Andrew Niccol's The Host (2011)

I was just talking about how much I missed Andrew Niccol (Gattaca) working in the science fiction genre. With his upcoming feature The Cross, Niccol is returning to the genre which he is best in. Now there Niccol will also adapt Stephanie Meyer's (Twilight) novel The Host into a feature film. Not to be confused with the Korean monster movie, the novel focuses on interstellar parasites that use people as hosts and remake human society into something very different. Niccol will write the screenplay and also direct. The book sounds similar to one of my favorite Donald Sutherland films Invasion of The Body Snatchers mixed with Equilibrium. I'm just hoping that Niccol rewrites Meyer's dialog and character development.


Meyer's has mentioned Matt Damon as the lead.

Director Andrew Niccol (Lord of War, Truman Show) is returning to science fiction. Best known for his amazing science fiction film Gattaca, Niccol could be the next Danny Boyle. Hopefully with this new film it will revitalize him and he'll stick with the genre.


It stars Orlando Bloom, Vincent Cassel, Olga Kurylenko and John Goodman.



"Mylar (Bloom) and his younger brother Castro come to a town to cross the border in search of a better life. The two travelers, full of hope, all too quickly realize that their journey leads them to an inescapable world full of doom.
