Hugh Jackman And Dev Patel Join Neill Blomkamp's CHAPPIE Which Stars Die Antwoord And Shartlo Copley

ScreenDaily has word from Hugh Jackman that the actor has a role in Neill Blomkamp's sci-fi comedy Chappie. The film set in South Africa focuses on android police officer (voiced by Sharlto Copley) stolen by gangsters (Die Antwoord) for their own means. Deadline adds that Jackman will play a rival of Dev Patel's (Newsroom, Slumdog Millionaire) character. Chappie is a feature vision of Blomkamp's short film Tetra Vaal.

“I am doing a role in Neill’s new film, called Chappie, which we shoot in Johannesburg. I’m there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year.”

Tom Hiddleston Pitching Amora The Enchantress For THOR 3?

Thor: The Dark World is about to be released in the next couple of weeks and we already have hints to where the third film could go. Actor Tom Hiddleston talked to TotalFilm revealing he's pitched Amora The Enchantress to Marvel for future films. Amora has been rumored since the first film as a villain and was linked for Dark World during it's early development. Enchantress just happens to be a villain of both Thor and The Avengers (alongside The Masters of Evil). The Asgardian sorceress is a conflicted character, playing friend and foe to both Thor/Loki.

"When I was first reading the comics, the relationship with the Enchantress was one of the really fun things I thought would be good to explore and may have even pitched it to [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige at some point. Because she is as sneaky and as untrustworthy as he was. ... They basically had a really fantastic and twisted relationship until they both say, ‘You know what? I don’t trust you as far as I can throw you. It’s over.’ Because they keep betraying each other, in a way. So it could be good."

Plans for a third Thor movie haven't been made public and will likely be determined by the box office numbers for The Dark World. However, since Loki won't be making an appearance in Age of Ultron and wants to see the Loki/Amora dynamic explored, it will likely be saved for Thor solo adventures. Chris Hemsworth mentioned to MTV he would love to see Charlize Theron in the role of Amora, if the actress was able to find the time to do it.

"I don't know much at all but it sounds interesting," Chris Hemsworth told MTV when asked for his thoughts on the recent Enchantress rumours. "I'm not playing the usual, sidestepping that we normally have to do, I haven't read a script. They have a bunch of different ideas, but that sounds interesting." After being told that his Snow White and the Huntsman co-star Charlize Theron is a fan favourite for the role, he said: "Oh right. Well she certainly plays a pretty intimidating villain, I think she'd be awesome but I think she's tied up in 20 other films. I think she's going on to 'Mad Max' next. [But] you never know. Fingers crossed!"

Josh Brolin Wanted For JURASSIC WORLD?

Apparently, Bryce Dallas Howard isn't the only name linked for Jurassic World. Variety (via BleedingCool) had reported that both Josh Brolin and David Oyelowo (previously rumored) are also being looked at for roles. It's the first time that Josh Brolin's name has been even mentioned but the site quickly retracted their statements.

SPECULATION: Is Wonder Woman A Lead Character In BATMAN VS SUPERMAN Or Is It Someone Else?

BleedingCool is reporting that casting agencies are getting actresses prepared for a role in Batman Vs. Superman. That role, apparently according to these agencies is expected to be Wonder Woman. No names are being attached to this news but the character description sounds familiar. A while back LatinoReview reported on a bit of an obscure casting news that was toted as Batman's love interest in the film. Both parts are looking for actresses (25-33) who just happen to have a psychical presence and strength. Neither sources can confirm for sure what the role is but it sounds like there is going to be female hero or villain in the film.

While Wonder Woman sounds like a solid candidate, I have another idea. If Batman Vs Superman is going pull unused plot points from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, which is rumored. We could see Bruce take on a female protege, an important plot point of Returns. In Miller's comic Carrie Kelley becomes the new Robin with a little training from Wayne. However, if the studio is aiming to keep the "no Robin" mantra of Nolan for the new Batman. They might want to look another character instead of Robin. Since they would have to include backstories for Dick Grayson and mention the fate of Jason Todd. Who could that character be? A couple of ladies come to mind. Sasha Bordeaux who goes from Wayne's bodyguard hired by Fox. Eventually becomes his crime fighting protege and potential love interest. The other two being Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) and Katherine Kane (Batwoman) who could also take on the role of protege. Katherine has never appeared in the films even though she's been in the comics since 1956. In my opinion, both Sasha and Kane have great potential to be solid replacements for Robin, if Goyer and Snyder take that route. Of course this is just my thought on the talk of a female lead which may or may not be a DC heroine.

