Possible Synopsis For Tarantino's Django Unchained

A new plot synopsis for Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained has been leaked on Shadow&Act. It's very well real as copies of the script have made it's rounds to various studios looking for international distribution. I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit online within a few weeks. If true this film is indeed A Southern and will feature a freed slave bounty hunter (Django) as the film's hero. Christoph's role seems to be revealed as well as he'll be playing a German bounty hunter who trains/teams-up with Django. It's likely that his part is inspired by German actor Klaus Kinski's Loco in the The Great Silence yet another Sergio Corbucci film.

“Django is a freed slave, who, under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (played by Christoph Waltz) becomes a bad-ass bounty hunter himself, and after assisting Waltz in taking down some bad guys for profit, is helped by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner.”

Christoph Waltz Confirmed For Tarantino's Django Unchained

ThompsonOnHollywood (via ThePlaylist) is confirming that indeed Christoph Waltz is re-teaming with Quentin Tarantino on the now confirmed spaghetti western entitled Django Unchained. Waltz was picked out of obscurity to play the iconic villain in Inglourious Basterds which earned him an Oscar along with other impressive awards.

I have to assume that Christoph could possibly play the hero of the film to counter balance the two performances. I'm also hoping that there is a bevy of Italian and Spanish actors cast to get more attention on lesser known talent like he did with Basterds. It wouldn't be shocking to see a few other familiar faces involved with the film as Uma Thurman has read the script which could mean she might have a role.

Quentin Tarantino's Western Titled Django Unchained

Deadline confirms the title of Quentin Tarantino's spaghetti western is Django Unchained. The first page of the script leaked online which isn't surprising. As the full Inglourious Basterds script was also leaked before it's production. The new film is currently being shopped to international distributors who might co-fiance the film. Of course The Weinstein Company who has a longstanding relationship with Quentin is heading up the production with domestic rights to his 7th film. They also say that casting will begin soon with a late summer early fall production start. It's been mentioned previously the film will shoot in both Spain and Italy.

The title is an homage to Franco Nero and director Sergio Corbucci's Django which in 1966 was considered the most violent film of it's time. It's similar to how he used the title of Inglorious Bastards but purposely misspelled it. Paying his respects to the WWII action genre. I wouldn't count out an appearance by Franco himself in this film. There still seems to be some confusion over if this is "A Southern" or not. My interpretation is that "Unchained" could refrer to the freeing of slaves, yet that has yet to be seen.

Jeff Bridges Could Join Ryan Reynolds In R.I.P.D

Deadline reports that Jeff Bridges is in talks to replace Zach Galifianakis in R.I.P.D after he dropped the project. The film is being directed by Robert Schwentke (RED) and Ryan Reynolds is still attached to star with a summer production start.

RUMOR: Has Guy Pearce Joined Prometheus?

Apparently there is a possibility that Guy Pearce (Memento) has joined Ridley Scott's Prometheus. CHUD has gotten a tip from two different sources that Pearce could be in the film. While this is just a rumor it's a very good one, if true.

The cast is an impressive group of actors. It includes Noomi Rapace (Dragon Tattoo, Sherlock Holmes 2), Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, 300, X-Men First Class), Charlize Theron, Idris Elba (Thor, The Wire, RockNRolla), Rafe Spall (Green Street Hooligans, A Good Year, Hot Fuzz), Sean Harris (Harry Brown, Red Riding Trilogy), Logan Marshall-Green, Kate Dickie, Benedict Wong (Moon, Sunshine) and Emun Elliot.

Antje Traue Is Playing A Kryptoian Villainess In Superman!

German actress Antje Traue (Pandorum) has been confirmed by Variety and Deadline joining Superman: Man of Steel. They are giving conflicting characters Ursa (seen in Superman 1-2) and Faora both Kryptoian villains but she has joined the film none the less. This very well could be the role that Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) had been testing for. I haven't seen much of Antje's work but she did a decent job in Pandorum giving one of the better performances in the film. It's expected she will be an ally of General Zod (Michael Shannon).

Marvel Confirms Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston & Stellan SkarsgÄrd For Avengers

In a press release attached to the first set photo for Avengers we also get a short synopsis and confirmation on a few actors. Previously Marvel hadn't officially announced Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill it was only confirmed by the trades. They also go on that Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Stellan SkarsgÄrd (Professor Erik Selvig) from Thor will also be in the film. The synopsis while interesting doesn't give us the big picture which will likely either leak out or be featured at Comic-Con in July.

