Chris Evans Says Captain America 2 Coming 2014?

Talking to ThePlaylist, Captain America star Chris Evans has mentioned when he thinks the sequel could be released along with contact aspects. He goes on to mention that the studio locked him into six films. So if he shows up in a cameo for a non-Captain America/Avengers film he'd be able to ask for more money if they want him for Cap 3 or Avengers 3. Evans thinks the studio might wait until 2014 to release Captain America 2.

"They may wait until 2014 until they release the next Cap. Marvel has a lot of balls in the air, they aren’t going to cannibalize their films.” And it could be very expensive for Marvel if Cap shows up in a non-Cap movie. “Out of those six films, if I pop up in one of those [other films], it counts as part of the deal. So if they needed me in a third Cap, and I say, ‘Fuck you, give me $30 million,’ well…they want to avoid that."

Previously it was announced Marvel Studios had two films set for 2014 the first one May 16th and the second June 27th. I assumed that the sequel would be one of these dates, it sounds like all but confirmation with Evans' statement. On the other hand Marvel has yet to announce dates for Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Iron Fist and Black Panther. They could wait to test the waters with new characters before rolling out a sequel.

Michael K. Williams Could Join Django Unchained

There had been rumors that Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire) had been in the mix for the role of Django in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. Micheal confirms this to Shadow&Act (via ThePlaylist) and has finally comments on the whole thing. He doesn't say it's a sure thing but Tarantino is trying to create a character for him so that he would appear in the film. Williams is best known for his legendary role of Omar on the Wire. He's been giving us interesting performances currently with Gone Baby Gone, Brooklyn's Finest, The Road and as Chalky White in HBO's Boardwalk Empire. Quentin is known for beefing up and or creating roles for actors so he can add them in his films.

"The rumors of me being considered for the lead role in ‘Django [Unchained]’ is very true. I was in meetings with Quentin, QT as I call him. It came down to Jamie and I,” Williams confirmed. “Wow… what a person to lose to. It’s not official yet but there’s a lot of talk that there may be a role coming back ‘round my way."

"Yes another role in the film. It’s not official yet but there’s a chance.  His people and my people have been in discussions in regards to a role that he is creating for me."

Danny McBride & Craig Robinson Join Jay And Seth Vs. The Apocalypse

Two more Apatow alumni have joined Seth Rogen's directorial debut Jay & Seth Vs. The Apocalypse. Seth has revealed to MTV that Danny McBride (Your Highness, Pineapple Express, Eastbound And Down) and Craig Robinson (Hot Tub Time Machine, The Office, Pineapple Express) have joined the cast. Currently the cast includes Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill and James Franco. Rogen also sort of confirms that Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) has passed on the project.

Milla Jovovich Confrims Leon Kennedy For Resident Evil 5

Actress Milla Jovovich has been tweeting detailed and spoiler filled tweets. One of them confirms that Leon Kennedy, Barry Burton and Ada Wong will be new additions to Resident Evil: Retribution. Another confirms that K-Mart, Chris and Claire Redfield however won't be returning. Sienna Guillory will reprise the role of Jill Valentine.

"Leon Kennedy and Barry Burton will make their first appearances in the series along with Ada Wong, who was in the Resident Evil 2, 4, and The Darkside Chronicles video games. Shawn Roberts will also return to play the villainous Albert Wesker."

Scott Adkins Joins Expendables 2

Yet another rising action star has joined the adrenaline fueled Expendables 2. MovieHole reports that British up and coming martial artist Scott Adkins will play Jean-Claude Van Damme's henchman. Adkins and Van Damme have previously worked together on The Shepard, Assassin Games and the upcoming Universal Soldier: A New Dimension. Scott has appeared as a badass fighter in films like The Tournament, Unleashed (Danny The Dog) along with the body/stunt double for Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He's also reasonable for creating a beast of a character with Undisputed 2 & 3's Yuri Boyka. I really hope this role ends up helping out Scott breakout into mainstream Hollywood projects.

Currently the sequel's impressive cast includes Sly Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris and Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games). It's set for an August 17th 2012 release date with it's production starting up very soon.

Meg Foster Joins Rob Zombie's Lords Of Salem

Not much movement has been announced concerning Rob Zombie's return to original material with his next film The Lords Of Salem. Besides the film's plot and inclusion of his wife Sherry Moon Zombie as having a role, nothing had been updated in a while. Rob has announced on Facebook that cult actress Meg Foster will lead a coven of witches that menaces the town. Zombie went so far as to post this image on the site. Foster is best known for cult roles in films such as They Live, Masters Of The Universe and Leviathan.

