NEWS/RUMORS (Dec 17th)

The first trailer for Iron Man 2 was launched online last night.

Some surprising rumors have the upcoming Spider-Man 4 production going into delays. There seems to be an issue with the film's villain. Sony Pictures and director Sam Raimi are trying to come to an agreement. It's been reported that the studio isn't sold on the Vulture but aren't offering alternatives. Previously Raimi was forced to include Venom instead of the Vulutre in the third film.

Mark Strong has been making the rounds promoting Sherlock Holmes and he revealed to Cinema Blend some information on his character in John Carter of Mars. The character seems to be a shape-shifting villain.

"There's some filming in Utah, but most of it is in a studio outside of London. My character doesn't actually get involved in any of the motion-capture stuff. All the stuff is live action. Although I can shift my shape, so I have to be photographed by a 360-degree camera. I can adapt into anything. That's going to be my particular talent. [I ask what he'll transform into] Other human beings mainly. "

Rene Russo (Lethal Weapon 3, Thomas Crown Affair) has joined Thor. She will play Frigga the Queen of Asgard and step mother of Thor.

It looks like director Marc Forster (Quntaum of Solace, World War Z) and Gerard Butler could be working together on Machine Gun Preacher. The story chronicles the life of real life minister, biker and soldier Sam Childers.

Sam Childers has always been a fighter. Born to a violent father and a mother of great faith, his life was a contradiction. With an affinity for drugs and women, the angry young man grew into a drug-dealing biker. But that was then. Nowadays Sam-along with the cadre of Sudanese soldiers he employs-spends his time in the most dangerous parts of Sudan and Uganda rescuing the youngest victims of war, orphans and child-soldiers. His mission is simple: save the children, no matter the cost.

Sony has bought the rights to develop the Millennium book series. The books have already been adapted to a very well received trilogy of films in Sweden. There is also talk of both Brad Pitt and George Clooney being interested in the project. The first book in the series follows a disgraced journalist who teams up with a young female hacker to solve an old missing persons case. Quentin Tarantino mentioned his like for the films/books and would love to direct the American version.