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

Avengers Starts Production & Marvel Releases First Teaser Image From The Set

Joss Whedon recently revealed that The Avengers just started production on Monday and now Marvel has just posted a teaser image from the set. We should expect more tidbits like these during the production as the shoot moves forward. Hopefully we end up with a group shot of the in camera heroes.

Ray Park Confirms Returning As Snake Eyes In G.I. Joe 2

Ray Park (X-Men) has confirmed via Twitter that he is returning for G.I. Joe 2. Reprising the role of silent Joe Snake Eyes. It had been mentioned by actress Rachel Nichols that Duke, Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes would be the only returning characters. I find it doubtful that they would exclude Cobra Commander and Baroness as they are the most popular of the Cobra members. Park is the first confirmed returning cast member. I'd hope that Paramount would consider recasting Duke and Baroness and making this more of a reboot/reworking than a sequel. The film has a script written by Rhett Reese and Wernick (Zombieland, Deadpool) which is expected to be giant step up from the first film.

Disney Wants Michelle Williams For Oz

Vulture reports that Disney is trying to cast the rest of the roles for Sam Raimi's Oz, The Great & Powerful. They say that Raimi is championing Hilary Swank for the role of the elder witch while Disney wants Michelle Williams. I believe most of the time a director is right on the money but Sam has a trend of hiring plain-Jane actresses for his leads. From what I know about the synopsis the witches are supposed to be beyond gorgeous while Swank can be pretty at times she isn't as stunning as say Mila Kunis, Blake Lively or Michelle Williams. I have to side with Disney as Michelle is coming off some impressive roles in Shutter Island and Blue Valentine the latter earned her second Oscar nomination.

It's unknown if Blake Lively is still involved with the film as she just joined Oliver Stone's Savages. Vulture also reported that John C. Rilley was in talks to play the Wizard's (Franco) sidekick but is expected to get an offer for a role in Hunger Games instead. To be honest I'd rather see Rilley in Oz but let's hope Disney continues to give us a solid cast.

Shane Black Also Writing Iron Man 3 Afterall?

It wasn't too long ago that Marvel Studios announced that Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) would be directing Iron Man 3. Replacing Jon Favreau and it was expected he would also handle writing duties. So when Drew Pearce was brought in by the studio to write it seemed odd as Black is known as a very successful screenwriter. CinemaBlend is now reporting that Shane is in fact co-writing with Drew.

It's great news as Shane is one of the greatest action genre writers. Creating the Lethal Weapon franchise to writing scripts for The Last Boy Scout, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Last Action Hero and his directorial debut Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He's also working on adaptations of Doc Savage and Death Note.

I recently re-watched Iron Man 2 and one of my biggest issues were the film's action set pieces in Monaco and Stark Mansion. They were big let downs and it wasn't until the very end that we got something fun and visual with the droids, War Machine and Black Widow. Hopefully Black can give us a solid Iron Man adventure and not just a Tony Stark focused soap opera.

Marvel has yet to reveal the plot or villains of the film but they have stated it won't be bloated like Iron Man 2 with all the character cameos and setting up other films. This very well could mean we won't see a big S.H.I.E.L.D presence along with fellow Avengers not making cameos. It's being toted as in the vain of a Tom Clancy novel which gives the impression that The Ten Rings will likely be involved. The Mandarin and Whitney Frost (Madame Masque) have been teased with Emily Blunt being rumored for a role in the film. I would expect there could be casting announcements made at this year's Comic-Con as the release date is set for May 3rd 2013.

30 Minutes Or Less Teaser Poster

Emile Hirsch Also Joins Oliver Stone's Savages

Variety reports Emile Hirsch (Into The Wild, Milk) has also joined Oliver Stone's Savages in an unnamed role. The cast already includes Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Uma Thurman and John Travolta.

FIRST LOOK: Tom Hardy In Bane Mode On Dark Knight Rises Set

Here is our first glimpse of Tom Hardy as The Dark Knight Rises villain Bane. Of course he's not in costume but rather on a break off-stage taking a photo with co-worker or fan. It does however give us an idea of how he will look in the film as he's all bulked up again and looking pretty tough. I'm still curious to find out if Bane will be a cop, part of the mob or a member of the League of Shadows.

DOES TOM HARDY LOOK LIKE A DECENT BANE? ARE YOU EXCITED TO SEE THE BATMAN VILLAIN IN DARK KNIGHT RISES?