Michael Fassbender & Joel Kinnaman In The Mix For The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Warner Bros' new spy project The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is expected to be the studios' answer to Paramount's Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Universal's Bourne Legacy. WB is looking to hire equally talented rising stars to fill out the cast of UNCLE. Previously names like Ryan Gosling, Alexander Skarsgard and Joesph Gordon-Levitt had been on a studio wish-list. ThePlaylist adds other names to that list which include Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pine, Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jon Hamm, Russell Crowe and Robert Pattinson. Some of these names are interesting others underwhelming and uninspiring.

The site mentions that director Steven Soderbergh has met with Swedish/American actor Joel Kinnaman for the role of Russian spy Illya Kuryakin. Joel is a exceptional new actor giving intense performances in Snabba Cash and the series The Killing. He also recently landed a role in David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and the upcoming Moscow set alien thriller The Darkest Hour. I think Joel is a great up and coming actor so it's possible he'd be willing to sign a multiple film contract. While some other actors might not want to commit to a budding franchise like UNCLE. Yet the studio is very keen on their own golden boy Ryan Gosling for Illya.

George Clooney dropped out of project which had him attached for the role of American spy Napoleon Solo. Matt Damon and Brad Pitt had been knocked around but it doesn't look it will work out. Steven has another actor in mind for Solo, that being German/Irish actor Michael Fassbender. Fassbender is gathering a lot of praise for his film's Shame and A Dangerous Method which might lead to an Oscar nomination and or win. He's also ranking up some serious badass credits with roles in Inglourious Basterds, 300, X-Men First Class, Ridley Scott's Prometheus and Soderbergh's Haywire. They also mention Joesph Gordon-Levitt is liked by the studio but might be too young. Ewan McGregor is another possibility since he worked with Steven on Haywire and was originally going to play Basher (Don Cheadle) in the Ocean films.

I'd be on board to see Fassbender and Kinnaman cast as the film's leads. I wouldn't be shocked to see other big names peppered in the other roles and it seems like Soderbergh isn't leaving the film industry anytime soon. He has mentioned previously he only had a couple more films in him before he would retire. Yet a franchise in the making like this could mean he might be invested for at least an UNCLE trilogy. The studio has been making comparisons to Lethal Weapon meaning we'll be seeing a large scale action buddy comedy. It might be wishful thinking they'd also go with an R-rating since all four of the Lethal films were.

Liam Hemsworth Joins Expendables 2

ShowBlitz has word that Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games) has just signed on for Expendables 2. The Australian actor is the younger brother of Chris Hemsworth (Thor, Avengers, Red Dawn) and is becoming a rising star in Hollywood. Stallone had previously stated the sequel would be looking at a new blood for a Navy Seal role. "We also need some new blood in there, a Navy Seal-type, because with the Expendables none of them have 20-20 vision anymore. They need some help, man.”

Villains That Should Be In Future Captain America Films

After viewing Captain America: The First Avenger a couple of times I've found it very entertaining. Being one of the best of Marvel Studios' films yet. So when the studio moved forward with a second film I was very interested. There was an announcement that Marvel was developing a script for a Cap sequel but no release date was set but 2014 seems likely. Joe Johnston is expected to return as the director since he signed on to make two films.

Last month screenwriter Christopher Markus (Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America 2) brought up an interesting casting idea for Captain America 2 that could seen recent Emmy winner Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) in the role of villain Modok in the sequel. Modok of A.I.M. is one of the only villains mentioned besides the quote from director Joe Johnston stating he'd like to explore the Winter Soldier story. I've come up with a few other villains that should be on screen some known and some lesser known villains.

A.I.M.: Advanced Idea Mechanics is another large terrorist group and is a splinter group of Hydra which was started by Baron Von Strucker. Modok is also an important member of the group along with Monica Rappaccini better known as Scientist Supreme. If the studio decides not to resurrect Hydra, A.I.M. could be a good target for SHIELD and Cap.

ALEXSANDER LURKIN: There are a few villains that could help move the Winter Soldier aspect forward, mainly KGB agent Aleksander Lukin. He inherits the leadership of a KGB group which is in charge of the Winter Soldier project. Lurkin is also involved with Kronas Corporation and Roxxon Oil. There was an Roxxon building shown in the first Iron Man, so the company has been established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Russian aspect could also lead to the Russian Super Solider Program giving us Red Guardian. Lurkin also has aligned himself with Hydra and The Red Skull.