It's also possible it could be Supergirl since that part was sort of teased in Man of Steel with the open chamber. Hinting that another Kryptontian could be walking around on Earth. There have been storylines were Lex Luthor manipulates her for his own means. Zack Snyder even mentioned that scene could have a connection in future films to Crave. He was also coy when asked about Supergirl.

"You know what's interesting, and I don't know and I'm not going to say what it means or anything, but the one thing if you look closely when Henry's going through the Fortress of Solitude there's an empty... you know all the bodies... the pods?" Snyder asked. "There's an empty pod. I'm not going to say what, or if, it means anything but there is an empty pod there."

Christoph Waltz To Play Villain While Emma Stone And Margot Robbie In Talks To Replace Jessica Chastain In TARZAN

Variety reports two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz is in talks to play the villain in Warner Bros. updated take on Tarzan. Alexander Skarsgard is set to play Tarzan while Jessica Chastain recently dropped out of the role of Jane. They go on to mention that actresses Emma Stone (Amazing Spider-Man 1-2) and Margot Robbie (Wolf of Wall Street) are being looked at for Jane, along with others. David Yates, who directed the latter Harry Potter films is set to helm the film. Samuel L. Jackson had been linked for a supporting role but it's possible production of Age of Ultron could be an issue.

Bryce Dallas Howard Offered Lead In JURASSIC WORLD

TheWrap reports actress Bryce Dallas Howard (50/50) has been offered a lead role in Jurassic World. Previously, Bryce and actor David Oyelowo had been linked for the film but had only been rumors at the time. However, David has been linked for two Star Wars projects recently. Those being both Episode VII and the new animated series Rebels.

The Egyptian god epic already has Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Gerard Butler set as the film's hero (Horus, son of slain god Osiris) and villain (Set, god of the desert). Seth Gordon And Jason Segel Teaming On Comedy Based On Real-Life Maple Syrup Heist, Please Sony Call This STICKY FINGERS

Deadline reports yet another comedy project being setup at Sony. They reveal that the studio is putting together a heist comedy based on the real-life maple syrup theft in Quebec. Which saw a group stealing 20 million dollars worth of maple syrup. The comedy has Horrible Bosses and Identity Theft director Seth Gordon set to direct with Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Five-Year Engagement) attached to star. Family Guy writer Chris Sheridan is currently putting the script together. Segel is currently shooting Sex Tape which is another comedy from Sony.

Sony Will Release Seth Rogen And Evan Goldberg's Raunchy R-Rated Animated Film SAUSAGE PARTY In 2015

Sony has announced plans to make a raunchy R-rated animated film titled Sausage Party. Which is from an original idea hatched by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Jonah Hill. The former two will write it's script with help from Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir. The writing duo turned directing duo recently gave the studio the summer comedy hit This Is The End which ended up earning $100 million on a very low budget. It's been a dream project for the writers of Superbad and Pineapple Express which could eventually pool in voice talent from friends. I expect Jonah Hill will be involved as a voice actor, since he contributed to the project's story and is producing. The film is looking at a 2015 release date with Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2, Monsters Vs Aliens) set to direct. I really hope Bill Hader (man of a million voices) ends up with a couple of roles in the film as well. However, might be locked-in with his two projects over at Pixar.

Sausage Party is a raunchy animated movie about one sausage’s quest to discover the truth about his existence. After falling out of a shopping cart, our hero sausage and his new friends embark on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the 4th of July sale.

VIKINGS Actor Travis Fimmel And Others Also In The Mix For Lead Roles In Duncan Jones' WARCRAFT

Deadline has updated their original Warcraft casting story to include more named that are now in the mix. They include Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paul Dano (Prisoners, Looper), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek 1-2, Like Crazy) and Anson Mount (Hell On Wheels). The most interesting name in the group is Fimmel who is the main draw to the History Channel series Vikings, which is somewhat in the same ballpark as Legendary's Warcraft. It sounds like the roles are other than one offered to Colin Farrell.