Blake Lively, Uma Thurman & John Travolta Confirmed For Savages

Deadline reports that Blake Lively (The Town, Green Lantern) has officially joined Oliver Stone's Savages. They also confirm that Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) and John Travolta have also been cast. They join an already impressive group that includes Aaron Johnson (Nowhere Boy, Kick-Ass), Taylor Kitsch (John Carter of Mars), Benicio Del Toro and Salma Hayek.

It would seem that Lively has chosen Savages over the Glinda role in Sam Raimi's Oz, The Great & Powerful. I have high expectations for this new Oliver Stone film as he hasn't been able to make compelling film that I've enjoyed since Any Given Sunday (1999). The subject matter could be the key element to Stone returning to his Scarface roots.

Another Batch Of Stills From Thor

Universal Offers Jeremy Renner Bourne Legacy Lead

It looks like Universal has chosen Jeremy Renner for their lead in Tony Gilroy's Bourne Legacy as reported by Deadline and originally scooped by LatinoReview. While we've been hearing talk of Joel Edgerton and other well known names the studio has gone with Renner. The prequel will focus on the early day of Treadstone and will leave the window open for Matt Damon to return but Bourne will not actually be in the film. I'm sure there will be confirmation soon as I doubt Renner would turn down the film considering it's right up his alley.

It's not surprising as Renner is co-starring alongside Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol with the assumption he'll take over the franchise for Cruise. He's also lined up a few films with Marvel Studios playing Hawkeye in The Avengers, a Hawkeye spin-off and other Marvel films. It doesn't hurt that Jeremy has international appeal and gained two Oscar nominations in the last two years for his great work in the Hurt Locker and The Town. He's currently finishing up Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters before starting Avengers.

Benedict Wong & Emun Elliot Join Ridley Scott's Prometheus

AlienPrequelNews is reporting that Benedict Wong (Moon, Sunshine) and Emun Elliot have joined Ridley Scott's Prometheus. Wong has Tweeted confirmation of his involvement but there isn't confirmation about Ellliot. It seems like the two could be playing crew members on the ship.

They join an impressive cast that includes Noomi Rapace (Dragon Tattoo, Sherlock Holmes 2), Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, 300, X-Men First Class), Charlize Theron, Idris Elba (Thor, The Wire, RockNRolla), Rafe Spall (Green Street Hooligans, A Good Year, Hot Fuzz), Sean Harris (Harry Brown, Red Riding Trilogy), Logan Marshall-Green and Kate Dickie

Josh Brolin In Talks Along With Penn & Gosling To Join Gangster Squad

Deadline reports that Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men, American Gangster) is now in talks for a cop role in Ruben Fleischer's (Zombieland, 30 Minutes or Less) Gangster Squad. They also confirm Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling (Drive, Logan's Run) are still in talks for roles. Ryan would play Brolin's partner and Penn would play L.A. gangster Mickey Cohen.

Joel Edgerton Wanted For Bourne Legacy & Huntsman

Vulture is reporting that Australian actor Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom) is impressing Universal as he's being looked at for two of their films. First writer/director Tony Gilroy wants Joel for The Bourne Legacy yet the studio feels James McAvoy (X-Men First Class, Wanted) or Shia LaBeouf (Transformers 1-3) would be better known internationally. Universal is also considering Joel for the huntsman role in Snow White & The Huntsman as Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman have passed on the project.

Edgerton is currently leading Universal's upcoming The Thing prequel and is an excellent actor that's been taking up solid Aussie roles in the last couple of years. Hopefully he ends up in Bourne Legacy as he seems a perfect person for the role and Huntsman sounds like it's on it's last legs. He's a future action star in the making and if Joel doesn't get Bourne he'll be offered another franchise soon.

Kate Beckinsale Offered Lori Role In Len Wiseman's Total Recall

Deadline reports that an offer has gone out to Kate  Beckinsale for the Lori role in Len Wiseman's (Die Hard 4) Total Recall remake. Beckinsale and Wiseman are married working previous together on the first two Underworld films. They also name Rosario Dawson (Sin City) and Eva Mendes (Once Upon A Time In Mexico) as serious contenders for the role of Melina. Currently the only two cast actors are Colin Farrell and Bryan Cranston.

