NEWS/RUMORS (Dec 19th)

Comic book writer Mark Millar has been talking of making a sequel to Kick-Ass. While we won't hear about the film's sequel for a while. It looks like Millar could be revealing the next installment in the comic series this summer. The comic will be titled Balls To The Wall, I'm sure this could also be the title of Kick-Ass 2. Millar has always seen the franchise as a trilogy. It's interesting to hear that Daniel Craig and Mark Wahlberg were first approached to play Big Daddy. The role would later go to Nicolas Cage.

Sam Worthington has confirmed that there will be reshoots on Clash of The Titans. While this isn't uncommon for a film. It's just cutting things a little close to it's release date. This could mean the film isn't what the studio hoped for or they're just adding finishing touches. The film could also be too violent or too dark for the aimed PG-13 rating and they're fine tuning things. Worthington also says there is the possiblity the film could be 3D. This doesn't make sense since the process would take too long. I'm still excited to see this film I just hope it's in 2D only.

Laurence Fishburne has joined Predators and will play Nolan. From what I know the character is human and lives a Spartan existence in the predator hunting preserve. Nolan has spent years hiding from the predators and avoiding death. Sounds like Fishburne will be adding another notch to his ass-kicking belt.

Paramount and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura are looking to do for westerns what POTC has done for pirate films. The film entitled The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday will be inspired loosely by the life of the gunslinger. This isn't a new thing recent films like Sherlock Holmes and Prince of Persia are also trying to capitalize from the concept established with the POTC franchise. Personally I think they should be aiming for more of a Young Guns reboot. Chad St. John (Outland, Sgt. Rock) has been hired to write the script. Westerns seem to be getting very popular with Jonah Hex releasing this summer along with Lone Ranger and Cowboys & Aliens in development.

Hugh Jackman is rumored to be in talks to play the lead in Prisoners. Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Brooklyn's Finest) has been hired to take on the film. I'm glad he's directing he does his best work in the crime/thriller genre. At one point Bryan Singer showed interest in directing along with actors Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg possibly starring in it.