Colin Farrell And Paula Patton In Talks For Duncan Jones' WARCRAFT

Deadline reports that Legendary Pictures is casting for their live-action film Warcraft based on the best-selling video game. Ellie Kemper Joins Jason Segel And Cameron Diaz In SEX TAPE

When it was announcement that Jason Segel would star in the comedy Sex Tape. A raunchy comedy that focuses on a married couple that makes a sex tape and eventually have it leak everywhere. I added a casting suggestion that would pair Jason with the feisty Ellie Kemper (hot off her supporting roles in 21 Jump Street and Bridesmaids) as the film's female lead. That wasn't to be, as Cameron Diaz joined her Bad Teacher co-star in that role instead. However, TheWrap reports that Ellie Kemper has indeed joined the cast in a supporting role, which I consider a win in my favor. The rest of the cast includes Rob Corddry, Rob Lowe and Jack Black.

Kelsey Grammer Joins EXPENDABLES 3 Taking A Role Ment For Nicolas Cage, Plus Terry Crews Tweets New Set Photo

Deadline reports that notorious bad boy Kelsey Grammer (X-Men: The Last Stand, Boss, Transformers: Age of Extinction) has been tapped to join the cast of The Expendables 3. His role of ex-mercenary Bonaparte was originally offered to Nicolas Cage who apparently turned it down. I assume if Cage was to join the franchise he'd want a bigger part in it. The rest of the new additions include Harrison Ford, Milla Jovovich, Wesley Snipes and Jackie Chan. Also, actor Terry Crews posted a photo of himself with other cast members on the set. Bruce Willis was expected to return but payment issues caused the actor to leave the production.

David Oyelowo (The Butler, Rise of The Planet of The Apes, Jack Reacher, Spooks) and Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle, Fruitvale Station) are also in the mix for Star Wars: Episode VII according to LatinoReview. David has been previously linked for Jurassic World and a possible candidate for Black Panther. While Michael has long been recently rumored for the role of Human Torch in Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot. No word on their possible roles but I wouldn't rule out playing the son of Lando and new era Jedi.

Natalie Portman Hinting MS MARVEL And BLACK PANTHER Films Coming Soon?

During an interview with SciFiNow actress Natalie Portman hinted about future Marvel projects. She revealed the studio is working on female led film (Ms Marvel?) and one focusing on a non-white title character. There has been talk from numerous outlets and even Marvel about the developing of both Black Panther and Ms Marvel films over the last couple of years. According to outlets both projects currently have scripts written. Not to mention casting rumors linking Emily Blunt (Looper, Edge of Tomorrow, The Wolfman), Ruth Wilson (Saving Mr. Banks, Lone Ranger, Anna Karenina, Luther) and possibly Katee Sackhoff for Carol Danvers. Even more actors have been linked for T'Challa over the last two years. However, this is the first time that a Marvel cast member has revealed possible plans for unannounced films that weren't spin-offs of their own character (Black Widow/War Machine).

"There are definitely many strong women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character which I think is coming – I have heard is coming – and, of course, also a central non-white character will also be exciting. Title characters."

Saoirse Ronan Reading For Role In STAR WARS: EPISODE VII And Benedict Cumberbatch Locked-In For Trilogy?

LatinoReview is reporting that Irish actress Saoirse Ronan (Hanna, Atonement, The Host) is reading for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII. Recently, she turned down roles in both Disney's Cinderella and Marvel's Age of Ultron. It's possible Disney has bigger plans for her within their Star Wars franchise. The site reports along with Jania Solo there is a female villain role also being cast.

Also, even though Benedict Cumberbatch (12 Years A Slave, Fifth Estate, War Horse, Hobbit Trilogy, Star Trek Into Darkness, Sherlock) has been denying any involvement with Star Wars. LR reiterates he's expected to have roles in all three films and sounds like Ben is locked-in. The actor has been linked for the main villainous sith role which is expected to be a Vader-type that could span the new trilogy.

Arnold Schwarzenegger To Play Villainous General In James Cameron's AVATAR Sequels?

LatinoReview has an update concerning James Cameron's Avatar sequels which would see Arnold Schwarzenegger re-teaming with Jim after 20 years. Arnold is said to be playing a villainous General in the film or films. I assume that he'll be sent to Pandora to regain control of the planet. At one point Cameron was aiming to bring Schwarzenegger into the Alien franchise (studio moved on without Cameron on both Alien 3 and Alien 5), so it'll be interesting to see how he fits into the world of Avatar. It's possible this villain could be apart of more than one of the three sequels currently being written.