Curiously enough Jessica Biel's name has disappeared from this new update. Biel had been previously linked as a frontrunner. I'm sure it could still be the case she's in the mix for Melina as she read for both parts. I'd have to take Eva over Rosario just because I haven't seen a good performance from Dawson in years. I think Beckinsale is a good fit for the Lori role and it doesn't hurt she has a strong working relationship with Len. She is also finishing up production on Underworld: New Dawn, so Kate's going to be in fight mode when she steps on the set.

Isaiah Mustafa Confirms Meeting With Marvel About Luke Cage

Originally a Luke Cage film was setup at Sony/Columbia with director John Singleton and screenwriter Ben Ramsey (The Big Hit) attached. Since then it's been stuck in development limbo.
Isaiah Mustafa better known as the Old Spice Guy has been campaigning for a couple of years now for the chance to play Luke Cage aka Power Man. Isaiah was asked by SuperheroHype about the character and how his campaign was going. He revealed his reasons for the passion of playing Cage and actually talking to Marvel about it.

"I've already had a meeting with Marvel. I talked to them and I told them that I was a gracious reader of their comics and that I wanted to be Luke Cage. So we'll see where they take it."

There is a Jessica Drew show being developed and he could end up in that. On the other hand I wouldn't be shocked if Marvel decides to include the hero in the Iron Fist film as the two are best known as partners in the comics. They could test the character in Fist and then move on from there into his solo adventure. Isaiah has a lot of passion and personality given that along with a great sense of humor I'd think he'd make an excellent Power Man. I figure if an Australian soap star like Hemsworth can get a big break like Thor, this isn't out of the question. Marvel Studios has mentioned before about trying to discover and develop their own stars.

CAST EM'!: Albert Hughes' Akira

With the recent online campaign calling out Warner Bros. for whitewashing casting of Akira. I've decided to choose two solid Japanese actors that could be cast in the two main lead roles of Kaneda and Tetsuo. As I call bullshit on the studio for not being able to be faithful to the original source material.

There are plenty of amazing Japanese actors that have been involved with films like Battle Royale, 13 Assassins and Outrage that could be perfect for this genre epic.

Ryƍ Kase as Tetsuo:  If Warner Bros. truly wanted Joesph Gordon-Levitt for the Tetsuo role, Kase is who they should be looking at. He's the Japanese JGL and has been involved with Eastwood's Iwo Jima. Also the amazing Yakuza epic Outrage which he is a major standout. Throwing out a few flawless lines in English I might add. He would bring the perfect balance of good and evil needed for the role. (Outrage, Letters From Iwo Jima)

Yûsuke Iseya as Kaneda: Yûsuke is more of an action star doing some impressive stunts in 13 Assassins and Sukiyaki Western seemingly perfect for the heroic role of Kaneda. (13 Assassins, Sukiyaki Western)

Kevin Feige Talks Post-Avengers Plans, Confirms Thor & Cap Sequels

It won't be until Comic-Con that we'll actually get the actually next line up of films but Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige is talking post-Avengers plans with IGN. It sounds like Kevin and Marvel have enough films in the works to keep fans happy for the next ten years.

CAPTAIN AMERICA 2: The film will be set in modern times but very well could have WWII flashback scenes. As writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have talked about including a few more WWII scenes in the sequel. Hydra is likely to be back with possible villains Baron von Strucker, Madame Hydra and Zemo. With Sebastian Stans' contract to be in bunch of Marvel films I expect we will see a transformation from Bucky to Winter Soldier. Zemo being a mantle villain it would be nice to see a mantle hero like Union Jack also involved with the sequel.

THOR 2: Not much known here as it was just confirmed the sequel is happening. Hopefully it will be more realm focused as there a bunch of villains and mythology to explore off-Midgard (Earth). Fellow Asgardians Balder and Valkyrie have yet to be introduced along with Dark Elves, Rock Trolls and other villainous creatures. The world of Thor is rich and might be the first step for Marvel to expand our concepts of the superhero genre.

BLACK WIDOW: David Hayter (X-Men, X2) wrote a Black Widow script and was aiming to direct when it was setup at Lionsgate but was eventually scrapped. It's unknown where the project is at the moment but there is more talk of this spin-off than the others. Johansson is game as mentioned at last year's Comic-Con.

HAWKEYE: There have been plans for a Hawkeye film for years and now that Jeremy Renner is in place for the role they can finally move forward with it. I'm not sure if there was ever a script developed but I wouldn't be shocked. Personally I'd rather see a Widow/Hawkeye team-up film as they'd work better as team than in solo projects.

