Nicolas Lopez Will Direct Sequel To Eli Roth's GREEN INFERNO Which Is Titled BEYOND THE GREEN INFERNO

HitFix reports that it's been announced at TIFF that Eli Roth's Green Inferno will be getting a sequel. Beyond The Green Inferno will see Roth collaborator and Aftershock director Nicolas Lopez taking over directing duties. Reactions from it's Midnight Madness screening at the festival seem glowing so far, so a sequel going into production soon might be a very smart marketing move on Roth's part. When the film is sold to a distributor they can also sell the rights to other film as well, with the hope of a unique newly created horror franchise. When Hollywood is scrambling to remake every horror film they can get their hands on. An original concept could be one that really sticks with audiences.

Eli Roth Hires ROBOT AND FRANK Writer For THANKSGIVING

Eli Roth has given an update to BehindTheThrills about the current status of his horror project Thanksgiving. Roth has hired the writing duo of Christopher D. Ford and Jeff Watts to finish the script Eli and his writing partner Jeff Rendell had been working on. The pair have worked together for The Onion before putting together a faux trailer of their own for Clown, which had Roth's name attached to it (he was never involved). It got his attention and the two have been tasked to round out the Thanksgiving script. Ford recently wrote Frank And Robot while Watts is gearing up to direct Clown with Eli as it's newly appointed producer.

"[Thanksgiving] is gonna happen. I’m working with the Clown writers on it. We have a call scheduled tomorrow afternoon. Jeff Rendell, my co-writer on it, we have a very extensive treatment. We finally cracked the story and figured out how to really make it scary, and the reason to do it. I’m really excited about it. The Clown writers wrote one of the best scripts I’ve ever read, and before Jon Watts starts shooting Clown he’s got a window, and Chris Ford, his movie Robot & Frank just opened, Chris and John are going to write the screenplay with me and my writing partner Jeff. So we’ll have a draft soon."

The faux trailer for Thanksgiving was originally meant as a one-off favor to Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez to give their Grindhouse double feature some classic cheesy trailers to go with it. Along with Machete, Thanksgiving became the favorite of the group. A majority of the cast was made of background actors from Europe that were featured in Hostel II. Roth currently has the Dracula flick Harker coming up next for Warner Bros. and along with his South American set horror film The Green Inferno afterwards. It's possible he could end up directing sometime after Harker is completed in late 2013.

Eli Roth's 'GREEN INFERNO' Is A Cannibal Flick

Variety has picked up details on Eli Roth's Green Inferno which will be his return to horror. The film will be cannibal film influenced by the Italian sub-genre that included films such as Cannibal Holocaust and Green Inferno (fake sequel to Cannibal H.). Roth wrote the film with Guillermo Amoedo the pair worked together on the earthquake thriller Aftershock. It's the first time Roth has pulled a Tarantino concerning his titles and should have as much gore if not more than his previous xenophobic flicks Hostel 1-2. No word if it would be set in the 70's or 80's but it would be a little more visually interesting if it was.

The film on a group of "naïve do-gooders" who survive a terrible plane crash in the midst of the Peruvian jungle only to be the prey of a batch of man-eating tribesmen.

Set Images From 'THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS'

It was announced during an interview with Craig Ferguson that Rza's film The Man With The Iron Fists would be released sometime in October 2012. The film shot on location in China stars Rza (American Gangster, Funny People), Russell Crowe (Robin Hood, Gladiator), Pam Grier (Jackie Brown), Lucy Liu (Kill Bill), Gordon Liu (Kill Bill), Jamie Chung (Hangover 2, Sucker Punch), Rick Yune (Die Another Day, The Fast And The Furious) and Byron Mann (Street Fighter, The Corruptor).

No official word from Universal Pictures concerning a release date since that original reveal from Rza. However, the recent move of 47 Ronin from November 2012 to a 2013 release date could explain this. Iron Fists could be getting some heat during Cannes with producers Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino already there promoting their own films. The studio could feel that Fists would be the stronger of the two films opting to release it first. Rza (Wu-Tang Clan) who scored Kill Bill will also provide the film's music. I'm sure Rza's recent cameos in G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Django Unchained has also helped slow down the film's release.

A few behind the scenes images of the production have been floating online. Not a single image of the main cast has been revealed. Besides, one that seemingly features kung fu legend Gordon Liu in a classic costume as the Abbott. The rest of the pictures feature Rza hard at work with producer Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever), production designer Drew Boughton (Expendables, On Stranger Tides, Domino) and his Chinese crew. I have to admit the sets here are impressive so far. SOURCES: PushingPixels, MartialArtsMovieJunkie, DailyGrindhouse, KungFuMagazine

Roth had taken a break from directing to focusing on actor with roles in Inglourious Basterds and the upcoming horror thriller Aftershock. It's unknown if this is the same project with a new name as details are being kept quiet.

The Man WIth The Iron Fist Nabs Russell Crowe & Lucy Liu

Things are looking good for The Man With The Iron Fist the debut film from Rza. The rapper/composer/actor turned director has started production on his kung-fu flick in China. He'll star in the lead role and direct the film with mentor Eli Roth producing on location. FilmBizAsia reports Rza has landed Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Daniel Wu and Byron Mann (The Corrupter, Street Fighter) in supporting roles. I wouldn't be shocked to see Eli Roth also take a role in the film. Crowe and Rza worked together on American Gangster and Next Three Days I assume they developed a good relationship on the set. Rza will most likely also work on the film's score which should be stellar. Considering he did some impressive music for Kill Bill Vol.1 and Ghost Dog.
