Tom Cruise In Talks For All You Need Is Kill?
HollywoodReporter states that director Doug Liman (Bourne Identity) is now in talks with Tom Cruise for the lead in the adaptation of All You Need Is Kill for Warner Bros. Now apparently given the new terrible title We Mortals Are which I assume will get yet another title change soon. Originally when Doug Liman was hired, Ryan Gosling had been mentioned as a choice for the lead. Gosling would eventually pass and end up with Logan's Run another Warner Bros. sci-fi project with director Nicolas Winding Refn. Not too long ago Brad Pitt had been mentioned and seemed likely as Liman worked with him on Mr. & Mrs. Smith.Cruise is grinding out a number of action films likely to make hay while he can still do them. He's also doing Joseph Kosinski's (Tron Legacy) Horizons (Oblivion) starring alongside Jessica Chastain which is another massive science fiction action film. I'm not sure how interesting this manga adaptation will be considering how Warner Bros. has handled Akira another project that has had casting issues and is currently in limbo.

Warner Bros. Picks Up Satori For Leonardo DiCaprio
Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to Don Winslow's novel Satori as a starring vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio. Leo will play Nicholai Hel, a Westerner raised in Japan and taught an assassin’s skills, who gets caught up in
the chaos of post-WWII as the U.S., Soviet Union, France and China
maneuver for power in Southeast Asia in the early 1950s. Shane Salerno will write the film's script with DiCaprio's Appain Way producing. Winslow's other book Savages was also developed into a film by Shane. Directed by Oliver Stone, it stars Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Benicio Del Toro, John Travolta, Salma Hayek and Emile Hirsch.Satori has potiential to be DiCaprio's first jump into the world of franchises. It seems like a decent mix between old school-Bond meets George Smiley (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) meets Jason Bourne. Knowing DiCaprio he wouldn't jump into this kind of project unless a talented director ended up making it. The only issue is that DiCaprio has attached himself to projects like this in the past like with Beat The Reaper and The Chaser remake but have never been made.

REVIEW: 50/50
50/50, tells the story of Adam (Levitt) who is a young man in the prime of his life and discovers he has cancer. His best friend Kyle (Rogen) helps him through this tough time while he also seeks comfort from an even younger therapist (Kendrick). This is actually based on Seth Rogen's friend Will who was a co-worker/friend when Seth worked as a writer on The Ali G Show. Will was brave enough to put his story to pen writing the film's screenplay. It's an intense journey and was well worth the wait.
I went into this film expecting a little more humor but considering the serious subject matter it didn't really matter. Joseph Gordon Levitt knocked it out of the park I'd be shocked if he didn't get some awards consideration. James McAvoy must be kicking himself knowing that he walked away from the role. Anna Kendrick plays a character a little more sexier than previous roles which was nice to see. Kendrick is a great actress but has down played her looks in films like Rocket Science and Up In The Air. She does play realistic female roles adding her own personality and here is no exception. Giving enough frailty and humanity to a usually two dimensional part. Rogen was his humorous-self giving the film the comic relief it needed and the right amount. In a surprising turn, Angelina Huston (Adam's mother) was able to steal a few scenes of her own. Director Jonathan Levine has made a great drama/comedy with cancer being the main plot point. A lot of people are going to be scared off by the premise alone but it was one of the better films I've seen during the year. It's worth seeing but understand it's not a straight up comedy, there are lots of euphoric and serious moments but are laughs mixed in as well.
B+

Inhumans & Guardians Of The Galaxy Next For Marvel Studios?
Marvel Studios has been mentioning a lot of projects for the future some include Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Iron Fist, Namor, Luke Cage, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Vision. Expansion into the cosmic universe has been mentioned more than once by Marvel in the past.
EW's recent issue includes confirmation of sorts that Inhumans and Guardians Of The Galaxy are also in development. Previously the two projects had been rumored but Marvel's Kevin Feige confirms them to the magazine. TwitchFilm provided the first news about Guardians and BadassDigest picked up the news on Inhumans.
INHUMANS: Created in 1965 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Inhumans are a race of evolutionary advanced beings who are the result of experiments performed on humans by an alien species called the Kree. The intention was to create super soldiers that the Kree could use to fight the Skrulls, but the test subjects were eventually abandoned to their own galactic kingdom. An Inhumans film could very well setup the events prior to Avengers 2 which could lead to the Kree-Skrull war coming to Earth. If that's not the case in the new film. Feige told EW that Inhumans could be an X-Men-style/Avengers ensemble. This very well could be Marvel Studios' chance to make their version of the X-Men.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: Created in 1969, the comic was originally set in the 31st century. The relaunch in 2008 is seemly a better group including better costume/character designs, powers, along with stronger lineup adding Adam Warlock and Quasar.
Star-Lord decides to form a team of interstellar heroes that will be proactive in protecting the galaxy, rather than reacting to crises as they happen. To this end, he recruits Adam Warlock, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Phyla-Vell (the new Quasar), Rocket Raccoon, and Groot, with Mantis as support staff. On the recommendation of ally Nova, the group establishes a base of operations at the space station Knowhere, which possesses a teleportation system with near-universal range. An intelligent, super-powered dog called Cosmo acts as Knowhere’s chief of security and works closely with the new team. After an initial clash with the revitalised Universal Church of Truth, the team’s investigation of a mass of “Limbo ice” reveals a semi-amnesiac man who identifies himself as Vance Astro – Major Victory of the original Guardians of the Galaxy. Astro’s declaration inspires the as-yet-unnamed team to adopt the “Guardians of the Galaxy” name for their own.
