Leo DiCaprio & Sam Jackson In Talks For Tarantino's Django Unchained

Deadline has official word that Leonardo DiCaprio (Inception, Departed) is indeed in talks for the villainous role of Calvin Candie in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. Candie is an evil ruthless slave owner who runs/owns Candyland. A slave's nightmare as the women are used as sexual objects and the men are used in brutal bare knuckle fights. It would be a shocking and controversial role for DiCaprio somewhat on the same level as Hans Landa. They also mention that Samuel L. Jackson is likely being eyed for the role of Calvin's right hand man Rodney. Deadline gives the impression that DiCaprio is a better lock than Will Smith. As names like Idris Elba, Jamie Foxx and Chris Tucker are also being linked for the lead. Christoph Waltz is set to play the German bounty hunter Dr. Shultz who helps Django get his wife back.

Django is Oscar bait plain and simple. If you are an actor looking to make a splash during the 2012-2013 awards season or looking for a big break this film is your ticket. Will Smith had been an interesting choice at first but they very well could look at an unknown for the role like Christoph Waltz. While I've stopped myself many times from reading the script. With each detail, the more I get an Inglourious Basterds feel from this film from it's scale and action potential.