S.H.I.E.L.D: This one has been teased since we first got a glimpse of Nick Fury in Iron Man. It seemed that with a script by Andrew W. Marlowe (Air Force One) kicking around for years it would go soon. While it's expected Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders will be in this it's unknown if other currently cast Marvel heroes will also appear.

IRON FIST: Unlike Strange and Panther which have been in development for almost the same amount of time they actually have someone in mind for the lead. Ray Park had been attached and is still interested in the role. He's currently getting ready to return as Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe 2. Marvel recently set Rich Wilkes (xXx) to work on the film's script and is likely to be based on The Immortal run of the character being more of a martial arts film.

DOCTOR STRANGE: The only real news on this front is that Marvel has hired Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to start writing the script. The two are responsible for the Conan reboot and likely involved with it's sequel. While Patrick Dempsey (Scream 3, Transformers 3) has been campaigning to play mystical hero.

BLACK PANTHER: Wesley Snipes had been in talks with Marvel for the role but with his troubles it's unlikely that will happen. Actors like Michael Jai White (Spawn, Dark Knight), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (G.I. Joe, The Thing) and Idris Elba (Thor, Ghost Rider 2) have been in the mix for T'Challa. Mark Bailey is currently writing the script.

ANT-MAN: This one wasn't called out by Kevin but it's assumed with a script and director in place it will be down the production line sooner than later. There was also zero talk of Luke Cage, War Machine or Sub-Mariner.

UKNOWN-COSMIC FILM: There hasn't been a full on confirmation of which one of the cosmic epics Marvel could be working on. I would love to think this is a Silver Surfer movie but it's more than likely Killraven or World War Hulk.

Potential Terminator 5 Director Justin Lin Teases Vin Diesel

While there has yet to be a formal announcement that Justin Lin is indeed directing Terminator 5 but he's already giving hints who he would cast in the film. Lin mentions to MovieHole speaking with Vin Diesel about the Terminator mythology and would like to use him in the film. While I doubt really care for the Fast & Furious franchise Vin is a decent actor when given the right material and genre. I'm really excited for the new Riddick film and he is gruff enough for the brutal world of Terminator.

“We’ve talked about the mythology (of the Terminator series...)([pause) he’s a great guy and a great actor. I really like working with him so anything I do I usually talk to him about. Sometimes we even talk about going back and doing a little indy movie,"

My only problem is with Lin as Terminator won't have the distraction of pretty ladies/cars which is the main forumla of his previous films. Here's hoping it doesn't become a total mess and we have yet another reboot/remake on our hands. The only good thing about this is that Lin has been rumored to have talked to Arnold about returning to the franchise. I'm unsure how he could fit in the film unless he's a human character but it would be interesting to find out.

Joesph Gordon-Levitt & Marion Cotillard Confirmed For Dark Knight Rises

Warner Bros. has finally confirmed both Joesph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard for The Dark Knight Rises. The press release also gives us their roles in the film. Joe will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon. Marion will play Miranda Tate a Wayne Enterprises board member.

Mr. Sulu Is Against Akira Whitewash Casting

George Takei is going through something of a revival of his career lately in part with his involvement with the Howard Stern Show as their celebrity announcer. He's best known as the original Mr. Sulu from Star Trek and champion of Gay Rights. George recently Tweeted his support for the Facebook group "Don't Whitewash AKIRA!" petitioning the decision by Warner Bros. to cast white actors for known Japanese roles.

While I had been open to the idea of casting some Western actors. The relocation to Neo-Manhattan and renaming main characters (Western names) aspect sounded weird to me. The fact that none of the rumored actors being offered roles were even Asian was sort of disgusting. The the rumored actors include James Franco, Zac Efron, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Andrew Garfield, Garrett Hedlund, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake, Joaquin Phoenix Robert Pattinson and Mila Kunis.

Appian Way, Leo DiCaprio's production company could be at fault here as they own the rights and likely have creative control on the film. They've mentioned previously that they want to have a completely Japanese adaptation of Ninja Scroll, so why not Akira? I think the real fans of Akira should voice their opinions and sign the petition. Should we really have to settle for a sub-par adaptation ignoring it's original Japanese roots? Let Warner Bros./Appian Way know your frustration before they start production.

