GODZILLA's Lead Character A Solider And Includes Two New Monsters
Chud is reporting on Godzilla details they say are 100% confirmed by Legendary/Warner Bros. They include that the lead human character will be a solider. That role had recently been linked to Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Immortals), Scoot McNairy (Killing Them Softy, Monsters) and Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men First Class, Contraband). It's also confirmed Godzilla won't be the only monster in the film. We should expect at least new two monsters in the film. A big problem in the 1998 American Godzilla film besides the awful CGI they had to hide as much as possible. Was that the title character was the villain rather than an anti-hero which he's always been portrayed in the franchise. While he started out as a baddie Godzilla ended up becoming a necessary evil as he'd always battle whatever other monster threatened the population. Monster vs. monster battles are an important staple to the films.
"The film will feature more than one monster, confirming that two new monsters will also be wreaking havoc – this in addition to the big green guy. Warner Bros. made it clear that their interpretation of the material “follows the story of a solider” and is “way different” than the Toho Godzilla films."

Henry Cavill, Scoot McNairy, And Caleb Landry Jones Wanted For Lead In GODZILLA, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Passes
Godzilla is about to start production in March so it's casting is in full swing. Variety reports that Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Immortals), Scoot McNairy (Killing Them Softly, Monsters) and Caleb Landry Jones (Red State, Contraband, X-Men First Class) are being linked for the lead role in the film. HeatVision also mentions Joseph Gordon-Levitt had been offered the role but turned it down. Joseph has recently been linked to both Guardians of The Galaxy (Star-Lord) and Justice League (Batman). Scoot might have the best in with director Gareth Edwards as he starred in his debut film Monsters, which helped him land the Godzilla gig.

'X-MEN FIRST CLASS' Sequel Coming Christmas 2013
20th Century's Tom Rothman is quickly becoming more a voice piece for the studio than ever before. During CinemaCon, Rothman had been talking up future films like The Wolverine (July 26th 2013), Daredevil and Fantastic Four reboots. He also talked to MTV about the X-Men First Class sequel which he confirms will shoot in January for a possible Christmas 2013 release date.
"We're going to start shooting January 2013 for [a release date of] either Christmas 2013, or Summer 2014,....The script is in development now. Matt, Simon Kinberg and Jane Goldman are working on it now."
Jennifer Lawrence's Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire will be shooting first. Since the studio has given Lionsgate enough time to make the sequel before sweeping Jennifer back for First Class 2. It would make sense to release the X-Men sequel right after Catching Fire (November 22nd 2013) to capture that exposure of Lawrence. They are also open to giving it more time for a summer 2014 release date if needed.
