the last couple of years. They even went as far as putting together a script development department which paired budding and seasoned writers to develop film properties for their other characters. C-list heroes like Iron Fist, Vision, Nighthawk, Dazzler and Killraven have been attributed to this script program. It's possible that more popular heroes like Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel could have been scripts along the way.

'AVENGERS 2' Could Be Getting Superheroines With Powers

Some of the complaints (be it few) is that Avengers essentially didn't have a single superheroine with powers. While we got two rather badass female SHIELD agents with Black Widow (Johansson) and Maria Hill (Smulders) they have limited talents. Also, they are not exactly meta-humans like the main four members (Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man). EW was able to speak with writer/director Joss Whedon and the cast about his issue. The consensus is that we'll be seeing more of a female presence in Avengers 2. So which superheroines will be joining the lineup?

WASP: All signs point to Janet van Dyne (The Wasp) alongside her boe Dr. Hank Pym (Ant-Man) joining the team by the way of Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. Her powers depend on the Pym suit she is wearing which includes the power of flight, shrinking, massive growth/strength and stinger blasters. Janet is equally as wise-cracking as Stark and it could be breath of fresh-air to see a less serious female character thrown into the mix. Since Widow and Hill are super serious government agents who barely crack a smile.

SCARLET WITCH: The second most recognizable female Avengers member is Wanda Maximoff better known as villain turned hero Scarlet Witch. Marvel confirmed they share the character's rights with Fox. She has the ability to manipulate probability via her "hexes" (often manifesting physically as "hex spheres" or "hex bolts"). These hexes are relatively short range, and are limited to her line of sight. Considering she is Magneto's daughter and their current focus is a young Magneto it's doubtful we'll be seeing her in the X-Men films anytime soon. The only catch with Marvel's version of her is that she can't be connected to Magneto, The X-Men, The Brotherhood of Mutants or even hint to her powers are from a mutant origin. It's possible that she could turn up in Thor 2 or Doctor Strange since her character will likely have cosmic/mystical powers rather being a mutant. Witch had been wanted for Iron Man 2 but those plans were scrapped. Scarlett Johansson was originally set for the role of Wanda according to Favreau during an interview with Wizard. This was before Emily Blunt exited the Black Widow role and Johansson replaced her.

MS. MARVEL: We could also see Air Force/SHIELD pilot Carol Danvers given alien Kree powers during an accident and became Ms. Marvel. Danvers' powers include flight, super-strength and other abilities. Interesting enough, Fox had issues with using Rogue in the original X-Men trilogy because they couldn't give her Ms. Marvel's powers which Rogue stole while a her turn as a villain. Rogue was instead turned into a young runaway similar more to a character like Jubilee.

SPECULATION: Is Ashley Johnson Playing A Marvel Heroine?

There seems to our first Avengers casting conspiracy. You might remember the blond waitress that appears in the trailers. She's played by Ashley Johnson (The Killing, The Help) who was first seen on Growing Pains which also developed Leonardo DiCaprio's career. Could this character be something more than she seems? Rumblings online have begun that she is more than just a cameo.

The waitress who witnesses the heroics of Steve Rogers firsthand seems to be enthralled by him. While nothing leads me to believe her role is nothing more than Joss giving a one of his actresses screentime (she has roles in both Whedon's Dollhouse and Much Ado About Nothing). There is a bit of "what if" here since she could be hinted as a possible future love interest. Possibly being revealed as Sharon Carter the niece of Peggy and the eventual SHIELD agent or the second thought is that she could be Carol Danvers (who later becomes Ms. Marvel). Sadly when it comes to these rumors they never seem to become true but the speculation is fun.

RUMOR: Yvonne Strahovski Playing Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) In Avengers

ComicBookMovie is reporting a rumor from a fansite of Chuck actress Yvonne Strahovski that she has been cast as SHIELD agent Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) in The Avengers. Danvers is SHIELD agent/pilot and is exposed to otherworldly radiation giving her the powers of a Kree warrior (flight, super-strength).

It's unlikely this is true as it's not coming from a proven source but it is possible. Since How I Met Your Mother's Cobie Smudlers is a frontrunner for Maria Hill means they could be looking for lesser known names to fill supporting roles. I assume they've spent a majority of their budget on the leading actors along with production costs. Supporting roles would be big breaks for up and coming actors. I imagine they would be signing multi-picture deals similar to ones Sam Jackson and Scarlett Johansson have made.

There have been Marvel connections to Chuck before. Zachary Levi who portrays Chuck was linked for both Fendral (Thor) and Bucky (Captain America). I expect that Levi will end up in a Marvel role eventually. Josh Schwartz who writes for the show helped develop the script for X-Men First Class with Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Miller and Stentz worked on the Thor screenplay for Marvel Studios.