REVIEW: Scream 4

The fourth installment of the Scream franchise brings back all the usual players and does something horror sequels rarely can do being as good as the original. While the opening scene is predicable most of the film isn't. As with the other films you start to suspect everyone and you're kept on edge for a majority of the film. Being a fan of the original films I was very skeptical they could bring back the same flare of the first one  but they actually made a solid horror film. The kills aren't very inventive but they seemed more realistic than what we've seen in recent slasher flicks. It's worth checking out while in theaters and I might actually pick up a Scream box set when Scream 4 arrives on DVD.

The stand out performance isn't Emma Roberts as most might suspect but rather Hayden Panettiere. To be honest I've never been a fan of Hayden but I actually had moments of swooning when she was on screen. After seeing her in this I wish she'd take up more badass roles. Here's hoping she sticks with films and avoids terrible television shows. There has been talk of sequels and I can see why they would want to continue the franchise. Mainly because this has been the first watchable Wes Craven film since Scream 3. I'd be up for another one or two Screams if they push the boundaries a little more and keep the celebrity cameos to a minimum next time.

Taylor Kitsch Has Seen A Trailer For John Carter Of Mars, Will It Be Attached To Thor?

During press for Bang Bang Club Taylor Kitsch confirms to MTV that he has seen a trailer for John Carter of Mars. He doesn't tell us when it will be released but I have to assume that it might be attached to Thor as it's also a Disney film. Considering they're both rather large science fiction fantasy films it would make sense to pair the two. I have to expect it will a teaser trailer as the film is a year away with a March 9th 2012 release date and it's unknown where they are with the post-production.

Natalie Portman & Stellan SkarsgÄrd Confirmed For Avengers

It looks like there will be more cross-pollinating in the Marvel universe. BadTaste has word from Chris Hemsworth that Natalie Portman will be returning as Jane Foster in The Avengers. It was also recently mentioned by Stellan SkarsgÄrd himself that he would be reprising his role of Professor Erik Selvig in the film as well. They join an already impressive cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders.

This news makes me wonder if Pepper Potts and Rhodey/War Machine will eventually show up in the film as well. As both Don Cheadle and Gwyneth Paltrow have given the impression neither had been approached and will stay in the Iron Man films.

CAST EM'!: Edgar Wright's Ant-Man

With the second draft of Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright's script for Ant-Man complete I figured I go over some updated casting ideas for the Marvel Studios film. I've come up with a list of my favorites for the roles of Hank and Janet.

Previously we've seen actors like Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk and Adrien Brody rumored for the role of Hank. Along with online campaigns for Neil Patrick Harris and Simon Pegg. Pegg suggesting he'd rather play the film's villain rather than Ant-Man himself. I like some of the names being mentioned but I have my own ideas as well.

DR HANK PYM - ANTMAN

Joel Edgerton: Joel is similar to Tom Hardy and Jeremy Renner as he's slowly building up a decent resume of badass roles. He seems like the gruff type of Hank that you could seriously and be threatened by. Depending on how their take on Pym if they want to get a future action star for the part Joel could be their man. (The Thing, Animal Kingdom, King Aurthur, Smokin' Aces, Star Wars: Episode II & III)

Jamie Bell: Jamie is an excellent young actor. I've been fascinated with his career as he's been able to go from child actor to slowly developing into an action star. Being the only solid thing about Jumpers and also being able to hold his own in Defiance alongside Daniel Craig. Bell was also involved with the Spider-Man talks so it's likely he's open to a comic book role. If I had to choose a favorite it would be Bell. Not to mention he's already had plenty of motion capture experience with Tintin which could be an asset. It's expected Ant-Man will be mostly motion capture. (King Kong, Tintin, The Eagle, Defiance, Flags of Our Fathers, Hallam Foe)

JANET VAN DYNE - WASP

Mila Kunis: Mila is best known for her television work but has become known for her adaptability taking on many different types of films. She's able to play almost any sort of role dramatic, action, comedic or otherwise. She had been linked for the Lois Lane role with many other actresses but seemed at the time the best choice. As Janet is characterized as a petite woman Kunis' stature fits that aspect along with her bubbling personality which Janet is known for. (Oz, Book of Eli, Sarah Marshall, Black Swan)

Mary Elizabeth Winstead: Winstead on the other hand has more action film roots as a majority of her films have tended to go in that direction. She also has been rumored/linked to being involved with talks for Superman, Spider-Man and The Avengers. It seems she wants to do a comic book film and is on the radar of Marvel Studios as MEW was a possible candidate for Maria Hill. (Death Proof, Die Hard 4, Scott Pilgrim, The Thing, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter)