MADAME HYDRA: Is the second in command of Hydra under Baron Von Strucker along with being the usperper of The Serpent Squad. If they do deceide to bring back Hydra, Strucker and Madame Hydra could be great co-leaders for the present time group. They've been previously introduced in both the cartoon series along with the Cap video game Super Solider.

BARON ZEMO: Zemo is the second most popular Captain America villain after Red Skull and could really show up in either of the time periods. Considering Heinrich (12th Baron Zemo) is seen during WWII and his son Helmunt is the present day Zemo.

GEORGES BATROC: A former French Legionnaire and currently a mercenary who is a master of savate (French Kickboxing) has been upgraded over the years from comic relief to badass. Eventually being able to handle fighting off both Cap and Hawkeye at once. Batroc is also able to hold his own against Black Panther, who is one of the greatest hand-to-hand fighters in the Marvel universe. I could see him used as a hired gun and could be apart of any villaineous group.

REVIEW: Drive

Drive, focuses on a mechanic/part-time stunt driver who moonlights as a professional getaway driver. The driver warms up to his new neighbor Irene and her young son Benicio. It starts moving into dangerous territory when her husband Standard is in debt with local criminals after his recent release from prison. He helps out Irene's ex-convict husband's on one last job, when the robbery goes wrong it gets violent very fast.

I've been a fan of director Nicolas Winding Refn's films for years now. Beginning with his Pusher trilogy and it's interesting to see Nicolas evolve as a filmmaker. I think Drive is one of his most accessible films which isn't saying much since he does have odd tendencies. They include limiting the dialog of his lead actor. In Valhalla Rising, One Eye was a mute while most others other than Bronson also have limited dialog. Ryan Gosling's unnamed driver nicknamed Kid is almost as silent in the film but when he does talk there is some power and awkwardness behind it. Gosling's performance was mostly body language and did give his character a bit of mystery to him.

The rest of the cast was a solid mix of veterans including an amazing performance from Albert Brooks. Brook's Bernie is one of the main baddies of the film and to see this well-known comedian go from from funny man to heavy is something to be seen. It reminded me of Robin Williams transformation in Goodwill Hunting. Bryan Cranston is also decent as the grizzled and scummy friend to Gosling. Mulligan on the other hand is all but wallpaper in the film but that very well could have been the character's role. Surprisingly Christina Hendricks' appearance was also a highlight and wished she had more screentime.

Drive's atmosphere is enhanced by the film's electronic score and use of stunning cinematography. There are moments when I feel like Refn is very close to finding his visual style that sets him apart from other visual directors like Nolan and Fincher. I also love that it looked like a majority of the stunt driving was done practically. While some of the violence effects looked more digital than usual it might have been just the cameras used. Some of the flaws were some drawn out silent scenes and establishing shots that went on a little too long.

I highly recommend seeing Drive while it's in theaters and give it a chance. While the trailers give a false sense of it being a full out action film, it's still worth checking out. You have to go in understanding there is a slow burn to the film's development and expect the violent scenes in advance.

Tom Hiddleston & Jaimie Alexander Talk Thor 2

Jaimie Alexander, who plays Sif has been making the rounds during the promotion of Thor hitting DVD/Blu Ray. She talked to MovieWeb mentioning a few things she'd like to see in the sequel. Which includes a romance between Sif and Thor along with the addition of Beta Ray Bill.

"Yes. I would love for that (romance) to happen. I don't know what the story is going to be just yet, and nothing has been made official, but the hope is that it will be made official, and I would love to explore more of that. And, in future endeavors, I would love to see Beta Ray Bill, or something like that. I think that would be really cool. Like you said, there are so many avenues to go down, so many endless possibilities."

Personally I'd love to see more Sif in the sequel as much as I enjoyed Jane Foster (Portman), I believe she could be sidelined for the sequel and it wouldn't hurt the film. Beta Ray Bill is a cool character but his design is terrible. He's a horse-faced Thor doppelganger so if they're able to redesign him for film I'd all for his inclusion.

Also, Tom Hiddleston talked to Collider about Thor 2 and he gives the impression Marvel could be expanding the cosmic world and exploring the other realms. I've been hoping the second film would be entirely set off-Earth and this seems like another possible step in that direction. Previously, Hiddleston teased that Loki could end up fighting alongside Thor in the sequel. That angle has been hinted at for Avengers as well. I think Loki is an excellent character but he needs a limited role in Thor 2 if only because he's been featured in two Marvel films within the year.