Hugh Jackman Might Have Put On Logan's Classic Cowl Costume In THE WOLVERINE?

The above image isn't some fan creation or cosplay. It's a legit unused costume created for The Wolverine which didn't make the film. MovieWeb was able to get ahold of the image of Wolverine's classic cowl costume which never made it into the films. Legacy Effect's costume designer Adam Ross who worked on Iron Man 3, Robocop, Oblivion and Pacific Rim put this design together using a 3D printer. I actually love this look and hope that Fox eventually does use this and would be a perfect tactical uniform for Jeff Wadlow's X-Force (if Jackaman is apart of the lineup). Also, this seems to have a similar look to the future costumes (Warpath) from the leaked Days of Future Past footage.

J.J. Abrams Comments On Rumored STAR TREK 3 Director Candidate Rupert Wyatt

HitFix was able to get some comments from J.J. Abrams concerning Star Trek 3. He finally comes out and confirms he won't be able to direct the third installment. However, will stay on helping develop the film's story which is currently the focus of the project. When asked about rumored directorial candidate Rupert Wyatt, Abrams gave an endorsement of sorts. Praising the director of Rise of The Planet of The Apes but didn't confirm they were looking at him at this point.

"I know Rupert and he's incredibly talented," he says, "and we'd be lucky to have someone as talented as Rupert. But there are things we're focusing on right now before the director, which is just sort of the fundamentals of where the story is gonna go."

DRACULA: YEAR ZERO Retitled DRACULA UNTOLD And Lands Female Leads As Production Begins

Universal reveals that actresses Samantha Barks (Les Misberables) and Sarah Gadon (Amazing Spider-Man 2) have joined Universal's reboot of the Dracula franchise which is now titled Dracula Untold. The rest of the cast includes Luke Evans, Dominic Cooper, Zach McGowan, Thor Kristjansson and Art Parkinson. The horror flick is the first co-production between Universal and Legendary Pictures which is slated for release on October 3rd, 2014.

MAMA Director Andres Muschietti Wanted For THE MUMMY Reboot

Universal caught a bit of a break when Underworld/Total Recall director Len Wiseman dropped out of the directing job for their Mummy reboot. THR reports the studio is now looking at Andres Muschietti to direct the film. Which makes a lot of sense since he gave the studio the surprise hit Mama earlier this year and have been begging him to make a sequel. An actual horror director is what the film always needed and it looks like it will at least have some legitimate scares.

The project has Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) handling the film's script which will be set in present day. I'm guessing we'll have to wait and see if Guillermo del Toro puts his name to the project as an executive producer. No word if Legendary Pictures will be handling the production, like they will be on the studios' Dracula reboot.

Katee Sackhoff Downplays Marvel Talk But Would Love To Play Carol Danvers

CraveOnline was able to get clarification from actress Katee Sackhoff about her recent revelation that she was in early talks with Marvel for a project. She confirms her people have but hasn't had direct conversations with Marvel. Further mentioning that she wouldn't mind playing Carol Danvers if offered.

"I absolutely have not spoken to Marvel. It doesn’t mean that my team hasn’t spoken to Marvel. I personally have not spoken to Marvel and have no plans to do a movie in the immediate future, because number one I’m tied up with Somnia which is a fantastic place to be. It’s exactly where I wanted to be."

"Yeah, I’m sure if we dug deep enough there is a sect of fans that don’t want me for Ms. Marvel so let’s just leave it at they want me for Ms. Marvel and that’d be fantastic. I would love to do the role. Of course I would love to do the role. I think that it’s in my wheelhouse and I would enjoy it. I’d be stupid to turn down a Marvel movie but as far as I know, Ms. Marvel isn’t even in the next movie."

Director Joe Carnahan Confirms Script Complete For NEMESIS

Director Joe Carnahan (The Grey) confirmed today via Twitter that he's completed the script for Nemesis based on Mark Millar's (Kick-Ass, Wanted, Superior, Supercrooks) comic book. The film setup at Fox focuses on a Batman-type villain who spends a chunk of time once a year destroying a city going up against their top-cop. Liam Neeson seemingly wants to re-team with Carnahan for the hard-nosed action flick.
